This SmartPlug connector features LED indicator lights that let you know if power pedestals have faulty wiring. It safely detects the presence of reverse polarity or open ground, two conditions that can cause a major electrical hazard and damage appliances. Now you can plug in your SmartPlug cordset to make sure pedestals are safe before connecting your RV or boat to shore power.
The connector uses blue and red LEDs to indicate the status of the connection. If only the blue light is on, power is on and you have a safe connection. If blue and red are on, the neutral has been incorrectly wired, causing reverse polarity. If only the red LED is on, a potentially dangerous ground condition is present. If no LEDs illuminate, there is no power, so check your connections. In the case of reverse polarity or open ground, disconnect your plug and notify management.

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer. Today we're gonna take a look at the smart plug four foot long 30 amp female to 15 amp male RV power cord. Now this is a four foot long adapter. It's gonna let you connect a smart plug cord set to an outlet at a home or campsite. The 30 amp female connector right here is designed to plug into your smart plug cord set, and this end, the 15 amp male connector plugs into an outlet. It does use a multi-point locking system right here.
You can see if you squeeze both sides, this multi-point locking system will ensure a nice solid connection. The dual smart plug locking side levers here will snap the plug securely into the inlet. This will help eliminate any stress on the plug connection, and the straight connection of the smart plug female end makes plugging in very easy, even in the dark. They do use triple weatherproof seals to prevent any water, corrosion or overheating. And you can see, it does include this nice clear snap-on cap that'll protect the terminals when this is not plugged in.
So you just push that on, and you hear it snap into place, won't fall out. The being clear helps easily see the type of plug because if you look on the end here, the plug is marked. So even with the cap on, you're able to tell what the connection is. Now this does use a reverse polarity indicator system, meaning it uses right up here. There's two LED lights here that'll let you know if it's safe to connect to shore power.
Basically there's a blue light and a red light. If just the blue light on, that means the power's on and the connection's safe. If both the blue and the red light is showing, that means it's in neutral, has been incorrectly wired, causing reverse polarity. And if just the red light shows, that means the ground is incorrectly wired. If both of 'em are off like it is now, that means there's no power connected.
This is made of high quality materials. It's gonna hold up in extreme climates or out on the water. Does use a marine grade stainless steel components that hold up season after season. And the pins on that inside, they are nickel plated brass electrical pins and tinned wires to resist corrosion. All the plastics are UV and heat resistant. Also, what's nice, if you notice the plug itself, the female plug is a nice bright orange color for visibility. And this part is made in the USA. This is exactly what we needed. Sometimes we need to plug the trailer into our homes 15amp circuit while getting ready for a trip. This means we don’t have our long expensive cord out for someone to steal! It also means we have a lighter weight cord to manage.
I was hesitant in ordering this pigtail since it was so expensive compared to the actual extension cord it self or other pigtails from other brands. Exactly what I needed to get 15 amps into my RV while in storage. I just upgraded to a Smartplug into my coach, and this cord solved the storage “problem.” I just received it today so haven’t had a chance to use it, but I’m impressed with its solid construction.
This item was originally ordered last summer but was out-of-stock in the inventory and was on back order. Multiple times the manufacturer established a delivery date that then a few days before the delivery date postponed delivery and re-established a new delivery date. etrailer kept me informed via email whenever they received new information from the manufacturer.
etrailer emailed me as soon as they received the item into its inventory, told me when it would be shipped and met their shipping date. The item came on time and I immediately used it to charge my camper van. It is exactly as advertised and I am totally satisfied with it.

It’s a power plug. It works as it should. Not sure why it needs to be so expensive though. Classic proprietary design language that allows corporate greed to screw us all.
The adapter is great. I use it to connect my Honda 2000 generator to my camper van to charge the lithium battery pack. I don't need to drag out the 30 foot 30 amp cord since I limit the charging current to 10 amps. I'm buying a "pocket yacht" a Ranger Tug 25 which has a smart plug connection. I'll carry the Honda and use the adapter there as well
