Features to know about

Get Confident Grip on Snow and Ice: Square Links Bite Down Firmly

When the road ices over or the snow piles up, these chains give you steady traction and a smoother ride. The square links dig in evenly for reliable grip, while their smaller size keeps things from getting too bumpy. The diamond pattern spreads that traction across more of the tire, so you stay in control whether you’re climbing through deep snow or easing down slick grades.

No-Stress Chain Tensioning: Self-Tightening System Does the Work

Once you make the front and rear connections, just drive forward and the chains automatically align and tension. There’s no stopping mid-trip to recheck or retighten. The self-centering design keeps the fit snug every time, making these some of the easiest chains you’ll ever use in the snow.

Smooth Ride in Tight Spaces: Class S Design Fits Where Others Don’t

If your wheel wells are short on space, these chains are built to handle it. They meet SAE Class S standards with a low-profile design that needs only 3/8" internal clearance. That means you can get the traction you need without worrying about rubbing or interference inside the wheel well.

Built to Handle Harsh Winter Roads: Manganese Nickel Alloy Steel Construction

Snow, salt, and slush are tough on gear, but these chains are made from high-quality manganese nickel alloy steel that resists corrosion and wear. Nylon bumpers and a powder-coated side chain add protection from scratches, keeping your wheels and chains in good shape through many winters of use.

Quick to Mount, Easy to Store: Lightweight and Practical

You can drape these chains over the tire, click a few color-coded connections, and be ready to go in minutes. They come in a durable storage case with a kneeling mat, so you’re prepared to put them on even when the snow is coming down. When the season’s over, they pack up neatly and stay ready for next time.

Confirming Your Fit

If you know your tire size, you may think you won't need to test fit your new chains. But there are a lot of variables that can affect whether chains will fit your specific tires, including your tire type, the amount of air pressure in the tire, the amount of tread wear, and the tire manufacturer.

We recommend that you order chains as early in the season as possible to give yourself plenty of time to test fit the chains and reorder if needed. This way, you won't be stuck out in the cold later with snow chains that don't fit.

You can test fit these chains in your garage or driveway, but you'll want to wait until there's snow on the ground to actually drive with them. Likewise, if you're out in the snow and come across bare pavement, you'll want to pull over and remove the chains. These chains can cause damage to the bare pavement, your garage floor, or your vehicle if they break from the wear of riding on a harsh surface.

Just make connections and drive - chains will automatically align and tension. Lightweight chains are quick and easy to install. Provides consistent traction and a smooth ride when driving in snow and on light ice.

by:

These chains are excellent quality and super easy to install. I watched the video and hold them out of the package line them up. Click them together. The tensioner works great. I rolled the truck back-and-forth. They are on and tight. It is well worth the money to have something high-quality that will work more than once.

by:

I bought these for my 2022 Honda Odyssey for a trip to Colorado. We had to use them during a chain law enforcement through Wolf Creek Pass. They're easy to put on and take off and performance was spot on through snow pack and ice. Recommend getting familiar with them in clear conditions prior to use as its more difficult. I had no problems and would recommend for anyone, especially the novice.

by:

Well, I would say a little harder to put on correctly than advertised, but I called customer support and they helped me. Also watching all of the videos helped because each one was worded a little differently. Definitely would suggest one or two dry runs before you are in the elements. Important to realize to slide the plastic coated cable to the backside of the tire and center the chains after connecting the plastic coated cable and the small red hook. Once I figured this out I was able to almost perfectly center the chains (at least on one tire). On the other tire I couldn't get it perfectly centered (see photos). After about an 1/8 of a mile of very low speed driving it still didn't center but maybe with more driving at higher speeds it would. Also important to remember to have the yellow end of the chain on your right hand side beofore sliding behind the tire and making the first connection. One question I still have is how tight to pull the tension cable after you put it through the stop device. Every video seems a little bit different as to how tight you pull the cable by hand before connecting it to the tensioning device. As far as taking them off I tried four times to line up my car perfectly so I wouldn't have to drive over the chains after disconnecting them but this was not possible for me. So, with the plastic coated cable on top I just disconnected the connections in reverse and then put all the hooks and components off to the side and drove off/over the chains, which seemed to work fine. Will see how they work in the snow and ice but I'm hopeful they will do well.

by:

Very impressed! On a cement floor you can have the chains installed and snugged in under 10 minutes. Also an excellent increase in traction for a RWD van. Definitely recommend the konig XG-12's. Haven't installed while travelling but I don't think it will be very difficult.

by:

These are really easy to put on and take off. I have used them three times on my 2019 chevy colorado (4wd) to deal with high elevation mountain snow. After each use, I washed them, hung to dry and then put back in the truck. They are so awesome, I recommend them to others.

by:

I have a 2019 Honda CRV and have never owned tire chains before so I dont have anything to compare these to but they are easy to put on and take off and they conquer a steep icy unpaved drive way in The Catskills perfectly. There are some plastic parts that probably should be metal. One of them - the tension hook - broke on one of my chains (see photo) and when I reported this to etrailer.com with a photo to prove it, they sent another set. So I am pleased overall with the service from etrailer.com but am only giving 4 stars for the product on account of the breakage. Also they rusted after one season but that hasn't impacted performance.

