Features to know about

Keep Your Truck Level Under Load: 3,000-lb Rear Suspension Support

When you hitch up or load down the bed, these helper springs add up to 3,000 lbs of support at 50-percent compression to keep your ride level. They absorb bumps and shocks so your steering and braking stay confident even with a heavy trailer or bed load. With a level stance, your truck feels balanced and your headlights stay aimed where they should.

SumoSprings Rebel helper springs compressing under load to support rear suspension and reduce sag during towing or heavy hauling.

Ride Smooth on Any Road: 2-Piece Progressive Spring Design

The two-piece Rebel setup connects at the top and bottom to provide unlimited suspension travel. When unloaded, the halves separate for full suspension movement and a smoother ride. As weight increases, the microcellular urethane springs compress progressively—soft at first for comfort with lighter cargo, firming up to as much as 80 percent compression to handle heavier loads without bottoming out.

SumoSprings Rebel two-piece helper springs installed on rear axle showing separation between top and bottom sections for full suspension travel.

Stay Stable Through Curves and Off-Center Loads: Independent Spring Action

Each spring works on its own side of the vehicle to help control sway and body roll. That independence helps compensate for uneven cargo or off-center trailer weight so you feel steady when cornering or hitting uneven pavement. The result is a more planted ride that keeps the truck from leaning or bouncing when the load shifts.

Install It Once and Forget It: Maintenance-Free Urethane Construction

These closed-cell urethane springs don’t need air lines, tubing, or pressure checks. They expand and compress vertically with minimal side movement, resist oils, salts, and UV rays, and perform in temperatures from -25 F to 200 F. The custom brackets bolt on easily with included hardware, giving you a simple setup that just works every time you haul or tow.

Install was easy and loaded ride is improved.

Unloaded
ride is terrible. It's so stiff that I'll likely remove and purchase a different product. I called Sumo Spring twice and was not able to reach anyone. I also left a message (2 days ago) and no one returned the call. I was calling for advice or return. The 30 day money back guarantee is useless when you can't reach the manufacturer.

The sumo shocks arrived faster than was told. Fantastic products and great customer service! Nicole who took my order was great! Thanks again Nicole you are exceptional in the customer service dept. at Etrailer. Second time ordering from them out standing company and great employees, You Rock!!!!!

by:

Just put these on our 2014 F350. We have a 40’ fifth wheel and on a 400 mile trip. So far so good!

by:

Install was easy. Took about 2 hours start thru cleanup.

by:

Very easy install and product worked great. Helped most with leveling my truck while loaded with my camper. Body roll was still there but these definitely reduced it. Would definitely recommend this product.

by:

nice improvement when 5th wheel is hooked up. maybe half inch ride height improvement. bumps and potholes are dampened nicely, not eliminated but not harsh and smoothed as should be.

by:

Adding a pair of SumoSprings to the rear axle of our 2015 F250 did little to help level the vehicle when hauling 500 to a 1000 lbs of feed or other materials. When pulling a bumper pull tandam trailer with a UTV, tractor, etc.,these springs did not hold the pickup level. We have since replace the leaf springs with OEM parts and all is better. The SumoSprings is a very good idea however did not solve our concern and probably should have saved the cost and replace the leaf springs first. Please note that this F250 does not have a goose neck hitch and it is rare to be overloaded. We use a one ton for those loads. Thanks.

by:

The installation went very well. The ride seemed smooth.

by:

I haven't had the springs under load, yet. I'm sure they'll perform as expected. I was not able to adjust the driver's side springs so that they align correctly. (see pic). The bottom spring does go into the top spring, but it's off enough that over time it will be an issue. Passenger side is spot-on! I have a 2024 F350 Tremor

by:

With the new Sumo Springs my Sprinter is an amazing highway cruiser. Drives like a dream! It's a little rough on potholes, but overall a great purchase.

by:

Ride is great unloaded. They don’t touch until you load the truck with a little weight. On a light trailer 16ft or 20ft car hauler they just touch. The ride may be a little stiffer in the rear since there isn’t much weight to keep them down or the bounce down. But it’s not bad at all. Hauling a heavy load where they get compressed the load is much more stable and the truck hauls the heavy loads MUCH better. Cheaper than air ride. No lines to run. No worry to inflate or deflate. I give them 10/10. Very nice product. If you run light loads more than heavy I would go with the blue or yellow versions. I have the 5k sumos on a 2018 Ram 3500 4x4

