Video Transcript for Feature Breakdown: Mechanic Tool Set

Ellen: Hey, everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com and we're taking a quick look at the Performance Tool's Mechanics Set. This is a 155 piece set, and it should be a great addition to your home or garage to make sure that you have all the tools you need. It comes in a nice carrying case, hard cover outside. Looks like this is a fairly nice case of some of the ones that you see out there. The hinge is a couple of pieces of plastic with a pin going through it.

Not sure if it's plastic or metal for that pin, hard to say, but at least it does have that hinging point so it should last longer than some other ones that are just a little plastic flap.As far as what comes in the kit, I'm not going to go over every single piece, just because you can read all that on our website here at etrailer.com, has everything listed out. We do get a three-eighths inch drive ratchet. Just let you hear the sound there to give you an idea of the teeth inside. And we also get a quarter inch. Those both seem like they will be all right for use.

I would say probably not for every day, use more kind of occasional or for a project. But if you're going to be using it day in and day out, you might want to go with something that's a little higher end, but this is kind of that mid-tier as far as the level of quality there. You also get some hex keys, get metric and SAE, and that's the same for all of our sockets as well. Get deep well and short, or regular. Also have some bit drivers to help you tighten down all kinds of stuff. Pretty nice, complete kit here.

Get a quarter-inch driver. It's just a little hand guy there, so that will work with all of these bits. We've got our coupler, get that out of place. These are a little bit tight as far as getting them out of the case but not too bad. You just put that little coupler on there and then use any of these attachments to tighten up whatever you need.It gives you some options as far as how you attach stuff, to make sure that you always have the right tool for the job.

I'm just going to kind of try to take things out to just see how easy it is to get some of this stuff out. All of these are just resting in there, so they shouldn't be too hard. As you saw at the beginning, I was kind of putting these back in place. In just a second, I'm going to shake this up just to see how much travel we get out of this stuff. If you leave this piece of foam in place, it usually does a pretty good job of helping this stuff to stay put. But we're going to see how well it does, even if we don't. Got a couple of extensions there, so pretty nice kit overall as far as everything you get. Now, the shake test. Everybody's favorite part. I can already hear that some stuff has fallen.Let's see. Oh, not too bad. I mean, things moved definitely, but pretty much can just flip them back in place, so not too bad. Some of these sockets did come undone. I think it's just because they're so small that there is a lot more room for them to move. They are labeled pretty well. The indention in the metal is pretty easy to see, makes it fairly easy to see what you've got.But that's pretty much all there is to it for this kit. Just want to give you an idea of how well it's going to work over time to make sure that this is the right fit for you. We do have some other options available here at etrailer.com. Some kits that have more parts, some that have less. Just kind of depends on the job that you're going to be doing or what projects you expect to have in the future. But I hope this has been helpful in deciding if this is the right one for you. That's always our goal here at etrailer.com is to make sure you get the right part the first time. I'm Ellen with etrailer.com. Thanks for watching.
