Installation
This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's wiring harness, which is located behind the driver's-side and passenger's-side tail lights. You will have to remove all trunk floor coverings, storage trays, and the scuff panel to access these connection points. Once you've plugged in the T-connector, run the hot lead to your car battery. Connect the lead to the included fuse holder, and then connect the fuse holder to the positive terminal on your battery.
Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within your trunk.
It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.
A tail light converter is built into this T-connector. This converter is a circuit-protected, battery-powered unit that bypasses the electrical routes that are used by a basic wiring harness. As a result, there is virtually no draw on your tail light circuits.
Curt builds each tail light converter using surface-mount technology (SMT). This method of construction involves soldering electronic components directly to the surface of a printed circuit board. SMT eliminates the need for leads, which are used in older through-hole technology. The result is a circuit board that is smaller yet provides more routing area and that offers superior performance, reliability and durability.
Circuit boards constructed using SMT have been shown to perform better under rough conditions with excessive vibration than those made using the through-hole method. And where would vibration be more likely to occur than in towing applications? Curt converters also produce less heat, leading to increased durability and longer life. In addition, lower levels of resistance ensure better performance, especially for parts that operate at higher frequencies.
Each Curt circuit board is made using high-quality components that are pieced together in the most technologically savvy fashion, leading to greater predictability and reliability in functioning.

I had never installed a powered trailer light module before, but liked the idea of not over-taxing my tail light circuits with the trailer lights. This Curt product is very well engineered and includes everything needed. The instructions for the rear harness mounting and connections were excellent. The only exceptions was they instructed that you disconnect the vehicle battery, then open the rear hatch :) TIP: Open the hatch first! The installation took a couple of hours. I utilized an unused power seat circuit in my rear fuse panel for power which saved me from having to run the provided power line up to the underhood battery. The instructions didn't suggest any particular route for this feed line and I didn't see any easy protected path to take without removing a lot of interior trim or a few underbody closeout panels. If your Focus ST doesn't have the power seat option my method works great. Nice harness, works perfectly. Curt does a great job engineering trailering products to specific fitments. I'm surprised they took the time to accommodate the Focus ST and am grateful. Thanks E-trailer for the great website, price, and fast shipping!
Works well, clear instructions. Etrailer youtube video for my car was very helpful.
The hitch wiring went in great. I put in a thicker spacer 3/8 inch between the frame and the hitch which gave a better clearance from the plastic bumper cover and the receiver it went very well. The electrical wiring went well with the directions given. I have a focus ST and a pull a trailer with a zero turn 60 inch Ferris mower and it works very well.
The hitch is fairly straight forward and easy to install. The instructions are OK - not great - just OK, BUT... The etrailer videos for the hitch and wiring harness were BRILLIANT. My only criticism is that I found them by accident - I didn't realize they were out there. That being said, it took me less than 30 seconds to find them. They were much better than the printed instructions. I had a tablet out set next to me and it literally walked me through the painless process. Thanks! So, all in all, this was a very affordable and easy process thanks to etrailer.
Great harness. Clipped into my existing vehicle harness with no issues, trailer lights work great

Still works perfectly
After having 2 kits sent by the largest supplier AM.... that were packeged with the wrong kits but marked ford focus hatchback, i contacted Curt and they suggested another supplier. Your profesionalism and tracking is second to none. Finally got the right one. I will be using you in the future
Not a product review, I'll need some time to make that determination. As far as service goes, it seems like these guys are doing it right considering the niche they are in.
The online search/selection and order process was easy and efficient. I received an order confirmation immediately, and a shipping confirmation on the same day. The package arrived when they said it would. I also received a personalized delivery confirmation email which is always appreciated.
As of this writing I have not yet installed the tow bar and wiring kit for my 2015 Ford Focus ST, but my experience up to this point has been excellent.
I installed the trailer hitch wiring in about 3 hours. It was very easy to do after watching the great video provided with this product. No problems...everything worked like a charm.
Great all in one wiring harness. Took longer to install than the hitch. Could just be thrown into the spare tire well, but for a clean tidy install it takes a bit more time and effort. Take off your interior panels and do it right, you'll be much happier.
Great product that works well, it’s just a pain to install. See my review of the Ford Focus RS Curt hitch as well. Definitely remove your lights even though it doesn’t say to.
Everything I ordered came in with no issues. Wiring kit, receiver hitch and 2 balls. Quick shipping and no problems. Thank you!
The product was at my door in less than a week fit perfectly worked just as described very happy with their service thanks a lot etrailer
easy to install
Good instructions, worked the first time

Both the hitch and the wiring harness are fine. I had trouble connecting the wiring harness because I did not pay close enough attention to the pictures in the instructions.
etrailer makes me fell like they care and then prove it by their actions. One awesome company.
Installed perfectly. Did not run the positive wire under the car, instead I ran under trim along driver side of the interior and through a plug on the firewall about pedals. I do not like the idea of that wire underneath a new car.
Great product worked as it should. Came on time as promised ! Communication was great tracking the shipment
Will do buisness again
Great company. Arrived on time. Very easy detailed instructions. Will buy from them again
Good product, used etrailer several times, always good.
Product arrived within 2 days wow, The package was exactly as described and had video clips showing how to install. Great company, excellent service.
Thanks
Works great on my Ford Focus ST. It's not trivial to run the wire up to the battery, if you don't have a lift, but it can be done with a little time.
got it and haven't instaled it yet
Easy to install. Excellent value. Highly recommend!!
great product and fast service

Hey Wade! Thanks for sharing. It is always best and safest to rout a power wire up to the battery. Sometimes it hard to know if open and unused circuits will be able to handle what a trailer is needing when hooked up.