100% satisfied.

by:

took about 2 1/2 hours to put them on. Love them!! Trailer sits level and truck still has it's proper angle to the road!

by:

I wish I would have put on an air ride system instead. When I put my light (1750lb.)truck camper on my F250 truck, the back of the truck saggs. Not happy! I am sure the product is okay, just not what I wanted.

by:

It’s a fantastic product and shipping was right on time. Thank you so much etrailer.

by:

Just Installed my Sumo Rear Springs. They went in real easy on my Dodge Ram 3500. The thing that took the most time on the install was jacking up the frame 3-4" to make enough space between the axle base and top of frame to slip in the entire lower and top sections of the Sumo Springs. Once I did that, I narrowed that space by letting the frame down a little but not all the way. Just enough to catch the receiving spring and leaving a half inch gap between the two sections. This allowed me to easily rachet the bottom u-clap without a problem and keep good alighment. I know I'm going to love this product once I hitch up. No more 2' drop in the rear end once hooking up to my 15k 5th wheel. These springs are stout but no so stout I'll beat the hell out of my body when hunting the rutted roads of the great North West. Thank you Jessie for your expertise and steering me toward the perfect application to meet my pulling and off-road needs.

by:

I put a small leveling kit in my 2500hd Silverado. I noticed afterwards towing my excavator or dump trailer I was getting some rear sag when I had my trailers loaded heavy. I considered doing air bags for the rear. Instead I installed the sumo springs. I installed them in about an hour. Very happy with them. No noticeable difference in ride quality while empty. And they keep my truck level when I’m hauling my trailers. 5 stars!

by:

Product works very well. Only problem we had was an alignment problem on the drivers side spring. Couldn't get it completely centered top to bottom, but was close enough to still fit together.

by:

I installed on 24 Silverado 2500hd. Install went great. They work well when towing. I haul a 32’ bumper pull camper. They help reduce the sag dramatically. When not hauling, the truck rides rougher than without them installed. That makes sense and I am happy with them. I may have went with a bit less stiffness now that I know.

by:

Sumo rebel Springs are in contact with each other when unloaded. The factory overloads are still 3 inches from touching the frame supports. This is not what was advertised for this setup

I am sorry to see that you have rated your experience as a one star. Is there anything that I can do to help.

by:

by:

Absolutely changes the ride quality, contrary to the information indicated.

by:

Had them professionally put on, and before a year was up the bottom parts fell off some place on a road.

by:

Still too new for me to review how the product works, but in terms of installation, I had a lot of issues with installation on my 2015 Ford F150. Everything I saw made it sound easy for self install by one person, but was pretty tough self install for me. I'm not an expert on vehicles, but generally pretty handy and I had trouble doing it by myself and took at lot of time.

Difficult parts were attaching the upper mounting bracket to the frame, and getting the bolt through a washer and into a mounting piece that I had to insert into the frame

Couple of notes. My truck is a 4x4 and the instructions said to mount the upper bracket in the bottom holes for 4x4's, but that was not possible as it wouldn't fit. After talking to manufacturer, they said it was ok to mount in the the upper holes that was supposed to be for 2wd models.

The instructions don't mention using lock tight on all nuts, but I had one the the sides come off and lost some pieces. After getting a warranty replacement, the manufacturer said to use lock tight, even though it wasn't noted on instructions man. They said in newer instructions, it adds that, but that wasn't included in the product I received

Hoping I will like the ride when I connect and use on my trailer and will reserve judgement till then

  • Air Bag and Automatic Leveling Compressor Kit for 2019 Ford F-150
The Firestone Ride Rite kit part # F2582 would be a great option for an air suspension kit that fits your truck. Then for a compressor kit part # F2610 would work great.

  • Best SumoSpring Option For 2019 Ford F-150 With 2,000 lb ATV In Bed
Hello Ron, thanks for reaching out. A 1,500 lb Timbren or SumoSpring would not be enough to support a 2,000 lb ATV in the bed. You would be overloading the springs and would not get the results you want. A really good option for that are the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS95QR. These are 3,000 lb capacity which is enough for your ATV. Plus they have a 2-piece design so they don't create a rough ride when you aren't loaded down. The Timbren # TFR1504E would also work for...

