This surge actuator builds solid braking confidence on trailers with hydraulic disc brakes. Rated for 8,000 lbs gross towing weight and 800 lbs tongue weight, it uses a hydraulic system that activates automatically when the tow vehicle slows down. The heavy-duty steel construction and compression shock inside keep braking smooth and controlled under load. At 26-7/8" long and 35 lbs, it’s a compact but tough setup designed for consistent stopping performance trip after trip.
Backing into a tight spot or up an incline is easier thanks to the electric reverse lockout. The built-in solenoid activates automatically through your trailer connector when you shift into reverse, keeping the brakes from engaging. It works with 5-pole flat, 6-way round, or 7-pole connectors so you can move freely without fighting your trailer brakes.
The master cylinder is made of glass-reinforced nylon that resists rust and corrosion better than metal housings. A large brake fluid reservoir gives extra capacity to prevent running dry, while the automotive-style diaphragm cap seals the system to protect the fluid from contamination. An acetal copolymer lining keeps internal movement smooth every time the actuator telescopes in and out.
The integrated 8" adjustable channel makes it easy to dial in your coupler height so your trailer sits level. You can mount a standard ball coupler, lunette ring, or clevis attachment (sold separately) in one of three positions for a clean fit. The channel is built for a straight 3"-wide trailer tongue and can be either bolted on or welded using 1/2" x 4-1/2" Grade 5 bolts (not included).
A breakaway system is built right into the actuator to bring your trailer to a stop if it ever separates from the tow vehicle. It’s a simple layer of safety that works automatically and gives extra peace of mind every time you tow. The primed finish lets you paint it to match your trailer once everything is installed.

Arrived in good condition, although box was in bad shape. Just got it and disassembled to fit up and weld on 1978 Airstream 31' Excello 500. Will have to reposition jack and possibly propane tank mounts. This trailer originally had a vacuum brake booster. will update when installed.

replaced actuator on utility trailer, updated frame and axles, was time to complete with correct weight actuator,, went from 7k to 12.5k and has by pass for auto back up anti lock.. this is mcuh better than non by-pass type

I received the coupler on time but was missing the reverse solenoid. My installation was a little unique do to replacing a super short Atwood unit. I also had to modify the channel as well, you may not have to for your application.
