Hauling a single e-bike or a fully built rig is no problem here. The Piston SR handles up to 100 lbs, giving you all the muscle needed for today’s heavy rides. It’s equally at home with carbon frames, fat tires, or custom paint jobs since it secures the bike by the wheels only—no frame contact, no scratches. In a chassis-mounted RV hitch the capacity is 67 lbs, so your setup stays safe even on rougher roads.
Lifting a heavy e-bike can be tough, but this rack makes it simple. The hydro-pneumatic ratcheting arms deploy with a tap of the lever so you can load and lock the wheels without wrestling the frame. For even easier loading, a telescoping aluminum ramp (sold separately) connects right to the tray, letting you roll the bike on instead of lifting it.
Once it’s in the hitch, the Piston SR stays put. The flatlock cam system tightens the rack inside the 2" receiver to eliminate play and rattle. Each strut carries a Kashima coating that reduces friction and resists wear, keeping motion smooth and noise low mile after mile.
When you step away, both the rack and bike stay protected. Keyed-alike locks secure the rack to the hitch and the bike to the rack, adding solid peace of mind whether you’re stopping for coffee or camping overnight.
If you want to use your hitch for towing, just remove the included adapter and mount the rack on your crossbars instead. It fits round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars up to 4-1/2" wide x 1-3/4" tall, with a 25"–51" crossbar spread. At 42 lbs with the adapter and 23 lbs without, it’s light enough to move between setups without a struggle.

Excellent rack. Quality build, great design, easy to use. No hindrance to back up camera view. Works with my fender. Will take a ramp for heavy e-bikes. The best part was etrailer's delivery. I needed the rack by July 3rd for a July 4th ride and Kuat was out of stock. But etrailer came through by delivering the rack in 3 days. Thank you etrailer!

Trying to find a single carrier for a 65 pound bike took a while, it I couldn't find anything even near this rack.

So simple to install - less than 2 minutes - easy to load with the ramp from Kuat.

Would have been 5 stars but there were NO instructions included...a upc code but no instructions. A 7mm hex wrench would have been nice for the $[XX]+ price.

Great heavy duty rack. Had no issues or worries hauling home my brand new mtn ebike with it. Very impressed.
4 screws up underneath the rack attach it to the 2" receiver....any thief knowing this can take the rack and your bike in a jiffy.
Solid as a rock! The company who makes it, will call and text you through any assembly curves. I suggest getting strap kit or get it a bike shop.
This rack is very good. But I knew that already. The reason for docking a star is that the hitch lock and cable lock on the rack are keyed differently. With identical-looking keys. This is just unnecessary confusion and yet another key to keep track of. There is no reason I can think of that these couldn't be matched. Ordered this from etrailer largely because it was in stock and shipping was free. Price on these items are obviously closely controlled by the manufacturer, so no price break here, same as everywhere else. Shipping was quick and I was kept well-informed.

A year in, still love the rack. Still wish it used a single key. Sometimes, after drives on unpaved roads, the piston shaft gets “gritty” and doesn’t operate as smoothly - but a good hosing-off when you get home fixes that. Its functionality, stiffness and hands-free deployment keep it the best in class for a single-bike rack.

The rack is excellent and very sturdy. Easy to assemble. Well made. I gave it a four star rating because, for some odd reason, Kuat does not include a 7 mm hex key which is necessary in order to remove the bump stop so as to install an e-bike ramp.

The rack looks great on the back of your Ram! Looks like you are ready to hit the trails. What kind of bike is that?
Very easy to use. Easy to assemble onto the hitch for my truck receiver. Holds my new Trek bike solid. It comes with parts for putting on top of your vehicle. I didn't use but have held onto. It's well worth the cost to just go for a bike ride and elevate the hassle of other racks. highly recommend.
Overall the rack is solid AF, fits my FJ cruise as expected and can still open rear with bike off. The reason for deducting 1 star is the tray could be deeper allowing the arms to effectively engage higher and the higher channel walls help stabilize fron wheel better. For 29x2.6" mtb tires and especially my 29x2.8" mtb will want to strap front wheel to downtube for added stability.

After a year of use, I would raise my initial rating to 5 stars. The stability of the bike has been solid even on forest roads, real 4x4 may want to add a strap. Now using this on a 2025 GMC Sierra 1500, handlebar just clears window with a softtopper. With a hard cap would likely need a 6 hitch extender.
