Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a quick look at this Timken replacement bearing. Now, this is a high quality 387A tapered roller bearing that's gonna replace an inner bearing for your 8-288-3 hub, or an outer bearing for your 8-214-5 hub. So if you have either one of those hubs, this is gonna work great for you. It's gonna be a very high quality option. If you're not familiar, Timken is one of the most well-known and highly trusted brands in the industry because their products are engineered with higher quality controls which ensures tighter tolerances and run out than other manufacturers.

That's gonna help reduce any vibrations and noise and lead to a longer bearing life when you have it properly installed, and that higher quality is even evident in the way the product is packaged. It is going to arrive to you in an individual cardboard box inside a plastic protective sleeve. It is oiled. It's got a protective oil finish on there to help resist any surface rust and that sort of thing. So it's gonna arrive to you in great condition and it is gonna be very high quality option for you.

You can see this does use the industry standard number. So we've got that printed on that inner circle or cone. We've got that 387A printed there. So very simple to make sure that this is gonna work for you. If you see that number on your bearing that you're replacing, you can trust it's gonna be a very easy swap out and you'll be ready to go.

If you're looking to verify that it's gonna work and you don't see that number, you can go off the race. This is gonna work with the races that you see there. So if you see any of those numbers on your race, it's a very good chance this will work for you. The only other way to determine if it's gonna work or not is to measure. So we will measure the inner diameter here and that is a very precise measurement.

So you wanna make sure you're using some digital calipers that go down to thousandth of an inch. So you can see our inner diameter here, we're sitting right at 2.250 inches. So again, it'll be much easier if you can find that industry standard number printed on there on your bearing that you're replacing or go off that race number if you can find that. But as a third option, you can always measure that, but it is pretty precise. So it might be a little bit more difficult, but after you confirm that this is gonna fit, this is gonna be a really great quality, pretty top of the line kind of setup here, so be a great option to get installed.
