Note: The Derale Insta-dapt radiator adapter fits most vehicles with 5/16" transmission lines, but not all. In some cases, additional fittings or alteration of the OEM lines or hoses may be required for installation.
Perhaps the simplest type of heat exchanger, the tube-fin effectively cools a variety of automotive systems. The concept is simple: Fluid cools as it travels through the core by transferring heat out to the fins. The fins then provide the surface area necessary for sufficient heat exchange to take place, allowing the heat pulled from the fluid to dissipate into the surrounding air. Add to that the unique turbulator technology - whereby fluids are agitated continuously to not only facilitate heat transfer, but also to prevent any undesirable drop in pressure - and you have an easy and effective cooling system.

Today we're going to take a look at the Derale Series 7000 Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with AN Inlets. Now, your transmission cooler is going to cut down on any heat-related failures. If you're towing and maybe maxing out your vehicle to the most that it can take or towing in the summer, maybe you've got an older vehicle, anything like that, those are going to be those instances where we're at higher risk of those heat-related failures. So this is going to protect our vehicle from having to deal with that. It's going to extend the overall life of our transmission and prolongs the period between having to fill our fluid or to change it out. We'll have our tube running through. This is going to be made of a copper, so that's going to be really good at drawing the heat out of the fluid.
And then that is going to transfer into our aluminum fins, which might be hard to see, but we have all these very thin layers of aluminum. That's really good at dissipating the heat. We'll have a lot of surface area for that heat to escape and keep it out of our engine or our engine bay. By using those two materials together it's a really good system to keep everything cool. The turbulators in our system are also going to agitate that fluid to be even more effective at cooling our system down. It's going to come with our radiator adaptor or our ...
with our transmission cooler itself, the mounting brackets and hardware, our tube, this is our radiator adaptor, and four hose clamps. It should be just about everything we'll need to get it installed. It's recommended for full-size cars, trucks, and SUVs. As far as dimensions, overall, it's 17 1/2" wide from this end to the other, the outside of our inlet there. And then it's 10 1/4" tall and about 3/4 deep.
The transmission cooler itself, or the core of it, is 13 3/4". The distance between our inlets is 8 3/4". Each of our mounting brackets are about 4 7/8" long by about an inch, and the mounting holes are about an inch apart. So we'll have five mounting holes to work with. These are going to be very malleable so you can get them adjusted to just about any size or shape or offset that you need to get your transmission cooler mounted up. Have our fancy zip tie system to actually attach our transmission cooler to the bracket and then some self-tapping screws.
This is made in the USA. Overall, it's probably going to be a great idea to have this, especially on any of those summer camping trips, going on vacation, hauling everything to the max. You want to keep everything cool and keep your vehicle out on the road. That's going to do it for our look at the Derale Series 7000 Tube-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit with AN Inlets.