by:

I love these chains, and etrailer is the best! As a 69 yr old retired grandma, I work part-time at a ski resort. A few weeks ago, we were expecting 8-10 inches of snow/ice and I was scheduled to work. So, I put these idiot-proof, color-coded, self-adjusting chains on my Highlander front low profile tires and waited for weather. See photo. I worked my full shift, came out to ice/snow in dark, and drove safely home. Oh, and the carrying case comes with a folded plastic sheet, but with my old knees I added a foam pad!

by:

I think this is the fourth pair of these chains I have purchased for various vehicles. I have had great success with these over the years. No chains are "easy" to put on but these make it about as easy as it can be. Once you are familiar with the process it takes only a few minutes per tire. The self-tensioning is the best feature. The storage box even has a hook and loop pad on the back so it won't slide around in your carpeted trunk or back seat. I got these for my '25 F150 Lariat. Our vacation home is at the end of a one-mile lane that is steep, snow covered all winter and usually icy in places from the sun. Snow tires and chains are a necessity for us.

by:

I was looking to have snow tire chains for my upcoming trip to northern Wisconsin. I found these to be very easy to install as the instructions were very clear. I like that they come with a case to make them easy to store in my Ford Escape.

by:

I needed chains for my FWD Volvo up in the Catskills, NY. I have a dirt driveway, the FWD Volvo from 2017 can’t handle an inch of snow/ice surprisingly for a Swedish car. I searched for high quality chains and ended up here. I asked Josh questions before purchasing, he was so helpful. The chains are magic, tricky to install the first time, but now I can install easily. They work so well. They store back in their plastic box easily to place in the trunk. Very pleased.

by:

Tunnel View at Yosemite. Chains worked perfectly, but not quite as easy to install as the video would suggest. I made the mistake of pulling over into 3-4 inches of snow to put them on. The snow packed around the base of the tire made it very difficult. That's not something you encounter when practicing in your nice warm garage. But once on, the chains stayed secure, and the car handled and braked with confidence.

by:

Very happy with how easy it is to install these. I really appreciated the installation videos showing the different tire sizes - we got the right size first try for both of my cars. These are the only chains I will order from now on. Highly recommend.

by:

I had called multiple places and searched Google trying to find chains for my tire size, but no one had results for the make, model, and year of my vehicle. Since I had purchased chains from etrailer years ago for my previous car, I decided to give them a call.

I spoke with Abbey, who was also confused as to why my tire size wasn’t showing any product matches. She placed me on a brief hold to consult with an expert, and it turned out they did have the right product. I purchased the chains and installed them for a fitting—and they worked perfectly!

Thank you, Abbey, for going the extra mile to find a solution and the right product for my needs. Great customer service!

Got me through the Snoqualmie pass near Seattle. Easy to put on. Easy to take off. Great!

Still excellent. No rust. Only had to use it one other time, though. After seeing other people try to put their chains on I realized how easy this product is to install. I was done in a fraction of the time.

@Michael Great to hear!

by:

Easy to install and remove. Provides excellent traction on sketchy roads.

by:

Product is pretty nice and easier to put on than regular diamond chains. I like the self-tightening feature and the case it comes in. These are much more expensive than conventional diamond chains.

by:

I bought this snow chain for my Toyota Sienna for this ski trip in Utah. I tested putting it on in my drive way. It takes about 2 minutes to install.

The Konig Tire Chains # TH01221102 (CB-12 102) and Konig Tire Chains # TH00023102 (CG-9 102) are virtually the same except that the # TH01221102 has assisted tensioning and the # TH00023102 is self tensioning. With the assisted tensioning you would have to kind of play around with the tensioning to get it perfect for your tires, whereas the self tensioning you can just pull on the chain and it will tighten and lock into place and the excess can just easily be clipped up. • What Snow Tire Chains do You Recommend for My 2019 Ford Fusion with 235/40-19 Tires?
Thanks so much for your kind words! The reason why manufacturers typically say that you should not use tire chains is to "wash their hands" of any liability just in case damage occurs to components inside the wheel well of your vehicle. This is extremely common. However, if you measure to make sure that you have enough wheel well clearance with your 235/40-19 tires on your 2019 Ford Fusion, this dramatically reduces the potential for damage to wheel well components. For a set of tire chains...

  • Correct Konig CG-9 Tire Size for 2022 Tesla Model 3 235/40-19
While Tesla would have a good idea on what tire chains would fit their vehicles Konig would have the most accurate fit info as all they do is fit tire chains to tire sizes. Unless Tesla came out and had a special reason for the 103 # TH00023103 (which is not something we've ever seen a manufacturer do) I would stick with what Konig recommends with the 102 size which I just confirmed as a fit for your tire size of 235/40-19 with the part # TH00023102.
