Today we're going to be taking a look at the CE Smith U-bolt plate for trailer suspension systems. The U-bolt plate is going to help secure a 1-3/4 inch diameter axle, so a 1-3/4 inch wide leaf spring. This unit is going to require two 3/8 inch diameter U-bolts. Those u-bolts are sold separately, but the four outer holes on the unit are designed to accept 3/8 inch diameter bolts. The unit is made from galvanized steel, so it's very strong and durable. The product's made right here in the USA. A few measurements to go over with you real quick starting with the overall length, it's going to measure 3-1/2 inches. Now the holes right here, these are going to be separated on center from one another by 2-1/2 of an inch. The overall width, that's going to give us a measurement of 3 inches and then those holes are going to be separated apart from one another on center by 2 inches. Good product with zinc oxide coating to resist corrosion. I would give this product a better rating but truthfully, it needs to be thicker to resist bending when the 1/2-13 u-bolts are tighten to recommended torque specifications.
