These Titan Chain ladder-pattern chain a great winter weather chain for your truck. Rounded twist links provide traction in snow and on ice so you can keep working. Twist cross chain links offer a smoother ride than traditional square links.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer. You'll also need to know how much clearance is in your wheel well, which you can determine by measuring from your tire tread to the sidewall of the wheel well.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. Even low-profile chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Installing Snow Chains

Installing these chains is simple.

Lay chains on the ground to get all the tangles out

1. Lay out the chains on the ground to make sure there are no twists or kinks in them.

Drape chains over tire.

2. Drape the chains over the tire.

Connect the chain behind the tire

3. On the back of the tire, pull the chain tight and hook the ends together. Repeat this on the side chain on the front of the tire, then clamp the lever to fasten extra chain links and keep them from flapping as you drive.

Tension cams

4. Insert the included tool into the cam and twist to tighten the sidewall chain. Twist as many cams as it takes to get a tight fit.

Attach optional tensioners

5. Drive forward and recheck tension. Tighten any loose cams.

Rubber adjusters (sold separately) can be used to help give you a tight fit. Make sure the hooks on the adjusters face away from your tire so your wheels don't get scratched.

Quick Tips:

  • Lengthen the life of snow chains by drying them after each use before you store them.
  • Check out our installation kit with safety lights and a kneeling pad (PO34FRK) to make things a little easier when you're installing chains out in the snow.

How to Choose Snow Chains for Your Vehicle

To choose the right snow chain, you must match your tire size. Those measurements can be found on the side of your tire.

Tire size on sidewall

185/60-15

  1. (185) - indicates tire width in millimeters
  2. (60) - gives you the aspect ratio (sidewall height as percentage of width)
  3. (15) - denotes the diameter of the wheel rim in inches

  • Comparing Twist Link and V-Bar Style Tire Chains
Twist link chains offer excellent traction in deep snow and some are even rated for mud. They provide decent traction on ice, and since they have rounded edges ride quality isn't too bad. V-Bar chains are similar but have better grip on ice. For your Ram 3500 with tires sized 275/55/20 a twist link chain would be the Titan Chain # TC2228CAM. These also come with cams for a desired tight fit. For V-bar chains you can use the Titan Chain # TC2828 chains. These can be used on or off road.

Hey Justin, yeah that does look really loose. Can you verify that you have all of the cam tensioners tight and that is for sure your tire size? If so, you would need to trim down the cross chains and then use the repair link part # TC250CCRL to mend the chain once the section is removed.

Hey Edward. I checked with Titan Chain and for your 265/65R16 tires, they recommend the Titan Chain Tire Chains w/ Cams - Ladder Pattern - Twist Link - Assisted Tensioning - 1 Pair item # TC2229CAM or item # TC2229 for manual tensioning. The item # TC2829CAM aren't what they recommend. Yes, the Titan Snow Tire Chains # TC2228CAM will fit many tire sizes including the 265/70-17 tires on your 2015 Toyota 4Runner. These chains include cam tighteners that take up the slack for a proper fit so you do not have to count links. An installation video is linked for you. It is recommended that you check your particular 4Runner owner's manual for any guidance regarding use of tire chains. I reviewed an online manual on the Toyota site and it indicates that chains of the appropriate...

  • Extra Length of Chain for Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains on 2015 Toyota Tacoma
The Titan Chain Snow Tire Chains with Cams # TC2228CAM that fit your 2015 Toyota Tacoma with 265/70R16 tires can have some extra chain, and there are a couple of ways to deal with it. According to Titan, you can tie it off, or you can cut the extra length off if you like. I recommend leaving an extra link or two, securing those with a tie and cutting off the rest, just to be sure you have a little extra slack. I also recommend using adjusters for the tightest fit, the Titan Chain Multi-Arm...

  • How Do I Make My Tire Chains Tighter on My 2017 F-150 with Tire Size 265/60/18?
From the part number and the photos you provided, I am assuming you mean the Titan Snow Chains # TC2228CAM for your 265/60-18 tires on your 2017 Ford F-150. You are correct in determining that these chains will fit your tires. As far as troubleshooting the fitment issue, the first thing you need to check is to make sure there is no overlap of any of the links (they should all be completely spread out without bunching). The next thing is tightening; from the photos, it looks like the issue...

  • Snow Chains for 2018 Volvo XC90 with 275/45r20 Tires
From what I was able to find with my research it looks like Volvo does not recommend chains on wheels larger than 19", so your 20" wheels are going to be slightly too large and using chains on them might potentially damage some of the steering or suspension components. According to Konig, there isn't a K-Summit chain available that's compatible with your 255/60-20 tire size. We do offer chains that will fit that tire size, but nothing that offers rim protection. The easiest to install chains would be a cam-tensioner style chain like the Titan Chain # TC2228CAM. Even though the chains offer integrated cams to tighten them, I'd still recommend using a tensioner like part # TCMA2 to keep the chains tight to the tire. What I've seen folks do in the past...

There are a few different styles of tire chains which have a different benefits. The V-bar chains are really great for icy conditions as they break up ice well. The square link chains are great for deep snow, and twist links are lower profile and rounder so they provide a smoother ride quality. Diamond pattern is also a bit smoother too since the links are angled across the tops of the tire. They also provide great turning traction too since the chain doesn't go perfectly across the top...
