What is the Joules Rating for the Watchdog Gen II Surge Protector
Updated 10/27/2025 | Published 03/23/2025 >
Question:
I looking to confirm if I purchase your watchdog product HU42VR if that is the gen 2 power surge with EPO or if it’s the gen 1 version? The description for the product has a discrepancy saying it has the 6100 joules projection of the gen 2 model but further down says 3000 joules which I the gen1 version. The pictures of the product are for the gen 2 version so I want to make sure that if I purchase this it is the gen 2 version.

Hey Becky, thanks for reaching out!
The Portable Power Watchdog Surge Protector # HU42VR is the Gen II version and is rated for 2,300 Joules. The old Gen I 50A Watchdog was rated for 6,100 Joules which is I imagine where our mistake came from, and for that I apologize.
I've got an update in to get the Joules rating corrected, so it should reflect that in the near future.
Do you have any other questions for me?
