Note: To determine whether you can use snow chains on your vehicle, or if they might affect your ABS/EPS functionality, consult your owner's manual.

The Konig XB-16 Pro tire chains are great all-purpose, winter weather chains. If you live in an area where you're likely to get periodic snow and ice, these Konig chains are perfect because they're durable and easy to mount. If you're more likely to see seriously icy conditions, you may want a chain with V-bar links that can really bite into the ice to give you maximum traction.

These chains are among the easiest and fastest to install because they have built-in tensioners that you can just pull taut to adjust the fit. These tensioners allow the chains to fit your tires, no matter the profile or wear pattern. And because the tensioners are built-in, you never have to worry about losing them like you might with other chains on the market.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even these low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Tire Chains

Installing these chains is incredibly simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in the chains.

Connect the ends of the blue cable

2. Slide the chain behind the tire and connect the ends of the blue cable, which will sit behind the tire.

Connect the hook and link in front of the tire

3. Around front, connect the red hook to the red link.

Feed tensioning chain through clip

4. At the bottom of the tire, feed the tensioning chain through the large clip and tug it until it's tight.

Stretch the hook across the tire

5. Feed the tensioning chain through as many red clips along the side chain as you can, leaving room to still be able to stretch the hook across the tire. Attach the hook to the side chain directly across from the last clip you ran the tensioner through. The hook should face away from your tire.

6. Drive forward around 325' (about the length of a football field) and stop. Check the chains and tighten them as needed.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing cables out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Tire Chains that Can be Used on Tire Size 225/75-16 of Minnie Winnie Motorhome
The Titan Tire chains part # TC1142 are a fit for your tire size of 225/75-16 and can be used on your motorhome but due that extra weight they would wear out quicker than if it was a lighter vehicle. If you wanted a set of chains that use a harder metal that wouldn't wear out as quickly we have the Konig chains part # TH01571245 which would work great and install a little easier as well. Also has built in tensioners.

  • Tire Chain Recommendation for 215/85R16 Tires on 2016 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500
I recommend using the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains XB16 # TH01571245 for the 215/85R16 tires on your 2016 MB Sprinter van. These are designed for a heavier vehicle like what you have and will do a great job at helping you stay mobile in the snow. If you're looking for something a little more cost-effective then we have the Titan Chain # TC2317 which will get the job done but isn't as good of quality as the Konig chains. For example, the Konig chains come with a 5-year limited warranty...

  • Tire Chains Needed For A 2017 Ram ProMaster 2500 RV
Hey Bruno, What's your tire size? I'd prefer to confirm if the Konig Commercial Truck Tire Chains # TH01571245 is compatible. The owner's manual for a 2017 Ram ProMaster 2500 states to only use tire chains on the front axle only. Since this is also the drive axle it makes more sense to have the chains here to grip the ice/snow on the road. This kit includes two sets of chains to cover both wheels of the front axle.

  • Best Snow Chain Options for Tire Size 225/75R16 on RV
We have several great and different options for tire chains for the size 225/75R16 that you have on your RV. The absolute best and easiest option is the Easy Fit part # TH04115245 which install in a matter of seconds, provide great traction, and also will last the longest. The are higher in price. If you wanted a higher quality chain with a lower price that would take a bit longer to install the Konig standards part # TH01571245 will offer great traction and last a long time but will...

  • Comparing the Konig XB16 and XG12 Tire Chains for My 2006 Sprinter Van
The Konig XG12 Pro # TH01594245 tire chains will be easier to install on the 225/76-16 tires for your 2006 Dodge Sprinter, but you are correct that you need to go with the XB16 # TH01571245 instead. I recently reached out to Konig who said that the chains themselves don't necessarily have a weight rating but the smaller chains don't work well for larger vehicles like your Sprinter as they can be damaged. The XB16 chains will work great for your application though so that's what I recommend...

  • What Konig Snow Tire Chain Do You Recommend For My 2021 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid XSE With 225/60R 18 Tires
Even though the owner's manual of your 2021 Toyota RAV4 XSWE Hybrid says you do not have to use Class S compatible snow chains, I would stick with the Konig Self-Tensioning Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XG12 Pro - Size 245, part # TH01594245. The Class S snow chains are designed to fit wheel wells with tight tolerances. I did see, in your owner's manual, that you cannot use the LTA system when you have these snow chains installed on your tires. So at the very least, when...

  • Differences Between Konig XB16 and XG12 Snow Chains
One big difference between the XB16 chains like part # TH01571245 and XG12 chains like the # TH01594245 is the link size which is hinted at in the title of the chains. The XB16 requires 16 mm of clearance and the XG12 only requires 12 mm. They are similar styles of chains that use the same principals for install and tensioning but overall the XG12 is a bit easier. This is due to mainly the difference in the tensioning devices. The XG12 has a ratcheting setup on the tensioner which makes...

  • Tire Chains for a Mercedes Sprinter RV with LT215/85-16 Tires
The first thing you are going to want to do is consult the Sprinter owners manual for specific information on the use of tire chains. If you need Class S chains which require the least amount of clearance around the tire I recommend Glacier square-link chains # TC2317. The square-links offer the best traction and they are constructed of low-carbon steel so they should last you a long time especially if they will not be used very often. You would also want rubber adjusters, # PW99 to help...

I wasn't quite sure if you were looking for single tire or dual tire chains so I'll add my recommendation for both. For single tires I recommend the Konig XB16 # TH01571245 because they have great quality and used D-Links in a diamond pattern for a consistent ride quality. Then for dual tires I recommend the Titan Chain Snow Chains # TC4219CAM which have a twist link in a...

Yes, the Konig Standard Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - D Link - XB16 - Size 245, part # TH01571245, will fit your vehicle. Since these tire chains are not Class S compatible, you will need to mindful of the wheel well tolerances of your vehicle. This is also why they are better for offroad use, they are made from steel and they have larger D-links. I have included a video review of these snow tire chains below.

For your 2017 Nissan Rogue with 225/65-17 tires, I recommend the Titan Chain Alloy Snow Tire Chains - Diamond Pattern - Square Link - 1 Pair # TC1555. These will work well for you and won't break the bank. They aren't the best or the worst, but will give you traction when you need it to stay legal and will also not be a pain to install. Also, when your 2017 BMW X3's manual states that you need "fine link" chains it means there isn't a lot of clearance between the tires and any parts of the vehicle so you need to use chains that are designed for this.
