Whereas belt-driven fans use up power from the engine to turn, electric fans do not, thus removing any unnecessary load and increasing both fuel economy and horsepower. In addition, you do not have to worry about an electric fan's slowing down at low RPM, as many belt-driven fans do, so you are guaranteed sufficient airflow regardless of the vehicle speed.

Before purchasing an electric fan, be sure to determine the CFM (cubic feet per minute) requirements for your engine. And remember, engines that have been modified or vehicles often used for towing may require additional CFM. There is no limit to the number of fans you can install, as long they all fit appropriately and are mounted on the same side of your radiator so that they do not cancel each other out.

Two types of turn-on sources are available for this fan. The Derale Lighted On/Off Switch for Electric Fans (D16740) allows for manual control of your fan so that you can choose when to turn it on and off. Thermostatic controls, on the other hand, send a signal to the fan, directing it to shut off when fluid temperatures reach an appropriate level, thus saving power. Once the temperature climbs again and additional cooling is needed, the fan is automatically turned back on. Thermostat switches can be single-stage with pre-set temperatures - D16735, D16738, D16739, D16720 and D16721 - or adjustable - D16778 and D16779.

I installed this fan yesterday. Very powerful and works great. Currently works off a selectable switch as I need it but will switch out with the thermonswitch I got soon.

I mounted this fan in the puller position on my auxiliary transmission cooler so that I can tow a 15ft travel trailer with my minivan. Installation was sweet. There was an instruction page in the box and enough parts for mounting. I was surprised at how much air this thing moves. I wouldn't call it noisy since the fan spins smoothly and quietly when I tested it out in the open, but when mounted in the congested grill area of my 2012 Dodge Grand Caravan I can definitely hear it hum more than the stock radiator fan. It pushes that much air. I would definitely recommend this product.

etrailer is always nice to deal with. Good service & good pricing. I received this order in a timely manner. My concern was noise / sound level. This fan moves a lot of air and is incredibly quiet. This is going to cool a generator enclosure box in my RV (air cooled generator) and the project is to replace a noisy standard generator with a new one, so noise reduction is key and this is the right fan for me. Don't hesitate to pick this one if quiet is a priority for you too.

This is the second fan I have bought from etrailer and there service and follow up has been excellent and so have the products they arrive in perfect shape and on time this is the best place to get a electric fan

by:

Tested fan after reversing blade, moves air well, also have to reverse wires when installing if pusher is what you want. Not a flimsy fan. Fast shipping.

prompt delivery of product, easy to attach to radiator, moves air well

  • Will a Derale Transmission Cooler Kit D13503 Work on a 2006 Nissan Titan Towing a 5th Wheel Trailer
The Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, item # D13503, will provide extra cooling to help keep your transmission at normal temperatures when towing. Whether or not any cooler will provide enough cooling depends on many factors specifically related to your vehicle and trailer setup. I did a bit of checking on the 2006 Nissan Titan towing capacities and found that the 2006 Titan is rated for somewhere between 9,200 lbs and 9,500 lbs Gross trailer weight, properly loaded...

  • 1956 Chevy Electric Radiator Fan Recommendations
In order to determine the correct fit fan for the front of the radiator on your 1956 Chevy you will need to measure the area in front of your radiator and determine how much room you have to work with. The Derale Radiator Fan # D18910 that you referenced has overall dimensions of 11-1/2 inches wide by 10-3/4 inches tall and 2-3/8 inches deep. If you find that you have room in front of your radiator for a fan with these dimensions then this fan should work for you. However, you should...

  • Transmission Cooler and Fan Recommendation for a 2010 Nissan Titan SE Towing Travel Trailer
A supplemental transmission cooler would absolutely help keep your transmission fluid temperatures down on your 2010 Nissan Titan. Since the heat issue you described is when you are backing your trailer up your best option would be a cooler with a fan since there would be limited air flow while in reverse at slow speeds. Another great thing about the coolers with fans is that you can basically mount them wherever you want since the fan provides all the airflow needed. For that I would...

  • Thermostat Fan Control # D16735 Recommendation for Use with a Derale Radiator Fan # D18910
Yes, we offer a thermostat system that will engage this Derale 10 inch Dyno-Cool Curved-Blade Electric Fan # D18910 that would be independent of the thermostat of your factory fan. You would want a Derale Premium, Single-Stage Thermostat Fan Control with Dual Probes # D16735. This system uses probes that will either screw into the water jackets of your engine, or a push-in radiator probe that will engage the fan when the coolant gets up 180 degrees and then shut the fan off when the coolant...
