Features to know about

Upgrade Old or Rusted Brakes: Stainless Steel Disc Kit for Long-Term Reliability

If your trailer’s brakes are worn or corroded, this DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit - 13" Rotor - 8 on 6-1/2 - Stainless Steel - 1/2" Bolts - 7K gives you a solid refresh with dependable, rustproof hardware. The stainless steel rotors, calipers, and brackets are built to withstand saltwater, snow, and road salt. Drainage holes in the hat section let water escape quickly, cutting down on corrosion and keeping braking power consistent over time.

Built for Heavy Loads and Confident Stops: 7,000-lb Axle Capacity with Ceramic Pads

This kit is rated for a 7,000-lb axle and includes 13-1/8" rotors with a 2-1/2" piston diameter inside the stainless caliper. The ceramic brake pads deliver strong, smooth, and controlled braking that feels secure even under load. You’ll notice shorter stopping distances and better control, especially when hauling heavy or traveling downhill.

Cooler Running Brakes: Vented Rotors Prevent Fade and Pad Wear

Heat buildup leads to brake fade and faster wear. DeeMaxx tackles this with vented rotors that move air through the core to shed heat fast. Drainage holes in the hat section add even more ventilation than standard vented rotors, helping these brakes stay cooler and last longer—even during demanding towing conditions.

DIY-Friendly Setup: Slip-On Rotors and Laser-Etched Instructions

The slip-on rotors fit right over standard idler hubs and use your existing wheel bolts, so there’s no need to replace the entire hub-and-rotor assembly. Each caliper has laser-etched instructions for bleeding the brakes, taking the guesswork out of setup and maintenance. It’s a straightforward install that includes assemblies needed to upgrade one axle—two slip-on rotors, calipers, and brackets.

Engineered for Longevity: Automotive-Grade Build with 7-Year Warranty

DeeMaxx builds these disc brakes to automotive-grade standards, proven by passing the SAE J2681 test for friction performance. The patented caliper mounting design reduces bolt wear and keeps everything secure in tough conditions. With its stainless construction and a 7-year warranty, this kit is designed to keep stopping power strong season after season.

Video Transcript for Neighbor Interaction with the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit

I'm here with Brian from Jonesing To Go and he has brought his well, tell us about your setup a little bit. This is a 35-foot Montana by Keystone and right now, the way it sits loaded we're about 14,000 pounds. Today, we're gonna upgrade the brakes to hydraulic disc brakes. And this is something that I've been thinking about for quite some time. And when my wife decided that she's finally ready to start pulling the rig, I knew it's time. I've waited too long.

And so right now, I gotta be honest with you I'm like a kid waiting for Christmas. I can't wait to pull this thing and hit the brakes for the first time once this is done. I've heard nothing but fantastic things about what a difference it makes. And quite honestly, you know one close call on the road is one close call too many. And unfortunately, we have those on a regular basis.

So, you know, you always hear that term white knuckle. I don't know if it's white knuckle but when you're on the brakes on the truck and your hand is on the brakes on the brake controller all the way and you're just praying you get stopped in time you know, I've had enough of that. Now we're gonna take it in the shop and get our brakes installed. We're gonna meet up with Brian later and see what he thinks after. So we got the brakes installed, we're out on the road and this is really the maiden voyage with the disc brakes on.

So Brian tows his fifth wheel quite often, so I'm kind of excited to see his reaction as he stops. So once we get to a nice little straightaway we'll jab the brakes and see what it does. So we're on just kind of a industrial straightaway here. So Brian, go ahead, hit the brakes. Wow, what a difference.

