The included power lead connects straight to your battery through the supplied fuse holder. That setup keeps trailer lights from overloading your vehicle’s wiring and helps prevent dimming or flickering signals. The converter uses surface-mount technology (SMT) for better heat control and consistent performance over time.
Once installed, this harness gives you a standard 4-way flat output for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights. It’s the connection most small and mid-size trailers use, so you’re ready to hook up and go.

I was impressed with what a relatively simple job putting on my hitch was for my ‘12 Tiguan. All parts in the kit were intact, and instructions were clear. How to get the wire up to the battery could’ve been clearer.
Worked well, some connections took some trouble shooting. Ended up being poor grounding.
Overall good, would buy again for next trailer project.

Trailer wiring harness was easy to install and was well made.
After it was finally installed, it is great, but very vague instructions on removing the taillights, (had to go online to find out how) and no info on removing the plastic trim panel fasteners without breaking them, (waiting for new ones to come from [online retailer])
Installation was a snap and it has been working well for me on my 2016 Tiguan! Have used it several times while towing a small utility trailer. I opted to pair this with an “OEM style” power wire/fuse holder purchased elsewhere… but that was just for cosmetic reasons, I’m sure the wire/fuse holder included in this kit would have worked well too.
Easy to install and the instructions were spot on! I have used numerous times and still love the ease of use! Plus I keep the connector in the car when not in use so it will last longer!

Amazing! I have used it in every weather condition the Midwest can throw at me and the connector still looks brand new. A superior product!
I’m moving across the country and realized 3 days before my move date that I forgot to order the wiring harness! I ordered it immediately and paid for 2 day shipping. It arrived right on time, no delay at all. I installed it immediately! Everything in the trunk was relatively easy, but routing the power wire to the battery wasn’t fun at all since I don’t have a lift or jacks! However I made it happen and all is well. My towing lights work great and I couldn’t be happier with etrailer’s products! I have their hitch and wiring now. One VW Fanatic extremely happy!
