Features to know about

Stay Level and Confident Under Load: 1,500-lb Rear Suspension Support

Heavy trailers or bed loads can make the rear of your vehicle sag, throwing off your handling and braking. These SumoSprings helper springs add up to 1,500 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level and controlled. They help your factory suspension carry the extra weight so your steering stays steady and your headlights stay aimed where they should.

Smooth Ride on Any Road: Progressive-Rate Urethane Springs

You don’t need to give up comfort to get support. The microcellular urethane springs compress easily at first for a soft, cushioned feel on lighter loads, then stiffen progressively as weight increases. That smooth, progressive action helps absorb bumps and shocks so the ride stays comfortable whether you’re carrying a few tools or hauling a full load.

Comparison image showing SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs installed on a vehicle’s rear axle, with one spring uncompressed and the other compressed under load to demonstrate load support and suspension leveling.

Stay Steady in Crosswinds and Turns: Independent Spring Action

When a curve or passing semi tries to push you around, each spring works independently to keep both sides planted. This reduces body roll and sway so your vehicle feels stable through turns or uneven ground. Even off-center loads won’t throw off your balance—the springs help even things out automatically.

Built Tough for Real-World Conditions: Maintenance-Free Design

These durable microcellular urethane springs hold up in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F and resist oil, road salt, and UV damage. They compress vertically with minimal side expansion, fitting safely in tight spaces without interference. There’s no air pressure to monitor or tubing to run—just install them with the simple no-drill setup and hit the road knowing they’ll keep working trip after trip.

Ram 3500
Purchased and installed rear anti-sway bar RM52GR and sumo helper springs SSR-313-47 for my 24 3500 Promaster RV. Best upgrade yet! Drives and handles so good I forget It's an RV. No sway on turns or highway ramps and no Heavy hits from rough roads. Should have been a factory option.

Dodge Ram Pickup
Sumo Black part no. SSR-313-47, 1500lb @50% compression. Installed on Ram ProMaster 3500 RV conversion van. Approximately 85% of the swaying has been eliminated but still retained the soft to firm ride.
by:
Our brand new 2021 Promaster 2500 high roof 159 felt a bit tippy and drove sloppy when we had it at highway speeds in significant wind, or when on significantly off-camber roads. It just wasn't comfortable to drive or ride in, so we asked around and everyone's answer to the problem was SumoSprings. Bought from etrailer at a great price, had them installed by a pro. Now we're telling everyone the same thing – these springs make the van ride like super stable SUV and driving the van is a pleasure instead of work. Couldn't be happier.

Ram ProMaster 2500
I installed the Sumo Springs , front and back, on my 2022 Promaster van before I started my camper conversion. Sumo springs are alimony a must on a build to reduce sway and assist with the constant load in the back of the van. I purchased them from etrailer because of their outstanding customer service

Installed on 2500 Dodge Promaster van after taking out one leaf. I drove in heavy cross winds and bumpy construction areas and it worked great. In my case they are just making contact when the van is average loaded.

This only pertains to the order, shipping speed, and install as I have not put a heavy load on these sumo Springs yet but I feel like that's a foregone conclusion based off the reviews already. The ordering process, the shipping, and the installation was unbelievably easy. I kept rereading the instructions thinking this can't be right because it was so simple. I looked at the YouTube video and realized it is that simple! So happy with the ordering process, the quality of the initial product I opened, and how simple it was to put on the jeep.

That is the beauty of SumoSprings! Super easy to install and once they're on you can forget they're there! Are you planning on towing something with your Jeep that you want extra support for?

@ClaireH yes Ms Claire. I plan to put a truck camper on the Jeep (that weighs in the 500-1000 lbs range). My payload is 1700 lbs so I know a camper of the weight will be significant my truck. Already ordered a stiffer rear anti-sway bar as well.

@Justin That sounds like a good plan! These SumoSprings plus the sway bar should be more than enough to handle the weight of your truck bed camper.

2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I put these on a 2013 Jeep JK (not lifted) that tows a 3000 lb trailer in rough terrain; Total game changer.

These replaced the anemic factory stops (which had completely disintegrated) and make it impossible to 'bottom out' on the dips and holes that use to beat up the suspension. I got nearly all of my vertical travel back and the vehicle now sits almost level under high tongue load.

They go on pretty easy. I suggest sliding in one side, and then using a wooden dowel and hammer to pop the other side in the stock receiver cup.

Highly recommended. These are a MUST if you are towing a trailer (with a medium sized SUV) of any significant weight or if you just want to be able to bounce hard without bottoming out your suspension. I am likely going to get the front suspension version now as well.
Wish I knew these existed sooner.

2025 Promaster 2500 159” wheelbase. Backed the van on couple 2” X 6 “ easier sliding under. Sprayed PB Blaster on top of bumper spring, using a 16” Channel Lock, easy off with the old. At that time I jacked the rear end to allow clearance. One side at a time. Took longer for set up then the job. I used the long bolt with two spacers. Have not drove yet, though looking for great results.