I don't think I've ever felt this thing stop like this ever. Since the day it was new. Brad And gain's set at At five. Brad What do you normally have it at Nine. Brad Well, that's good. At nine, it's never, ever braked like this, ever. In fact, there's been times I've wondered if I'm getting stopped at nine. I'm excited about not only being able to stop, but the maintenance is gonna be so much easier. Oh my God, did you feel that (Brad laughs) I hardly pressed the brake. I think he's pretty happy. Yeah. I think he's gonna enjoy these. Now speaking of braking we've actually done a little bit of tests in our parking lot and it's not exactly out on the highway testing but what we've done is we've gotten up to about 15 miles per hour in our parking lot and just used the trailer brakes at full gain and allowed the drum brakes to do what they can to stop it. Now we've gone ahead and done the exact same braking test. Now just with our DeeMaxx brakes installed. Now for a quick visual reference you can see our cone over here to my left and that's where the front of the truck was before with his drum brakes. You can kind of see where his truck is now. So obviously, it's made a huge difference. We went from 117 foot down to 53. So more than half of what we had before. Imagine that being a car on the highway and you have to make a quick movement. Instead of being there, you can be here. So we've just gone ahead and done our post disc brake installation test. What do you think about that (stutters) I'm speechless. I knew it was gonna be good, I knew it was gonna be better. I hoped it would be that, and it definitely is. I'm confident in everything we do now. I'm confident when my wife is behind the wheel towing this now. Before, I wasn't so sure 'cause she's just learning. I don't know why I didn't do it before. Absolutely, and that's really for a towing experience confidence is everything. Being able to be comfortable behind the wheel and not white knuckle makes your trip enjoyable. And the best when it comes to brakes that's definitely something to it's something you wanna put your hat on saying that you have the best brakes because without stopping, well it makes for a not so great experience. It makes a bad day if you can't stop in time. One close call is one close call too many but they're very frequent out there because even though we drive defensively and leave space between cars especially in a metropolitan area there's always that one person that cuts in hits their brakes and, you know you don't know what they're thinking or what they're doing. We can drive as defensively as we want, it's the other guy. And reaction time is everything but the fact that I have the ability to stop now means the world to me. That's awesome. Thank you so much, Brian. Thank you.

Excellent product, price, and service!

by:

Exactly what I was looking for. Very well designed and constructed.

by:

Wow, the calipers, rotors and brackets are awesome.
Great price!

by:

I'm sure the quality of these is good but I'm annoyed that there is no mounting hardware included. The enclosed instructions make multiple references to the "provided hardware" but there is none. So I spent $[XX] each on two brake kits and now I have to drive to town for hardware

by:

They look great!

by:

I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of the break discs and calipers, I’ve spent my life working with equipment of all shapes and size, I can spot quality a mile away.

by:

Call them about an order I had placed. They were super helpful. You can just tell. It’s a good company to deal with. Real people that care not just a computer.

by:

Top Quality! Easy install and they work great! 7yr warranty, I am pleased....

by:

Nice brakes. All stainless even the backing plates for pads. Should be trouble free for a long time.

by:

So far the brake system works very well, the trailer gets immersed in salt water so the system being mostly stainless helps greatly, of course the system still should be washed down with fresh water after salt water contact.

  • What is Difference Between DeeMaxx Disc Brake Part Numbers DE66AR and DE64VR
Hey Ed, there's actually quite a few differences between the two kits. The part # DE66AR is a tandem axle kit for 7k axles that includes everything needed to install disc brakes on a trailer. The rotors are hub/rotors which means the two are integrated into each other. This comes with an actuator and brake lines. The part # DE64VR is simply a pair of slip on rotors, mounting brackets, and calipers. The rotors fit over an idler hub but the hubs, brake lines, and actuator are not included....

  • Disc Brake Replacement for Boat Trailer With 6k Dexter Torsion Axle
Hi Cliff; the inner diameter of the bearings used on 5,200-7,000 lb axles is the same so you can choose a higher rated hub to match the bolt pattern. You can use the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly - 5,200-lb, 6,000-lb and 7,000-lb Axles # 42865-KIT or if you have E-Z lube axles the # 8-231-9UC1-EZ. We also have the # 8-231-50UC1 or # 8-231-50UC1-EZ if you want galvanized hubs since it is a boat trailer. All of these use 1/2" wheel bolts so make sure your current wheels are compatible....
