This T-Connector uses a powered converter that draws power directly from the vehicle’s battery instead of its lighting circuits. That setup keeps the trailer wiring completely isolated from the vehicle’s electrical system, helping protect sensitive electronics from shorts or overloads. It also provides a steady power source for the trailer lights, whether they’re standard bulbs or LEDs.

A good product! This is the second hitch I have installed using etrailer and it went as well as the first. Not being a super skilled Tech it took longer than expected, but for me it was a project that needed to be done, and I enjoy a good project when it comes together, no matter if it took a little longer due to an average person's tool inventory and simple jack stands and floor jacks. The instruction videos are the best I have seen as of yet. If you enjoy working with your hands, I recommend etrailer products!
I bought a 2017 Altima and wanted to be able to tow a small trailer. Reading a bit about new cars and the low power needed for the LED lights used on the vehicle, I chose not to tap into the wiring harness as the only means of supplying power to the trailer. The C56339 Curt wiring harness has the same style molex connectors as the vehicle and made the splice as simple as unplug-plug-n-play. There was ample wire supplied to make the connection at the battery. The plastic rocker panels on my vehicle were used to route the wire from rear to front. Weatherproof fuse holder gave another level of comfort with this product. The instructions provided a clear means of avoiding any confusion about the wiring and were vehicle specific about how to locate the connectors. Not a hiccup in the year that this has been on my vehicle.
the hitch itself was easy to install. the wiring not so much. needed a better video on how to install the wiring. also it wasn't long enough and we had to purchase more from a local auto parts store.
however, all in all i would definitely recommend the hitch!

The most common reason why a taillight converter would fail is a short circuit in the trailer's taillight wiring. Before replacing the converter, you'll want to closely examine the taillight circuits on the trailer to locate and repair the short. Look for pinched wires or wires with missing insulation that would allow the copper wire to short out to the trailer frame.
