Approved for use on cars, trucks, vans, SUVs, RVs, motorhomes, and towable campers

Built for RVs

Yakima 8002476 LongHaul Bike Rack for RVs, MotorHomes, Travel Trailers

The Yakima LongHaul is built to withstand the added vibration and stress that comes from being installed on the back of your RV. The base has no moving parts, and the mast attaches to the shank with steel-reinforced brackets. These overbuilt components ensure that the rack can take any punishment that the road may inflict.

Dual Folding Arms with Anti-Sway Cradles

Yakima LongHaul 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Dual Folding Arms with TriggerFinger Lever

The LongHaul has dual arms that provide excellent support for your bikes. They slope up to provide ground clearance for steep driveways and bumpy roads.

Yakima LongHaul 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack TriggerFinger Lever

To fold the arms down, pull up the lever at the top of the mast. This leaves a smaller footprint, so it doesn't take up as much space at the campground or when parking in a tight spot.

Yakima RidgeBack 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Folding Cradles

Each set of anti-sway cradles have two ZipStrips that secure your bike along the top tube and one that secures the seat post or downtube. This multi-point contact helps keep your bikes from rocking back and forth, reducing bike-to-bike contact.

Yakima RidgeBack 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Zip StripsYakima RidgeBack 4-Bike Hanging-Style Rack Zip Strips

Because the ZipStrips are removable, the RidgeBack is easier to load than racks that have integrated straps that get in your way when you slide your bikes over the arms. To load your bikes, press the quick-release levers on the sides of each cradle and remove the ZipStrips, slide your bikes onto the rack, and re-insert the strips, pressing them firmly against each bike's frame. To remove your bikes, simply remove the ZipStrips.

Threaded Hitch Pin and Complete Security

Yakima LongHaul 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Knob

A threaded hitch pin is included to help eliminate rattle in the hitch receiver during transport. To tighten the pin in your hitch, use a 15/16" wrench (not included). The hitch pin includes a lock to secure the rack to your vehicle's hitch.

Yakima LongHaul 4-bike Hanging-Style Rack Locking Knob

An integrated cable lock threads around your bikes' frames and inserts into the lock at the end of the left arm. The cable stores inside the mast when not in use. The locks are keyed alike, so you only need to use 1 key. Additional SKS cylinders (sold separately) let you make all your Yakima products keyed alike.

Available Adapter Bar

Yakima EasyFold XT

If you have a women's bike, kid's bike, or any other bike without a straight, horizontal top tube, you will need an adapter bar (sold separately) to properly mount your bike. The bar fits between the seat post and handlebar stem post of your bike to create a top tube so your bike hangs level on the rack.

Sturdy. 4 bikes no problem. Girl bikes with the cross bar can be a pain, but this rack is a rick on the back of my 5th wheel. Etrailer was an enjoyment to order from.

This rack is defintely durable. We've had it for a year and it has worked great. The only issue is if you have youth or women's bikes. My bike (GT Mountain) has more than enough space for the rack but my son's bike (Trek Mountain) and my wife's (Shwinn) are very hard to load because of the space between the forks and the upright for the seat. I have gotten it to a science now that i've had it for a year but if you own specialized bikes (Youth or women's) your gonna find it hard to load and 4 bikes at the same time is gonna be almost impossible unless you start taking wheels off. They have a bar that they sell separately that goes from the seat post to the handlebars but i haven't purchased it yet. All in all it works pretty well. Pic is with only 2 bikes

by:

Not RV rated. Mine bent on the main tube going up and the arms going out holding the bikes. I contacted etrailer and Yakima without any warranty support. Both stating I loaded the bikes incorrectly. etrailer's website does not provide any instructions for how it should be loaded. Rating is for 37.5lbs per bike and you can not go over that limit even 0.5lbs. Good thing I didn't have 4 full size bikes on there.
I purchased Yakima specifically because of the name brand but I guess it is what it is.

by:

Too long for my Airstream Interstate. I should have done more research and measurements before buying.

by:

Easy to install. Took a little tweaking of the bikes and handle bar adjustments but seems study. We will see how it travels! The strap is too short so I used a ratchet strap through the wheels.