Glad to hear the install wasn't too bad, Michael! Definitely let us know how the ride is once you take it out for a drive! What are you using your Van for? The tires look pretty beefy.

Love them! The truck barely even squatted, had two dirt bikes, and a generator in the bed as well! It handles the bumps and sway great

Product is great, exceeded my expectations. Install is simple and straightforward. It’s a night and day difference in both the body roll and the handling small bumps all the way up to off-road conditions.

2000 Nissan Leaf
Great product! Bought these for my 2000 7.3 f250. Didn't want something that is constantly active like ras or hellwig since my leaf springs are new and rated for 4k pounds. Installed these in 1 hr super simple only hard part was the factory bump stop on driver side was a pain. Didn't install the puck they give due to height of truck and I knew more or less at what point I wanted them engaging. I haul cattle to shows/ auctions or between pastures with my 24ft big bend and these things actually provided a smoother ride in my truck loaded then unloaded.they do a great job with the added support and are better than an overload spring with handling sway and providing a smooth ride loaded. Just wish I could use the 3k pound rated ones on this truck and my dually but doesn't fit if you have a gooseneck sadly so will probably have to go with timbs on the drw. Over all great product can't speak to longevity but solid for the time being. And customer service with this company is excellent if you have a question or problem they're on top of it...hope they pay them as well as the reputation they're building for them.

I put a set of 47s on my Silverado 1500 and towed my dump trailer that weighed 6000 pounds the way I had it loaded for 50 miles on all kinds of roads and it worked well. I didn’t use the spacers and the truck still rides like it did before the install.

Glad the Sumos are helping make your loads easier to tow!

by:
Jeep Gladiator Mojave - swapped out the rear stock bump stops with these. High quality parts. Just jack up the truck enough to give you room to work with and put in your jack stands, no need to remove the wheels. I look forward to seeing how they do with towing! Hopefully I can update my review here afterwards. Check out the gap difference in the pictures. Should touch sooner during normal drive conditions and hopefully help reduce some trailer squat and help towing to be smoother.

Opted for the Blue 1000lb Sumo's w/spacer over the 1500lb Black ones. 1500 Silverado Max Tow & reduces squatting by 2" on a 1000lb+ tongue weight. Ride is still good, but you can feel the Sumo's engage over large dips or bumps which is not an issue for me.

  • Reducing Stiffness of SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-313-54 on 2022 Coachmen Nova 20C
First you will want to check your 2,800lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-313-54 to determine if 2nd 1" spacer was installed with the springs. If you have both the 1" spacers you will want to remove the 1" spacer which doesn't have the pressed in nut. This will help to reduce how much the spring compresses under a normal load. As the spring is progressive it will reduce how stiff the spring is and help to smooth your ride. If you are still finding the ride is to harsh you...

There are a few different SumoSprings for the rear of your 2022 Coachmen Nova 20C. If you have the lightest 1,000LB # SSR-313-40 springs on your Nova these are not going to provide enough support for all the additional weight added to you camper. A better option would be the 1,500LB # SSR-313-47 or 2,800LB # SSR-313-54 depending on how much cargo you are carrying or towing. Please let me know what you have and the types of loads you are carrying and I can help you determine if there is...

  • Recommended Sway Bar and SumoSprings for a 2024 Winnebago Travato
Congrats on the new RV! Your 2024 Winnebago Travato was built on a Ram Promaster 3500 chassis so the correct awesome sway bar for it will be the Roadmaster item # RM52GR. This rear anti-sway bar is 1-1/4". We do not have a front one and Roadmaster doesn't list one either. As far as SumoSprings go we only have ones for the rear as well. I recommend the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs item # SSR-313-47. These have a 1,500 lbs capacity and will do a great job of supporting your rear...

  • How To Prevent Side to Side Sway When Trucks Pass On a 2019 Winnebago Travato 59K
I do have an option for you but a steering stabilizer would not really be much help for the side to side rocking while being passed by larger vehicles. The most beneficial option we have to help reduce this would be to add/upgrade the rear sway bar, the Roadmaster Rear Anti-Sway Bar part # RM-1129-143. Generally speaking, an upgraded rear anti-sway bar is one of the most beneficial upgrades you can make to a motorhome as this is typically the area most are lacking from the factory. If...

The SuperSprings Custom Suspension Stabilizer and Sway Control Kit part # SSA11 is an excellent option for a 2016 Pleasure Way Lexor TS on a Ram ProMaster 3500 Chassis. It will do a great job of helping to prevent rear end sag thereby increasing ground clearance. Unlike the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs part # SSR-313-47, they will engage right away so this should then do a much better job of making sure you have as much ground clearance as possible.
