Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

Konig's Easy Fit snow chains are are just that - an easy fit. Just slide them over the tire and step on a pedal to tension them. The chains finish self-tensioning after a full tire rotation. These are excellent if you're looking for chains that are completely effortless because there's no reaching around the tire to make connections, driving forward and rechecking the tension, or crawling around on the cold, wet ground to install them. Removing the Easy Fit is just as simple - pull the red pin in the middle and push the red buttons at the bottom of the center element to release tension, then unwrap the chain from around the tire.

They're also great all-purpose winter weather chains. so if you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and incredibly easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with square or V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

Konig snow chains are handmade in Italy of hardened manganese nickel alloy steel for ultimate durability. The center tensioning element on each Easy Fit chain is made of rustproof aluminum for lasting effectiveness.

Class S Designation

SAE Class S tire chains are designed for use on passenger vehicles with restricted wheel-well clearance. Most newer cars, vans, and small trucks - especially those with large aftermarket tires - will require Class S chains. If you're unsure about the class of your vehicle, consult your vehicle's owner's manual.

SAE Class S Clearance Diagram

These chains will fit your tires provided there is both:

  • A - a minimum of 1.46" (37 mm) between the top of the tire tread and the wheel well
  • B - at least 0.59" (15 mm) between the tire's sidewall and the vehicle

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you wont be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly easy and it doesn't require crawling around on the cold, wet ground to make connections, or getting out to readjust them after driving a short distance.

Pull sides of the rigid arch apart to extend wire

1. Open the rigid arch section of the chain and pull the sides apart.

Tuck the rigid arch behind the tire, starting at the top, and tug chains down

2. Drape the chain over the top of the tire and tug down to fit it all the way around the bottom. (If you're testing these on bare pavement, the red cable may not fit under your tire like it would in snow.)

Flip pedal out, step on it until it clicks

3. Flip the pedal out and step on it, pushing it down the track of the center bar until it clicks in place at the bottom.

Replace pedal into travel position and attach tensioners to side chains

4. Pop the pedal back into the locked position.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chains, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire, as shown below.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates the width
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Recommended Snow Chains or Cables for 2010 Toyota Prius
For a 2010 Toyota Prius, the owners manual specifies to use class s tire chains or cables. If she has 15 inch wheels with the factory 195/65-15 tires, then I recommend the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - K-Summit - Size K23 # TH02230K23 for the best traction and zero internal clearance so they are sure to work well. If ease of installation along with traction is the priority, then I recommend the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2015 Toyota Prius
When it comes to use of tire chains the auto maker gets the final word. Toyota indicates in their online manual (pages 182/3/4) for the 2015 Toyota Prius that FRONT tires can be fitted with special low-profile S Class type chains for speeds up to 30-mph. S Class chains come in both cable and chain types. The correct size will vary depending on the tire size on the car. Do check your own printed manual in case it has different information. Your Prius left the factory with either of two...

  • Recommended Snow Tire Chains For 2016 Toyota Corolla
The chain laws vary from state to state, so you may want to check with which states you are driving through. The snow chains come in pairs, so you will have two chains for your drive axle. Since your vehicle is front wheel drive, you will only need chains on your front tires. I looked your owners manual up online and found there are recommendations for each size tire. Class S will meet these requirements. The Titan Cable Chains, ladder pattern will meet all you legal criteria and are...

  • Tire Snow Chain Fit on Toyota Prius with 195/65R15 Radial Tires
Tire size is one aspect of compatibility for considering use of a tire chain; the other is the year/make/model and version of the vehicle. A Thule chain that does fit this tire size is their # TH04115080. These are the S-Class type that require less clearance in the wheel wells. The Thule chains # TH01221090 that you referenced do not fit your tire size. Auto makers get the final word on whether their vehicles are suitable for use with tire chains. Some cars can use only special low-clearance...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for a 2011 Toyota Prius with 195/65R15 Tires
For some standard chains I really like the Konig Self-Tensioning, Low-Profile Snow Tire Chains # TH2004205080 for the 195/65R15 tires on your 2011 Toyota Prius. These are fairly easy to install and the self-tensioning feature means that these will sit snug on your tires. If you're looking for something a little fancier then check out the Konig Easy Fit CU9 # TH04115080 which are arguably the easiest chains to install on the market. You literally drape them over and then step on the tensioner...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2006 Honda Ridgeline and 2016 Toyota Corolla
For the 2016 Toyota Corolla you need to have tire chains that are S Class Compatible. For easy to install chains I suggest the Thule Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains # TH04255080. They automatically tighten as you drive making them extremely easy to install. They do require an internal clearance of 10 mm so you will want to make sure you have the space. If you do not have the space, another option is the Thule Premium Self-Tensioning Snow Chains # TH02230K23 which do not require any...

  • Snow Chain Recommendation for a 2013 Toyota Prius II
First thing you will need to do is check the owners manual of your 2013 Prius to see if there are any restrictions on snow chain usage. If you determine that snow chains can be used the best recommendation I could make would be the Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains # TH04115080 that you referenced. These will last a long time and are the easiest chain around to install. For more of an infrequent use chain I would go with the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains # TC1535. These...

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 2012 Volkswagen Jetta for Use on Mountain Roads
Your first step when considering tire chains on any vehicle is a check of the owner's manual for any guidance or restrictions regarding their use. Many passenger cars are limited to using special low-profile S-Class chains that do not require too much wheel well clearance. Before purchasing any tire chain check your vehicle's manual carefully and if in doubt speak to your local dealership. The key to selecting suitable tire chains is to match the chain to your tire size. A 2012 Volkswagen...

  • Recommended Tire Chains for 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club
I checked your owners manual and the Thule Self-Tensioning, Low-Pro Snow Tire Chains # TH04115080 are a confirmed fit not only for your tire size, but they will work specifically on your 2016 Mazda MX-5 Miata Club. Your owner's manual recommends you not go faster than 30 mph while using the chains, and that you use them on the rear tires only. It is not recommended to use chains on the temporary spare tire, and you are not to use the chains on roads that are free of snow or ice as the...

  • Recommended Glacier Tire Chains for 1997 Chrysler Cirrus with 195/65-15 Size Tires
The Glacier V-Trac Cable Snow Tire Chains (DISCONTINUED) PW1946V are designed to fit a range of tire sizes but they do not fit 195/65/15 tires. The correct cable-type chain for your tire size is part # PW1030 which is shown in the linked PAGE. All chains suitable for your tire size are shown on the linked page. Tire chains vary a lot in how easy they are to install and remove. Chains that are harder to install tend not to be used and they'll do you no good in your trunk. If you truly expect...

  • Recommendation for Tire Chain on a 2012 VW Golf
Good news, I can help you pick out a pair of tire chains for your 2012 Volkswagen Golf. The chains that will fit your Golf will depend on what size tire you have. Three of the most common sizes for this vehicle are the 195/65-15, 225/40-18, and the 225/45-17. I would highly recommend the Thule Self Tensioning Snow Chains # TH04115080 for the 195/65-15, the # TH04115097 for the 225/40-18 or # TH04115095 for the 225/45-17, because of the super easy mounting and removal process.
