Hello everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at this Brophy figure eight coupling link for a 5/16-inch size chain, has a 4,400 pound working load limit. Now this coupling link right here will let you attach your safety change to your hitch quickly and easily. The application, if it's 5/16 of an inch thick chain, this will create a more accessible attachment point than the connection loops on your hitch. It does include everything shown here, the two piece coupling link, the pin, and the retaining collar.

Basically to put these two pieces together, your pin will slide through, and then when you get to the center, you'll drop in this retaining collar and it's a press fit through there. So to get it to go all the way through, you have to take a hammer and tap on that pin until it goes all the way through, and you'll have your two links connected. Now, if you do ever have to have to remove the pin, what you'll want to do is take a punch and hit it with a hammer until the pin slides out. Remove your collar, and then you'll have your two pieces. Now this is a grade 80 steel construction, uses a corrosion-resistant zinc plating.
