Features to know about

Installs Without Cutting or Splicing: Plug-In T-Connector

Wiring up trailer lights doesn’t have to mean cutting into your factory wiring. The Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector plugs directly into the vehicle’s existing light connectors. This hidden, plug-and-lead setup keeps your factory wiring intact and gets you a working 4-flat trailer connection that’s ready for running lights, turn signals, and brake lights.

Protects Vehicle Electronics: Powered Converter Box

Many modern vehicles use lightweight wiring that can’t handle the extra load from trailer lights. This harness includes a powered converter that draws power directly from the battery instead of the vehicle’s lighting circuits. That setup protects the car’s internal wiring while giving the trailer the full power it needs for proper lighting. The inline fuse safeguards the module—if it ever blows, it only cuts power to the trailer side, never to your vehicle lights.

Simple Power Routing: Clean Run to the Battery

The included power wire runs neatly from the rear of the vehicle up to the battery, giving a direct power source for the converter. You can route it through the interior or underneath using existing grommets, keeping clear of heat and moving parts. It’s a straightforward job that keeps the install tidy and reliable over time.

Ready for Future Upgrades: Standard 4-Flat Connection

Out of the box, this harness gives you a standard 4-pole flat connector for trailer lighting circuits. If you ever need to tow something with electric brakes or charge a trailer battery, it can easily be expanded using an adapter kit like an ETBC7 to add a 7-way connection. The Curt harness gives you a solid foundation for any towing setup down the road.

Completely as advertised.

by:

Exact fit and works perfectly

by:

Works great but definitely not any easy install. Having to run a power wire off the battery and snake it through the firewall and to the back is not for the average car owner.

by:

Your wiring harness works perfectly! I’m very satisfied!

by:

Works as expected, Never gave the wireing much thought since I installed it. I only use my trailer on occasion.

Quite well actually, but I traded in my Honda aweek or so ago.

Installed this on a 2017 Honda Accord Sport (dual exhausts). This is probably the 5th or 6th hitch that I've installed on various vehicles and overall very simple. Hardest part was trimming the heat shields; to do this you'll need a pair of tin snips or a Dremel. It took me about 4 tries to get it "just right". With only three bolts and four nuts total you'd really have to try hard to screw this one up.

For 2016 Accord. Perfect engineering and install directions. Have recommended etrailer to many friends. Lighting kit as well

Installed on a 2017 Honda Accord Sport. Easy installation up until the power tap was required. I opted to chase the 12 gauge wire (included in the kit) along a factory wire harness through the drivers side door jambs and hook into an existing hot-on-ignition-off circuit using a customized add-a-circuit fused tap. Took me a good hour or so to get the wire run but it is completely invisible.

Note to Accord drivers; there are a number of factory-installed body "plugs" or grommets in the floor of the trunk underneath the carpet. I cut the core out of one of these plugs, cut the 4-wire plug off, ran the cut end through the grommet and out to the hitch, then crimped the 4-wire assembly back together. A little duct sealant to prevent air leakage and you have a seamless, no-cut no-drill installation!

We ordered a trailer hitch for our 2016 Accord. That went on just fine, exactly as it should. When we ordered the hitch we clicked through on the recommended wiring. However that turned out to be for the coupe not the sedan. They have different plugs. So we sent that back. We then ordered the wiring for the sedan. Two are listed. One for Accords with LED taillights, the other for Accords without LED taillights. Well, all 2016 Accords have LED taillights. Some also have LED brakelights. How do I know this? I call our local Honda dealer. They don't know. They call the service department. They don't know. I finally downloaded the Accord 2016 manual - a more detailed version than comes with the car and that gives the needed information.

Anyways ... we got this installed and it works fine. It would be difficult as a DIY installation since you have to run the 12 V line from the front of the car, underneath and into the trunk. The knuckleheads that installed it for us drilled through a drain hole in the trunk despite there being an existing grommet 18 inches away that they could have used. I'd suggest that if you have this wiring installed on your car you review the video for the 2015 Accord wiring installation and based on that tell your mechanics exactly what you want.

by:

Easy install except for the hot wire to the battery. Luckily I found a [online] video where a guy was running a wire for an amplifier from the trunk to the battery. It would have been great if etrailer.com would have made one as they produce excellent installation videos. Unfortunately, the controller malfunctioned after very little use (hence the reduction of one star). I’d call it an infancy failure. However, etrailer.com’s excellent customer service helped me troubleshoot and determine it was a bad controller and worked with me to get a replacement (covered under warranty). Overall, very satisfied with this experience.

