Video Transcript for WeatherTech Front Side Window Air Deflectors Installation - 2016 Chevrolet Colorado

Speaker 1: Today on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, we're going to be taking a look at and showing you how to install the WeatherTech side window air deflectors with dark tinting for the front. And that's going to be Part Number WT-80766. That's also available with light tinting, using Part Number WT-70766.So here's what our air deflectors look like on our Colorado. These are going to be available for the front only, for the rear only, or as a complete set where we'll get the front and rear. The deflectors are going to come in handy in a lot of different situations. For instance, if it's raining outside and you want to let some of that stale air out of the vehicle and let some of that fresh air come in but not get wet, these are going to keep the window covered enough that it will let air out, but water can't get inside.

It's also going to come in handy on those rainy days where it may be hot, but you know it's going to rain later on. Well, we can leave our window cracked like we have here so we won't have all that heat building up inside whenever we go to get in our car later. Each one of our deflectors is going to be made out of a three millimeter thick acrylic construction, so they're going to be extremely flexible, but also very durable and hold up over time. Now what I really like about these is the design. They're going to have a really sleek design to them, real low-profile, they're not going to stick out real far like some of the older ones. And these are going to actually go inside the window channel rather than the ones that go onto the outside of our door frame when we have that double-sided tape sticking on.Another benefit of the in-channel design is that we're going to have this entire vertical section of our window covered as well, so as we roll the window down, we're still going to have coverage from the front so we don't have to worry about any kind of rain or anything else coming into our window. So if you want to roll your window down on those rainy days but not get wet, these are going to be a great option, while still looking really nice and having that low-profile design.

So now that we've seen what they look like and gone over some of the features, let's show you how easy it is to get them installed. To begin your installation, you want to make sure your window's completely rolled down. Then we can grab our front window deflector. Now, you're going to just know it's the right size and it's the front because it's going to contour along with the window here. So we'll take this front piece and we're going to put it into the window channel. And this bottom edge here is going to rest right on the windowsill. Now, we want to leave this corner out for now and we're going to bend it slightly so we can get this back section in like this.

And then, we're going to start working the deflector in, and as we start working it in, we're going to want to slide this back section up at the same time. And we just kind of make sure it sits in there all the way. Once we have it in, we're going to want to gently pry away from the vehicle, just a little bit, to make sure it seats in there all the way. And then we're going to want to open the door and run the window up and down at least five times. And this will help make sure that it seats fully in the channel there.

So with this one installed, we can move to the other side and put that one in as well. That'll finish up your look at the WeatherTech side window air deflectors for the front on our 2016 Chevrolet Colorado.

First bad experience with a WeatherTech product. Do not recommend for 2010-2014 Ford Expedition or similar models. I see 4 flaws.

3 of 4 pieces cracked at the corner even when I tried to be as gentle as possible in incrementally raising windows once installed. It seems to be just a few millimeters too oversized.

Second, Rear windows will not raise all the way back in place due to thickness of plastic, it stops. You have to push windshield up while holding the switch.
I was worried that this force would damage the window tint due to excess friction and it may push the rubber out to the point it would be damaged if I took them off months or years later.

Third, and arguably the most important. Too much wind noise. The Ford Expedition is very quiet for an SUV. I tried these for close to a week and I had to take them off. It sounded like gusty wind noise even when there was no wind other then the vehicle going through the air. I removed them and the SUV was quiet again.

Four, It isn't optically correct. Hard to see in the photo, but when looking at the area between the A pillar and side mirror, it's wavy and distracting. Also makes the A pillar appear much larger when it's darker outside due to the tint.

So even though they look nice, and you can crack your windows in the rain if your car is sitting still or you never exceed 50 mph... I wasn't able to get comfortable with the above issues. I can't return them since I installed them and tried them. But hopefully someone else can benefit from this.

I bought just the fronts for my silver 2nd gen CRV which was nice. Install was easy as you just flex them abit and install in the window channels. First few widow "ups" would trip the safety and send them back down.
Helped keep the car cool but ended up getting the rears and that helped more. I normally lower the widows ~1/2 the vent depth and only some blowing snow has entered.
Can rip the highway with window lowered some without the usual buffering and noise.
Only home wash all my cars so don't know how they would stand up to gas station washers.
Lower profile, nicer look and no big lip as on the peel and stick type.

