Question:
I am looking for replacement hubs and disc brakes for 6k capacity dexter torsion axles on my boat trailer. Currently it has 8 lug hubs but the disk brakes are badly corroded. Im not finding any of your kits that are 8lug on Dexter 6k axles. Will the 7K hub/brake kits you have work? Dexter axle is shown as Dex1576475 a122409605 with a date of 2021. On the dexter website they show Part K71-806-00 as compatible, but I really dont prefer the integrated bearing rotor. However, I dont see this available on your website. Thanks in advance for the support! Cliff

Hi Cliff; the inner diameter of the bearings used on 5,200-7,000 lb axles is the same so you can choose a higher rated hub to match the bolt pattern. You can use the Dexter Trailer Idler Hub Assembly - 5,200-lb, 6,000-lb and 7,000-lb Axles # 42865-KIT or if you have E-Z lube axles the # 8-231-9UC1-EZ.
We also have the # 8-231-50UC1 or # 8-231-50UC1-EZ if you want galvanized hubs since it is a boat trailer. All of these use 1/2" wheel bolts so make sure your current wheels are compatible. If that is the size you have now it is safe to say it won't be an issue.
For brakes you can also use a kit rated a little higher, the important thing is matching that bolt pattern and the 1/2" wheel bolts from the hubs. I recommend the DeeMaxx Disc Brake Kit # DE34VR. These have Maxx coating on the rotors, calipers, and brackets for 1,000+ hours of continuous salt spray protection. They also make a stainless steel version # DE64VR.

Thanks for the quick reply Robin, I do have ez lube axles and I will go with the galvanized version. I will measure the stud diameter on the existing hubs, but I believe they are 1/2". Appreciate the support, Thanks, Cliff
