RV and boat owners have long relied on Twist Lock style connections for powering their rides. For years, it has been the best option for connecting to shore power. It's been reliable, but most know it's not without disadvantages:
SmartPlug's connector addresses each of these concerns and does all of the heavy lifting.
Locking arms grab the inlet, a clamp inside the plug body holds the cord, the inlet cap snaps to the top while in use, and the integrated seals weatherproof the connection. This helps prevent the wiggly, dirty connections that increase electrical resistance, which creates potentially dangerous heat.
Since it uses a square plug face, SmartPlug is able to use flat pins which create far more surface contact, further reducing the risk of high heat and electrical arcing. The square shape and flat pins also make it easy to plug in - no more twisting or guessing if the pins are lined up correctly.

etrailer kept me in the loop on the backorder of the black SmartPlug, I understood the supply chain, but it was nice to be updated on the timeline for shipment. So nice for a company to keep you in the loop without having to chase the details!
This is a very welcome improvement for our RV's Electrical hookup. Easy to install, took about an hour.
One concern, the connector instructions that I downloaded stated to cut back the cable outer jacket 1.25". The instructions that came with the connector stated to cut back the cable outer jacket to 1.75". I feel the 1.25" was correct. 1.75" does not really give you enough exposed outer jacket to achieve the required 1/4" grip by the cable clamp swing arm.

Well made and easy installation.
The female cord caps lugs do not line up properly. I cannot get all of the #10 wire under the lug. It appears that the plugs molded parts are not in line with the lugs. I'm most likely going to return it. I have been in the electrical industry for 44 years and do not trust not being able to get a good connection at 30 amps. These are supposed to help eliminate the chance of fire.You are better off just getting a high end cord for what this set up cost.
This is the 2nd of these items i have purchased, will be installing later on a different trailer. 1st went together fairly well still working great. Only issue is that these don't have the LED that OEM made cables have. Same with the 2nd one.
Ordered this for next day delivery because electrician was working on rig. Item was delivered by noon the next day! Fits perfectly and was exactly what we needed to get up and running. Received emails for tracking with 5 star customer service!

A nice upgrade I promised I’d install day one when we got our new trailer. A little harder than I thought to muscle the wires but well worth the effort. No more trying to keep the ol plastic nut from cross threading! I like the positive snap in and no worry of the smart plug.
This is an easy to use tough built plug. I love this modern solution to RV 30amp power.
I installed it my self in about 30 minutes.
I highly recommend this plug for its safety and convenience.
the plug internal metal broke after two uses. now i have a hole cut in a new mercedes van. toal rip off and expensie piece of cheap plastic and construction. BUYER BEWARE !!!

I have on several occasions experienced times when my electricity inside our RV wasn't working. It would inevitably be because the connection from shore power to the camper was loose. This has still been one of the best purchases Ive made for my RV. There is never any uncertainty as to whether I have a good connection to shore power. This product is worth the money.
The wire holes on the plug side are half blocked by the D ring. I had an awful time getting the wires in and am still not sure the whole of the wires are seated in the ring.

Smart Plugs is where it's at Randy, glad you made the swap!! What kind of camper did this go on, and what trip are you looking most forward to this year?
This is a fantastic upgrade from the stock 30A power input connector on my Geo Pro trailer. It is pricey but well made. Instructions were easy to follow.
Our plug that came with the RV was showing signs of small melting/burning due to poor connections. I am so glad we changed at the first sign of damage. This plug feels so much more secure and did not take long to change at all. It was also a perfect fit for our coachman leprechaun.
Good quality product,the only thing was the plastic that guides the wire into the clamps was not correct, the clamps would not open all the way and I had a hard time feeding the wire(10 guage soo cord) into the clamps. But built very strong.
Great improvement to the previous electrical outlet, makes connecting to shore power so much easier! Definitely a big improvement
This plug is very well built. I would have given it a five star rating, but the package was missing several # 6 screws that were needed....good thing I had some extra in the shop. The outer jacket stripping instructions could have been a little clearer also.

The plug has eliminated the open entrance for ant infestation Theyll have to find another way. I used roach powder to try and keep the ants from climbing the power cord and entering the camper....this product seals out everything from that particular entrance.

Great upgrade to my T@b 320. Will not have to worry about stripping the plug ever again.