The weather tech 4 piece rain guards just as described. Transaction was hassle free and delivered promptly. Communication was top notch. Will order from etrailer when the need arises. Highly recommend this company.

by:

Simple to install, looks great. Can leave windows open a bit when it's raining to get some fresh air. Ordering from trailer could not have been any easier. Shipping was quick.

Very satisfied and pleased with my purchase experience from etrailer and the weather-tech side door window guards.
Glad I finally converted to weather tech. Installation was simple and no need of vht tapes.
Fitment is perfect, real clean low profile look , as if they belong there.
Highly recommend etrailer and the quality products they offer and professional experience . Top notch customer communication!
Looking forward to working with them for future purchases..

Don't look to close. I think that products coming from a company that prides itself on custom fit, the fit would be better. The reveal along the top is very uneven. Instructions say to roll window up very slowly, right, power windows. First time up, crack, :( . Luckily the cracked piece is small and hidden.

Easy installation

by:

It was actually for my dads truck and here’s what he had to say:
The items were received in a properly packaged box and in good condition. The instructions were straightforward, clear and concise. Installation went smoothly and was completed in a relatively short amount of time. The fitment was precise. I went with the adhesive style, as they appear to be more secure. This style offers less wind noise, in my opinion. Additionally, they offer proper water protection (deflection) along with sleek looks. I definitely recommend this product and etrailer was great from start to finish.

Great product and fast shipping

by:

The rear guards are wrong. Too small. The website said "it will fit". Not even close.

by:

paid the little extra to go with these well made and excellent fitting window vents as other "stick ons" just dont last. I bought from etrailer as they track shipping and assure delivery.

very pleased!

highly recommend WeathTech & etrailer

Look good and easy to install. Fast del ivery

WeatherTech products looks fantastic but can be a pain in the rear to install. Keeping the product in the sun makes it a bit more flexible. But I do recommend the product to keep those windows cracked and water out.

I’ve bought these for several of my vehicles. I considered them essential equipment for adventure travel. The model made for my 2016 Subaru Forester is not up to the same standard as the other units I purchased for other models. The shaping / contour actually sucks rain and moisture into the vehicle, rendering this model virtually useless. Generally I consider this a good product, but not this particular version.

by:

When I ordered these side window air deflectors it was noted not confirmed to fit but I’m confirming it now and they work great and easy to install

by:

Very good fit. Profile of the deflector is barely noticeable. Did not interfere with the window operation. When traveling, no whistling noises.

by:

First of all etrailer is a very good place to buy stuff for your car truck or trailer, I have done it all and they’re great. The weather tech side window rain guards which I bought for my new car fit perfect and look great. I bought my items from a lady named Joy she was very easy to talk to, very pleasant and very upscale. Joy knew what she was talking about And answered all questions very well

by:

My weathertech sun shield fits great and looks good. I was glad when they arrived in good condition. Was worried they would have damage to it.

by:

The front deflectors fitted great; however, the rear deflectors were 3.5 inches too short. Caroline did a great job trying to find out why they were short. She called Weather Tech and did not find out why. I ordered the ones that I was told to.

We could not find anyone to tell us why they were short.

I would like to compliment Caroline on her assistance and how hard she worked for me on this matter.

by:

The front ones work well, however the wrong size was sent for the rear windows. We just sent them back and have not reordered because they only come in sets for both front and rear windows and it seems wasteful to order another full set.

by:

The WeatherTech Side Window Air Deflectors with Dark Tinting - Front and Rear Look great on my vehicle, being the type that mount inside the window channels makes for a much better look. The lines of the vehicle remain the same but better ventilation is possible without showing that the windows are down just a bit. Very happy with this purchase.

by:

Profile of the deflector is close fitting to the window frame so not very noticeable. Does not interfere with the window operation. No whistling noise when driving with the windows slightly open under the deflector.

by:

Great service and good video on how to install it on my truck. Appreciate the emails sent to advise me about when I should get it. Easy installation thanks to both Weather Tech instructions and trailer video. What’s to say other than great product and good quality and trailer is tops in service. Also fair pricing.
Thanks

Very easier installed

by:

Rain shields delivered as ordered. Very easy installation, a chimp could do it! Very slim and almost not noticeable.
