Question:

Hi there, I am looking at the following chains for my 2018 Volvo XC90 with Tires 275/45 R20. I wanted to know if these are safe / compatible to use with my car. Im also assuming they should be installed on the front wheels only but it would be great to get some clarification. Thanks for your help

From what I was able to find with my research it looks like Volvo does not recommend chains on wheels larger than 19", so your 20" wheels are going to be slightly too large and using chains on them might potentially damage some of the steering or suspension components. I do recommend checking your vehicle's owner's manual to confirm this.

If your manual states that chains can be used, the Titan # TC2228CAM are a confirmed fit for your tires and would be a good choice. You also may want to look at the ISSE Hybrid Snow Socks - Size 72 - 1 Pair # TCH72, which are a fabric snow sock that work in the same manner as chains, but don't have anything that could potentially break and damage the vehicle.
