Disc Brakes are Better Than Drum Brakes
More and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes, and with good reason. Unlike drum brakes, disc brakes deliver consistent braking, even at highway speeds. Disc brakes also offer a substantially shorter stopping distance. Disc brake calipers have only one moving part, so there are fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged, and fewer parts to have to repair or replace.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit with the electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator, and this is for a single 6,000 pound trailer axle, has the six on five and a half inch bolt pattern. Now this is an all inclusive kit. This will have everything you need to switch your trailer over to disc brakes for improved performance and greater stopping power. This will come with everything shown here on the table and it gives you the two disc brake end kits for one axle. The Dacromet-coated hub and rotor assemblies have the half inch diameter wheel studs, and on the inside they pre-install the bearing races.
Does also come with the inner and outer bearings, The grease seals, the Dacromet-coated calipers with brake pads and installation bolts, and they're mounted, I have already mounted them onto the Dacromet-coated caliper mounting brackets, which are designed to attach to a five bolt brake flange on your axle. Now we've mentioned the Dacromet coating, it is corrosion resistant. Now the hydraulic actuator, I want just zoom in on, it's an electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator. This will activate your trailer brakes when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle. Basically installs on the trailer frame and it'll connect to the trailer's wiring.
Does include the brake line kit. Now this will create a nice, smooth, even braking, gives you a nice fast response time. And this actuator is designed to work with most in-cab brake controllers. Now we mentioned the brake line kit. If you can see here, it'll include the solid brake lines, over here, the flexible brake lines, all the fittings you need for installation on a single axle trailer.
Now we do list on the product page of this product, all of the part numbers that are included with this kit. Now more and more people are switching their trailers over to disc brakes and with good reason. Unlike drum brakes, these disc brakes will deliver consistent braking even at highway speeds. And the disc brakes also offer substantially shorter stopping distance. Now the disc brake caliper right here, they basically have only one moving part, so there's fewer parts to maintain, fewer parts to get damaged, and fewer parts that have to be repaired or replaced.
Application again, this kit is for a single axle trailer with a 6,000 pound axle. Bolt pattern again, six on five and a half inches. The rotor diameter is 12 inches. And again, we mentioned the wheel stud diameter's half an inch. But that should do it for a look at the Hydrastar Disc Brake Kit with the electric-over-hydraulic brake actuator for your single 6,000 pound trailer axle.
The folks at E-trailer are amazing. Great customer service and support. The hydastar ki obviously speaks for itself, superior product by far. Best brake upgrade for marine application on the market.
