Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a quick look at this Timken replacement HM218248 trailer wheel bearing. This is a high-quality tapered roller bearing that's gonna replace an outer bearing for your 20,000 pound to 25,000 pound axle. This is a Timken product, and if you're not familiar, Timken does have a great name within the industry. They're very well known and highly trusted for their products 'cause they are engineered with higher quality controls which ensures that they have tighter tolerances and run out than your other manufacturers. That's gonna help reduce the vibrations and noise and lead to longer bearing life when properly installed.
And you can tell these are gonna be a higher quality even in the way they're packaged. They do come individually boxed and oiled. So they're gonna arrive to you in great condition, ready to be installed. Now you do obviously wanna make sure that you're getting the right bearing. So easy way to tell, you can see we do have the industry standard number here.
The HM218248 that's printed on that inner circle or cone there. So if you see that number on the bearing that you're removing, you can trust that it's gonna fit right in place. Otherwise, you can check your races. This is gonna work with the race numbers that you see on the screen there. So if you have either one of those, if you can't find the number on the bearing itself, check the races, make sure that it's gonna work for those.
And then if you can't find any of those numbers, the last option would be to measure your inner diameter here. And that is gonna be very precise. So you wanna use some digital calipers, and you can see our inner diameter here is going to measure at that 3.542 of an inch. But if this is gonna fit for you, I think this is gonna be a great way to go. Definitely your higher quality construction engineering.