  • Trailer Wiring Harness for 2017 Honda Accord Towing Trailer With Brakes
Hey John! I see you already got the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # C56299. This will provide you with a 4-way to power your trailer's lights. When you said brake control do you mean you're towing a trailer with electric brakes? If so, you will also need the # ETBC7 which will upgrade it to a 7-way connector. A brake controller like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty # RED52VR will also be required to power the trailer brakes.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver and Towing Components for 2017 Honda Accord Sedan
The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I # C11681 is a confirmed fit for your 2017 Honda Accord Sedan and at this time there is not a Class II hitch available. If you will be towing with this hitch, I recommend the ball mount # C45521 and hitch ball # A-80 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or # A-82 for a 2 inch diameter hitch ball. You will also need a pin and clip like # F-4 to secure your ball mount. For trailer wiring, I recommend the Curt T-Connector # C56299 which will connect...

  • Why is Powered 4-Pole Trailer Wiring Harness Necessary on 2016 Honda Accord with LED Lights
Some vehicles need a powered trailer wiring harness with a separate power wire (rather than the passive type that just plug-in) in order to protect the car's wiring. In the case of the 2016 Honda Accord sedan this is the type of harness required, either Curt # C56299 if you have the hybrid model or the # C56173 if you have the hybrid model. I linked an article with tips for routing that power wire. The reason a powered harness is required is that the vehicle's internal wiring is of too...

  • Maximum Towing Capacity and Parts Needed to Tow a Waverunner with a 2017 Honda Accord
The maximum towing capacity of your 2017 Honda Accord is 1,000 lbs. The towing capacity of the hitch will not change the vehicle's towing capacity as the lower of the two ratings (vehicle/hitch) will always be the limiting factor. For your Accord, I recommend using the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C11496 which is a Class I hitch with a 1-1/4" receiver tube opening. In order to complete your towing setup you will also need a wiring harness and ball mount/hitch ball. For a wiring...

  • Recommendations For Carrying 4 Bikes With 2017 Honda Accord With Class l Trailer Hitch
The trailer hitches we offer for a 2017 Accord are Class l trailer hitches only carry two bikes. I recommend a couple ways to approach the problem with carrying 4 bicycles. You can use a hitch adapter like part # HTAD and carry two bikes in the carrier. using any adapters in the hitch will reduce the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. You can then get a roof rack and bike carriers for the roof of your Accord. If you have no side rails or crossbars on the roof I recommend the Rhino-Rack...

  • How Should Wire of Powered Trailer Wiring Harness Run to Vehicle Battery
When you install the trailer wiring for the 2016 Honda Accord you need to route the power wire from the rear of the vehicle up to the vehicle battery. There are two ways to do this. One way is to run it through the interior and then run it through a hole in the firewall to get the wire into the engine bay. Or you can run it out a grommet in the floor of the trunk and then route it underneath the vehicle up to the battery that way. Be sure to keep it away from hot exhaust pipes or moving...

  • Troubleshooting Brake Lights of Trailer Wiring that Stopped Working
Yes, it is possible that the converter box of your trailer wiring has an internal issue that is causing your problem. What you will want to do is test the wires going into the box of the converter box for voltage with a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to see if there is voltage going into the box when the taillight functions of your vehicle are applied, and then test the output side of the box to see if the current is making it through the converter. If not then the problem is that the...

For your 2017 Honda Accord you can use Curt hitch # C11681 with the recommended ball mount # C45521. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19257 and for a 2 inch use # 19258. Then for a pin and clip use # F-4. And for trailer wiring you can use # C56173 if you have the hybrid or # C56299 if you do not have the hybrid to add a 4-Way flat connector to the rear of the vehicle.

  • Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Lights Not Working with One Vehicle But Work with Another
Most likely the trailer has a weak ground and if you improve the grounding of the main trailer wiring harness and the grounds of each of the assemblies you'll see them start to work like normal. The brake lights draw the most amperage of all of the circuits so if there's a weak ground and the tow vehicle doesn't have a lot of amperage the circuit may not work. I also attached a help article on trailer wiring for you to check out as well.

  • Do Trailer Hitches for 2016 Honda Accord Sedan Require Trimming of Lower Fascia
For your 2016 Honda Accord there are only trailer hitches available like the Curt hitch part # C11681 which do require trimming or modifying the lower fascia. I attached an install video for more info for you to check out as well. For trailer wiring you would then want the part # C56299 which is also a confirmed fit. For a 2 inch ball ball-mount you would want the part # C45572 or for 1-7/8 inches you would want the part # C45571.

To transport your Italian Ice cart on your 2016 Honda Accord you would need a hitch that has enough weight capacity for the combined weight of the 350-lb loaded cart plus the weight of the hitch carrier you load it on. Unfortunately, the only hitches available for your 2016 Honda Accord are the light-duty Class I type, like Curt Hitch item # C11681, which have a maximum weight capacity of only 200-lbs. If the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # C56299 has a blown fuse on the power line, it will not allow the trailer lights to function as it is protecting the module, but it will not impact your vehicle tail lights if that fuse were to blow because it is on a different power supply and fuse from the manufacturer wiring.