  • Air Bag Kit Recommendation for 5th Wheel Towing with a 2018 Ford F-150
Hey Michael, thanks for reaching out! The Timbren Active Off-Road Bumpstops # T28GR you installed on your 2018 Ford F-150 unfortunately have that reputation among users (although Timbren claims their systems provide a smooth ride). Because of this we typically recommend using the SumoSprings like part # SS95QR instead. The SumoSprings kits do a much better job at providing a comfortable traveling experience. For an air bag kit I do normally prefer the Firestone kits over the Air Lift...

  • Recommended Rear Suspension Enhancement for 2019 Ford F-150 to Replace Stiff Bump Stops
Because the Timbren suspension systems like the # TFRTT1504E you installed operate more as a longer bump stop, driving in conditions like you've mentioned and with the spring not engaged to the axle while under load, you're going to get a bumpier ride. In order to address this, your best bet is going to be to remove the Timbren springs and install something a bit more forgiving. The SuperSprings # SSA28 would work just fine, but I think there are better solutions for your truck that will...

  • SumoSprings Or Timbrens For My 2017 Ford F-150 4WD That Squats When Hooked To My Trailer
I do have a solution for you, provided your 2017 Ford F-150 4X4's suspension is in good condition. None of our options can overcome a vehicle's suspension that is not in good working order. The squat you get when your trailer is hooked up to your vehicle will cause your front end to ride light, cause wear and tear on your suspension, position your headlights in the incorrect position while you are driving, among other things. If I have to pick between the three options, I will choose the...

  • Comparing SumoSprings Solo and Rebel Helper Springs For a 2019 Ford F-150
The 3,000lb SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS95QR will provide more support to reduce the amount of sag that you are having with your dump trailer. Both the Rebel and 1,500lb SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-117-47 will perform similarly when your vehicle is not loaded or hauling your trailer. This is due to the progressive tension of the springs. The springs will start off softer and progressively become more stiff as the spring compresses. With your trailer...

  • SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs With RoadActive Suspension On a 2019 Ford F-150
The SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs # SSR-117-47 can be used with the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y on your 2019 Ford F-150. These 2 systems mount in different locations so they will not interfere with each other. The SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS95QR cannot be used as they mount on the same point around the leaf springs as the RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit # RAS3611-Y.

Between the RoadActive Suspension System item # RAS3611-Y and the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs item # SS95QR for your 2020 Ford F-150 I recommend the SumoSprings. These springs will keep your F-150 level when you're towing or hauling a heavy load and won't effect your ride quality when you are not loaded down. This system will work great with the Equalizer Weight Distribution System item # EQ37120ET you are currently using.

  • Suspension Enhancement for Towing Trailer on Uneven Roads
There are a few things you can do to try to even out your towing setup when traveling on unkept roads. You can add suspension enhancement to your truck, to your trailer, and then also upgrade the connection point between truck and trailer. Obviously you'll want to make sure you have your trailer loaded correctly as well with 10-15% of the weight being on the tongue. I recommend starting out with your truck by using the SumoSprings Rebel Custom Helper Springs # SS95QR. This fits your 2019...

Since you're going to be driving across country and spending a lot of time behind the wheel I recommend going with an air bag system because it will be the most comfortable. The Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs item # F2582 will be the best option for your 2WD F-150. These air bags have a 4,800 lbs capacity and will keep your truck level while pulling your travel trailer. • Recommended SumoSprings for a 2017 Ford F-150
SumoSprings like item # SS95QR are the best option for your application. The Rebel Custom Helper Springs are two separate pieces that only come in contact when weight is added to the rear of your 2017 F-150. This springs use progressive load control to support your trucks rear suspension. The more weight put on the rear end the compression in the springs. When you are not towing you will not notice the Sumosprings. They have a 3,000 lbs capacity. I have linked a review video below.

  • Will Firestone Ride Rite for 2016 Ford F-150 Reduce Off-Road Traction
The air bags of the Firestone Ride Rite kit part # F2582 do attach to both brackets so your suspension would be prevented from stretching out to provide you the articulation you need for traction so this wouldn't cost you any traction. Instead a better option would be the SumoSprings Rebel part # SS95QR which is a two piece kit that can separate for full range of the suspensions.

For the 5th wheel rails I recommend using the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit # DM8552028-71. These 5th wheel rails will use different mounting points than the SumoSprings so there are no issues.
