Today, we're going to be taking a look at the Erickson Rope Ratchet tie down, rated at 250 pounds, part number 01801. This ratcheting rope tie down has a wide variety of uses from strapping kayaks and small boats to the roof of our vehicle, kind of acting as a bow and stern strap, or if you're going to secure maybe an ATV or UTV on your trailer or bed of your pickup truck or any other smaller items that need to be secured. It has a 3/8-inch diameter nice heavy duty rope. It has a special woven design for maximum strength and durability. It has a 250-pound working load limit. You can see it comes with these 2 silver hooks. These just are going to allow you to quickly and easily attach and detach from a connection point, so that you're not tying the rope around something or looping it around. This is the ratcheting mechanism. Now, the ratcheting mechanism kind of acts like a pulley that has a stop on it and then locks in place, so basically, you just pull this strap really tight, secure your gear in place, and then, that lock inside this housing is going to prevent the rope from loosening up.
To release it, we'll just push forward on this silver tab. You can see then that way I can freely loosen or tighten the strap depending on what application I'll be using it for. Now, we'll go ahead, we've got a kayak up on the roof of a vehicle here behind me, and we'll just this to secure the rear of the kayak to the rear of the vehicle. Now, we're going to hook to the loop here on our kayak, but we're going to make sure that the pulley or the locking mechanism is at the top, so that way we can pull downward on the strap, which is going to tighten it. Then, we'll just take the remaining hook and hook it here on our safety chain loops on our hitch, and then, we'll pull the end of the rope downward, which is going to tighten the 2 ends together, securing the rear of our kayak to the rear of our vehicle. With the rear of our kayak secured, that'll complete today's review of the Rope Ratcheting tie down from Erickson, which is rated at 250 pounds, part number 01801. .

Love these tie downs. Been using them for years.
Strong, easy to use, and got excellent results! Would highly recommend this product.
Works better than other similar products that I have used in the past.
The straps are an excellent way to secure loads and easy to use.
This is a lot better than using rope to tie my kayak bow and stern to my vehicle. Saves time loading and unloading.
Good apparatus. Did what I wanted it to do.
Good for general use to secure items in my pick-up
I just received the product. I like it so far but time will tell. It is too early to assess the usefulness of it right now.
Purchased several sizes and use them and love them. Tough and durable!
