Hi, everyone. It's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our Thule Rapid Gutter Feet that are eight inches tall, right here on our 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. So if you need some extra clearance above your Jeep, maybe you have extra large clamps that are gonna be going around your crossbars, or maybe you wanna use this with a different type of Jeep, especially the ones that have that top that goes back, you're gonna need some extra height. And this is where our Rapid Gutter Feet come in handy. These are a bit taller than your regular fit for your Jeep, and will give you that clearance.
So your Jeep Wrangler Unlimited has gutter mounts that are 56 inches long, which means you can move your towers back and forth to get the best fit for your different types of accessories. So here we have the ProBars installed actually, and that way we have extra height, extra clearance, and extra weight capacity. So these are the 69 inch long ProBars with these towers. So taking some measurements here, we're first gonna measure for overhang. From the edge of the tower to right before the end cap, is 8 1/4 quarter inches.
So if you need to mount different items up here, that overhang will be helpful. Since this is higher up, you do want a little extra overhang. That way you can reach it more. So the eight inches of height this adds is actually measured from the gutter. So from the gutter to the bottom of the crossbar, it's eight inches.
Now measuring here on our roof, from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar, it's 5 3/4 inches. And that's how much more clearance you now have for your other accessories and your clamps. Rain gutters are pretty standardized in terms of their dimensions, so this should fit most of your rain gutters. Now let's take some measurements just in case though. So for the width of the mount, it's going to be six inches wide.
The Jeep gutters we have are a quarter inch in terms of width. So that will also help you figure out if this is gonna fit in your gutters. So this uses a combination of aluminum and steel to construct the towers. Then you also have that rubber feet underneath. So comparing that to the Rhino-Rack roof rack, that's extra tall. That one has fiberglass instead, so you do have a different type of feel there, but this also has a weight capacity of 165 pounds. The ProBars are unique in their design. Most of your newer crossbars have P-tracks up top, but the ProBars have it up top and to the side. So if you need to mount, let's say, your cargo anchors, your eye bolts, you can put them in here, and then you can put your cargo on top. And now this is technically a tri T-slot, so you have another track underneath, but that's gonna work like your other crossbars, and where you install your towers. While your ProBars do have a 220 pound weight capacity, you are limited by the weight capacity of your towers. So your towers have a recommended weight capacity of 165 pounds. So keep that in mind when you're loading this up with all that cool gear and accessories. Now talking about the towers, we already know they give you that extra clearance, and then they fit into the gutters of your Jeep. If you do not have gutters on your vehicle, let's say you're not using this with a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, what you can do is you can get artificial rain gutters added on. That way you can mount this down and tighten it down. Speaking of tightening it down, you have this clamp that goes around the gutter and then into your door. So as you can see here, when we open up our door, here is our seam for our rubber seal for our door. With this fully tightened down, it's flush against the gutter. We can slam the door on the clamp without any issues. So with this kit, everything's going to be included. You are not going to need any extra tools, although I do recommend picking up a tape measure. That way everything's easier to line up. You do have this knob at the end that you can tighten down. And it does not include lock cores though, so if you wanna add that and utilize the one-key system that Thule has, get that added onto your cart. My personal thoughts about this roof rack setup, is it's definitely a lot taller than your normal fit. So I'd only recommend this when you have those extreme situations, and you need extreme height, you need extreme weight capacity, and the extra overhang. Otherwise, I actually would recommend going with our recommended kit with the WingBar Evos, and the normal Rapid Gutter feet. Now comparing this with other brands, Rhino-Rack has extra tall towers as well. I actually prefer those in terms of looking cool as well as looking heavy duty. Those towers are made of fiberglass, while these are made of aluminum and steel. So, it could also be a difference in terms of what you want your roof rack to look like. Otherwise they both work great. They both allow you to carry your accessories, like your roof basket, your kayaks, or even your platform racks. So definitely something worth considering. So if you have your other Thule accessories, this is a great option for you, because then this can all work together. You can use the Same Key System that Thule has, and then you get that extra height and clearance for your Jeeps or other vehicles.