This was a huge fail for me. I attached a few pictures to show my issues.

To start with, my wife has a small frame bike. The frame of the bike will not fit on this rack. Even if I bought the bar that goes across making a flat top bar to attach to, the two frame rails that the bikes sit on will not fit in between the frame or the seat and the front frame. (Hard to explain, see picture of light colored bike)

2nd was my bike. I have a medium frame bike that did fit on the rack, but the handle bars and pedals are wider then all 4 bike positions available. There is absolutely no way that I could ever get 4 bikes on the rack. I don’t see 4 kids bikes fitting on this. I guess this is the issue with hanging style back racks.

Now I have to pay almost $[XX] to ship it back to etrailer. So I basically payed $[XX] to have this rack out of the box for all of 30 minutes. I’m happy they are taking a return but having to pay to return this item is going to keep me from buying from etrailer again. This is why Am**on is doing so well. You can return things for free.

Unfortunately, you are right about that. This really is the problem with the hanging style racks. It is difficult to get all four bikes on there, regardless of how you stagger them or adapter bars. It can be possible, but its not easy. If you are still looking for a four bike rack, you should consider part # HR4000. The price is close and the platform style is more spread out and will be much more accommodating for multiple bikes. Its a frame mount and is rated for a truck as well, and is compatible with a two inch hitch, too.

by:

Fast shipping as always. Product is heavy and well built: Exactly what I was looking for. I have four heavy steel bikes and lots of miles ahead of us. I didn’t want a flimsy poorly built product. Bonus: both ends of the fork have bottle openers.... [thumbs up]

I will try to remember to write another review after a few trips.

by:

This rack has worked great on the back of my fifth wheel. The attach points for the bikes are simple and sturdy, and I like having the cable lock as well. Smaller-framed bikes will need a Yakima TubeTop adapter.

by:

It's surprisingly difficult to figure out which Bike racks are safe the back of a travel trailer. Not all of them all. I found many options on etrailer and the filters and descriptions were perfect. Some were "RV safe", but not all RVs (not travel trailers). I was able to narrow it down, and found one perfect. Their price was competitive, and I received it in two days. Couldn't be happier.

by:

We had a Yakima product years ago and were very happy with it. I bought this unit because of the name AND because it is rated to put behind our 5th wheel. So far, as I haven't used it yet, it seems to be well built and easy to put together. If it fails i will update this post.

by:

For normal bikes behind a 38 ft. Fifth wheel this is unbeatable with anything rated as such in the market. However it cant handle normal weight of a Day 6 bike so I have to remove seat and wheels. In so doing it would be better if the design allowed the pads to rotate on the bar because the angle caused quick pad wear. I would like the set up to be able to handle at least 1 55 lb bike on an RV. The zip tie down are absolutely a great idea. We have travelled many miles in the midwest and have had no issues.

Bike rack is holding up well. About 5,000 miles in a year behind a fifth wheel RV on some really bad roads in areas across America.

by:

Although I have not yet had the opportunity to use the bike rack, I have very closely inspected the rack and it appears to well built and will serve its purpose well. It took over one year from the date of the order until it was delivered. This was due to global supply chain shortages and beyond the control of e-trailer. The good part in all of this is that original price quote was honored.

Yakima LongHaul has a solid build. Be aware that it may not fit your current bikes especially if it has cargo rack or is folding bike. I have to purchase two new bikes to fit on this rack along with my son's bike. Yakima LongHaul comes with two straps to hold the front wheels so they don't contact with adjacent bikes. I have to use one strap to hold the front wheels for two of my bikes. But Yakima should really provide four straps, one for each bike. It may take some time to arrange your bikes for the first few times to find the best spots to avoid contact. So far this bike rack serves me well on my SUV. I"m going to take a long trip with my fifth wheel soon. And I'll update this review later after the trip is done.

by:

The rack has great features and easy to use. I just wish the 2 arms were just a bit closer together. Many newer bikes have a top bar that curves down toward the seat post. This is the case with my new mountain bike. I had to purchase a bar that goes on the bike so I could fit it onto the rack. My sister has a similar (not sure what brand) but the 2 arms on the rack are just slightly closer together and she did need to buy the extra mounting bar for her bike(same bike as mine.) Otherwise just love the rack!

by:

The only problem with this unit is that it is very hard to fit the A frame mountain bike on the rack.

