This actuator is built to handle serious weight. With a 12,500-lb capacity and 1,250-lb maximum tongue weight, it’s ready for heavy farm or construction trailers that run drum brakes. The hydraulic surge system automatically syncs your trailer brakes with your tow vehicle, so braking feels consistent and controlled even when you’re carrying a full load.
The unique roller design keeps the inner slide moving in a straight line with less resistance. That means smoother engagement when the trailer pushes forward and more reliable braking without binding or jerking. It’s a simple mechanical advantage that makes every stop steadier and easier to manage.
The actuator’s sturdy steel construction is made to resist bending in jackknife situations and hold up under daily use. The primed finish gives you a good base for paint so you can match it to your trailer and add another layer of protection against the elements. It’s tough enough for work trailers that see constant use in rough conditions.
Getting the height right is easy with the 3-position adjustable channel. You can raise or lower the included lunette ring within a 4" vertical range, which helps line up your pintle hitch perfectly for level towing. The bolt-on design fits over a standard 3" channel tongue so you can mount it solidly without special brackets or welding.
A built-in breakaway kit keeps things under control if your trailer ever separates from the tow vehicle. It’s designed to apply the brakes automatically in an emergency, helping prevent runaways and giving you extra peace of mind whenever you’re hauling heavy gear.

Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Titan bolt-on adjustable channel drum break actuator with the lunette ring. Has a 12,500 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer's brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, deceleration occurs, and the momentum will push your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle.
And with a surge brake system like this the actuator is triggered as your trailer moves forward once your tow vehicle starts to slow down. So when this happens, this actuator, the inner portion here will contract and it applies force to the master cylinder in the back here. And this in turn supplies the necessary hydraulic pressure to engage your trailer's brakes. This one is a unique top roller design. Roller right up here at the top.
This roller reduces the resistance during the telescoping to create nice straight line movement. Also, if you notice, they do insert a grease zerk fitting on the end of the roller. So it allows you to attach a grease gun to it and pump grease in there for easy lubrication. This is an adjustable channel design. Has three different mounting positions for your coupler.
The lunette ring here is for use with pintle hitches. So you can move it up or down into three different positions gives you a vertical range of about four inches of adjustment. This is a nice sturdy, durable steel construction. Resists bending in any jackknife situations. You can see it has a nice prime finish to it to provide corrosion resistance.
Now the breakaway kit, right here if you notice this chain with the hook on the end attaches to this lever right here. This is a breakaway kit and that prevents a trailer runaway situation and it is required by law. Basically, when you hook up to your tow vehicle you will also hook this hook to your tow vehicle. So the chains hook to it, and what that does, if by chance this comes detached from your tow vehicle, it'll pull that chain, which will activate the lever. And then that lever activates the master cylinder to apply the brakes. So it'll prevent a trailer runaway situation. Now this is a bolt on installation. If you look down here at the bottom, it does mount to a straight three inch wide trailer tone. Application. This is for trailers with hydraulic drum brakes. Gross towing weight capacity is 12,500 pounds. Next one-ton weight capacity is 1,250 pounds. And one note I do wanna mention on this is because this actuator does not include a reverse lockout on the back here of the master cylinder, it is recommended that you equip the trailer with either the reverse lockout solenoid that'll screw in line here, or that you have free-backing brakes on your trailer so that you could drive in reverse without this actuator triggering your trailer's brakes. But that should do it for the review on this Titan bolt-on adjustable channel drum break actuator with the lunette ring. Has a 12,500 pound gross towing weight capacity..
