This semi-custom SportRack roof rack easily installs on your vehicle's bare roof so you can carry extra cargo to your next destination. Adjustable, rotating footpads combine with an easy-to-use numbering system to make the rack conform to your roof for a good fit.

A unique numbering system is inscribed on the crossbars to aid in installation. This system corresponds to numbers noted in the easy-to-read application guide. First, find the number indicated for your car, and then slide the roof-rack feet along the crossbars until they line up with the appropriate number for your application. Tighten the feet in place with the included Allen wrench.

Refer to the application guide to find specific measurements that allow you to properly position the rack on your roof. To begin installing the roof rack on your vehicle, open the passenger's- and driver's-side doors. Place the front crossbar first, and make sure that the screws that hold the clamps in the roof-rack feet are loose before positioning the feet on your roof.

Before attaching the clamps to the door jambs and tightening them down, you need to make sure that the feet and pads are oriented correctly. The bottom of each foot can be rotated to better fit the slope of your roof. Make sure that the feet are sitting flush against the roof.

Once the feet are properly positioned, attach the clamps to the door jambs and tighten via the screws in the feet. After the front crossbar is positioned, review the instructions for the measurements needed to place the rear crossbar and repeat the same process for that crossbar.

Once everything is tightened down, place the locking covers over the feet to deter theft of the rack.

Easy to assemble and, solidly built. Very easy/fast to mount/remove after assembly. The instructions are not all that clear for assembly of the combined sr1003 sr1116. I hope this photo will help. Note that the rubber feet remain on the back bar that crosses the car, but the hook that goes under the door frame is transferred to the sr1116 front to back extender bar.

The rack was fairly easy to put on, do NOT over tighten the rectangular nuts on assembly. They are easy to strip. There are now backup nuts on all four bolts on our unit. Be careful to assure that the rubber pads are correctly positioned on the unit's "feet" before tightening it down on your roof. It looks good and on a recent trip from CT to TN and back, we got the best fuel mileage we've gotten since we bought our CRV over a year ago so it sure doesn't create a lot of drag! Once mounted it is sturdy and not unattractive although the side clamps do distort the door gaskets a bit which increased the wind sound level a bit. I think it is a good value if you are careful mounting it.

1994 Honda Civic

Overall good quality product. Installed super easy and self explainatory on my 1994 Honda Civic DX coupe 2dr. One thing though, the websites description about which vehicles this fits is misleading. Part #SR1003 is ONLY for 4dr vehicles. The only way it works with 2dr vehicles is if you have the SR1116 adapter. I almost made the mistake of ordering only the SR1003. Both of my civics are 2dr and if you order the SR1003 alone there is no way for the back bar to mount up far enough away from the front bar for you to carry anything. Glad I did extensive research before ordering. Will be using to carry kayaks.

This fit perfectly on my 1995 Honda Civic coupe. The short roof adapter was required for it to fit. Water can leak in through the doors while this is on, but luckily it doesn't rain much where I live. I've been using this to transport my surfboard and it's been working great!

The rails came exactly as pictured. The instructions are very easy to follow, you know once you decide that you probably should read them. Sport rack arrived with several gouges in cross bars, manual DID not have my vehicle listed. After calling etrailer and then being referred to Thule I was able to get the info I needed for install. That being said, this is a one size kinda fits all unit, with all that that implies. You trade custom fit for price. Worth it? You'll have to decide for yourself. For me I'm only going to use this rack occasionally so it's worth the trade-off.

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

I purchased one of the Naked Roof Racks for my 2006 Toyota Corolla and the directions were easy to understand, very clear as to what needs to be done and the racks fit my roof well. In the directions they say to tighten the width adjuster bolts down to 53 inch pounds of torque and I did, but while tightening it down I did notice on the bars aren't the strongest of material because while tightening the width brackets down (to 53 inch pounds) it did cave/crease in the walls of the bars. I think it will be fine, just more secure so the width definitely won't move at all. Also, while driving above 60 mph there is a bit of wind noise but I'm alright with that since these will be coming off when not in use. Overall I'm happy with the product, the price point and rather quick delivery was excellent.

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

I was looking for a high quality roof rack for a naked roof. After much research I ended up with the SportRack #SR1005 with square steel crossbars. The rack fits well, the bars do not bend under weight of my canoe. Very solid, went fishing today!

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

WHAT AN ABSOLUTE PIECE OF GARBAGE! We read instructions and installed carefully. Weighed bicycle and rack to make sure it wasn't over the weight limit. Took off for first spring ride, got on the interstate and the whole rack slid off of the roof and VERY LUCKILY landed on the side of the road upright without harming any other motorists. It did, however, cause damage to the roof/window area of the car that will cost a fortune to repair and gouged the rear window. The cheap clamps that attach the rack to the roof weren't strong enough to hold the rack on and all broke and/or pulled/twisted off. It was a windy day and it happened when going about 60 mph.

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

Easy to install with easy to understand instructions. It will make the car ride a little noisier (outside noise) due to the fact that the door seals are now a little ajar but not that bad. So far so good.

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

Doesn’t fit securely onto the vehicle. I have a 2015 jetta and I wouldn’t trust it with just my surf board on it. There isn’t enough counter resistance between the pad and the metal that goes in the door jam. When tightened down at the directions specifications I can pull it off with two fingers. I install solar panels for a living so I’d like to believe I know what secure mounting feels like. Spend the extra $$ if you have a naked roof and get something better than this.

Comments
Thank you for the review! If you are looking for a different roof rack, you might like the Rhino Rack version. I attached a link below for a Rhino Rack roof rack for a 2015 Volkswagen Jetta with a bare roof. This Rhino Rack is comparable in style with the square bars, but it is a step up in quality.

Review from a similar Semi-Custom Rack in Roof Rack

Installed very easily in about 30 mins. Good, solid roof rack for the money. The reason I rated 4 stars is because on my car, a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, the weather stripping seals at the top of the doors gets pushed out quite a ways and there’s a decent amount of wind noise that comes in through there. Enough noise comes in that I will have to purchase some additional weather stripping and place it near the clamp of the rack inside the door where it shuts. I have no other complaints besides that. Just be aware of the weather stripping on your car if it’s similar to what is on a 2012 Jetta. I will update once I install the additional weather stripping to see if it helps or not.

Comments
I recommend to add a fairing to divert the wind to reduce the wind noise. I recommend Inno fairing part INA262 to fit the 50 square bars of your roof rack.

  • Economically Priced Roof Rack to Fit Flush Rails of 2018/2019 Honda CR-V
We have great roof racks that fit your 2018/2019 Honda CR-V, but the Sportrack is not listed as a fit. And even if it was I would not recommend it for you as it does not have a reputation for fitting well. The best priced option for the flush rails of our vehicle is the Rola part # R4002 which installs easily and gives you aero shaped bars for minimal wind noise.
