Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are are just that - an easy fit. Just slide them over the tire and step on a pedal to tension them. The chains finish self-tensioning after a full tire rotation. These are excellent if you're looking for chains that are completely effortless because there's no reaching around the tire to make connections, driving forward and rechecking the tension, or crawling around on the cold, wet ground to install them. Removing the Easy Fit is just as simple - pull the red pin in the middle and push the red buttons at the bottom of the center element to release tension, then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

They're also great all-purpose winter weather chains. so if you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and incredibly easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly easy and it doesn't require crawling around on the cold, wet ground to make connections, or getting out to readjust them after driving a short distance.

Pull sides of the rigid arch apart to extend wire

1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.

Tuck the rigid arch behind the tire, starting at the top, and tug chains down

2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom. (If you're testing these on bare pavement, the red cable may not fit under your tire like it would in snow.)

Flip pedal out, step on it until it clicks

3. Flip the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.

Replace pedal into travel position and attach tensioners to side chains

4. Pop the pedal back into the locked position.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Best Low Clearance Tire Chains for 2021 Subaru Forester with Tire Size 225/60R17
For your 2021 Subaru Forester with tire size 225/60-17 the best overall option that has great clearances is the Konig Easy Fit Chains part # TH04115104 as it installs in a matter of seconds, is Class S compatible (that means requires minimal clearance) and provides excellent traction. Now the chain that has the absolute best clearance is the K-Summit chains part # TH02230K45 as this is only option that doesn't drape over tire's sidewall at all which is where most clearance issues arise.

  • What Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with 225/60-17 Tires?
I did some research on your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with standard 225/60-17 tires, and I discovered that the owner's manual suggests class-S tire chains installed on the front tires only. It is important to go by the manufacturer's guidelines outlined in the manual to make sure you avoid damage in your vehicle's wheel wells. With that being said, we always recommend tire chains over tire cables because tire chains ultimately give you more traction on snow/ice. For the tire chains route,...

  • Comparing Konig Tire Chains For 2020 Subaru Crosstrek With 225/55-18 Tires
So the CG-9 and XG-12 Pro 240 are the same chain, just different sizes, and each of the Konig tire chains are made from manganese nickel alloy steel. That's just a corrosion-resistant, hardened steel alloy, which is much stronger than other types of steel, and why it is often used on tire chains. For your 2020 Subaru Crosstrek, the only difference between the two Konig tire chains that fit your 225/55-18 tires is the ease of install: - Easiest Install: Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains - Diamond...

  • Recommended Class S Tire Chains for a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek with 225/60-17 Tires
Tire chains that use cables, like what you find with part # TC339DC, are pretty much a one-time use as they are essentially a cheap way to say that you have chains when the law requires it. If you're needing to use actual chains then I have a few options that are Class S compatible and will fit the 225/60R17 tires on your 2019 Subaru Crosstrek. The Konig CB12 # TH01221104 are the next step up, will be easier to install, and will be a major upgrade to entry-level cable-style chains when...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains For a 2024 Honda HR-V
I recommend using the Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains on your 2024 Honda HR-V. These are my favorite chains because of how easy they are to install and since it is always cold and snowy/ice when you need to install them it only makes sense to get them on as quickly as possible and get back inside your warm car. You will need either the Chains # TH04115103 if you have the 215/60R17 tires or the Chains # TH04115104 if you have 225/55R18 tires.

  • Are The Tire Chains Placed On The Front or Rear Axle of a 2019 Ford Escape 4 Wheel Drive?
Per the owners manual on your 2019 Ford Escape it specifies to use the chains on the front axle. The 235/55-17 is the only tire size on your Escape which will allow for the use of tire chains and they must be 10mm or smaller. The Konig Easy Fit Tire Chains # TH04115104 meet these guidelines and are some of the easiest to install.

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2019 Subaru Crosstrek AWD
When it comes to vehicles with limited clearance in the wheel wells, Class S chains are required to keep the chains from damaging any of the components that sit close to the tires; they won't keep things from getting damaged in the event of a catastrophic malfunction but as long as you follow the prescribed speeds and proper installation of the chains the chances of that are extremely limited. With that said, the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - CB12 - Size...

  • Tire Chains for AWD Subaru Forester 2018
You'll have to check with the local area laws but it should be just a single axle and on the primary drive axle which should be the front axle on your 2018 Subaru Forester. I checked and for both sizes of tires that your 2018 Subaru Forester would come with 225/55-18 and 225/60-17 the Thule chains part # TH01221104 are a confirmed fit. If you wanted something easier to install the Easy Fit chains part # TH04115104 install in a matter of seconds and doesn't require crawling around in the snow.

For low profile tire chains that fit your tire size of 245/45/R18 I would highly recommend the Thule Easy Fit tire chains part # TH04115104. These chains are my favorite because they only require 9 mm of inner clearance, they have a 5 year warranty, but mainly because of how easy they are to install.