Larry, thank you for your review. When using a hanging bike rack such as part Y02476 you will need an adapter bar for bikes that do not have a top cross tube on the frame. I would recommend part # Y02531. This adapter will create a straight tube top for alternative frame bikes and allow it to hang evenly.

by:

I love this hitch. We use it on our 5th wheel, I like that you ratchet the bold down to tighten it so it doesn't bounce. The 3 point strap downs for each bike help keep them from hitting each other. Though it does feel very solid, my wife followed one day and said, they still bounce around, but come on, it's on the back for a 5th wheel, I think that is going to happen. Unless they have an approved 5th wheel bike carrier, this is what I found to be the best option.

by:

Heavy duty and sturdy. Easy to fold and securing the bikes is simple. I use this on the back of a 40 ft fifth wheel with 4 steel framed bicycles. There is a lot of thrash back there when I’m on the road and this bike rack handles it.

by:

I'm going to use it for long trips both on the back of a camper and an SUV. The joint between the upright post and the hitch insert appears to be very strong. I preferred this over the tilt style for the additional strength. Arms fold up/down easily. Frame mounts are soft and straps are easy to use. It's tall, the bikes ride high especially on back of the camper....very unlikely that they would drag the road in any steep hill or deep dip situations. Mine arrived without the hardware bag but etrailer customer service was great and sent a bag free of charge that arrived a couple days later.

by:

A very well designed and sturdy bike rack. Should hold up well for travel trailer use. Especially like the triple strapping system for each bike and hitch locking pin plus pull-out locking cable for the bikes. Same key fits each lock. Assembly is simple.

by:

Received the bike rack yesterday. The packaging was very stout and even though the box was damaged in transit, there was no damage whatsoever to the bike rack. Assembly is very easy and took less than 10 minutes. I'm using this in the hitch (2") on the back of my Glacier Peak 5th wheel. The hitch is very sturdy, built well, powder coating (gray) looks good and came with a cable lock to lock the bikes to the rack and a hitch lock to lock the rack in the hitch. Locks are keyed alike.

by:

Bought this for my 5th wheel. This rack does not hold 4 bikes. 3 seems to be the max. If you try to jam four bikes on there expect them to bang into each other and cause damage. I would call this a two bike rack on a good day. Yakima is known for great products but I feel like they fell short with this one. 1st trip out and the rubber pads for the top tubes ripped off. If you have a 5th wheel and your truck can support the weight I would go with a roof rack on the truck.

by:

We couldn't fit 4 bikes on this rack without taking parts off the bikes. It is a very solid rack but not compatible with the mountain bikes ( Brand new and expensive ) that we have

by:

Got to test it out this past weekend. It was very secure and held all the bikes nicely. The product shipped fast and all the pieces we there. I would recommend this product! Also it clears the spare tire mounted on the back of the camper.

by:

Performs exactly as advertised.

To mount a bike rack to the tongue of your R-Pod you will want to start out by using the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk Trailer-Mounted Bike Rack Carrier for A-Frame Trailers # CC-275. This bike rack mas a max capacity of 37.5 lbs per bike and your bikes would be well over this weight capacity. The 150 lb total capacity is for 4 bikes only, not for 2. • Bike Rack Recommendation Similar to Kuat Sherpa that Can Be Used at Rear of 5th Wheel Trailer
At the rear of a trailer or RV the ride quality is very rough when compared to the ride quality at the rear of a passenger vehicle. Reason being the suspension isn't as sophisticated and there is a longer distance between the rear axle and the rear of the trailer which exaggerates the movement of the trailer when hitting bumps. Because of that only a few bike racks were designed to be reinforced enough for that type of use. We do have the very similar Swagman E-Spec bike rack part # S94FR...

I know it can be a bit confusing because a trailer hitch is a trailer hitch, but the reason the Yakima HoldUp 4 Bike Platform Rack # Y02443-2 isn't appropriate to install on your 5th wheel RV trailer hitch is simply due to the extra movement at the back of 5th wheels.
