Updated 03/31/2025 | Published 11/19/2024

Question:

If I have a 30amp rv and a 30 amp surge protector and I am going to a place with a 50amp power source do I need a different surge protector or do i plug my surge protector into the adapter and then into the power source. Then plug my RV into the surge protector. Thanks - I am a new to RVing and electricity

Hi Bernadette,

You would want to plug your 50 amp to 30 amp adapter in to the power pedestal and then connect your Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU42VR to the adapter. Once the Watchdog lights show that the connection is good you can connect the trailer power cord to the surge protector. If you don't have a 50 amp to 30 amp adapter you can use the # A10-5030FBK.
