Was what I was looking for & easy to install.

by:

Excellent product & great service. First item I ever brought online.

by:

I am impressed with the quality of the constructio of this item.

by:

Product is very well built. Went on the trailer bumper as stated. Looking forward to using it.

by:

This bike rack was a dream to construct. All components are very strong and the product is solid. You can literally build it by simply looking at the product picture on the outside of the box.

by:

Simple, easy to install and is very functional. etrailer is great and do what they say. I just placed another order!

by:

Does not fit 2 bikes of different size. does not have needed structure for securing the bikes. Bikes would hit the back of the trailer causing damage to trailer or bikes.

by:

Fits and holds bikes very well, 4 inch bumper - they need to add more support for the upright bikes, they hit rear of trailer.

I agree, they should include two uprights. I ordered a 2nd one from Skagman, around 30 bucks with shipping.

I recently purchased the RV Bumper 2 bikeRack from etrailer.com. I received my purchase in a timely fashion and found the item to be well made and easy to install on the back of my View Finder travel trailer. I used it for the first time this past week to transport my wife's and my own mountain bike on our scheduled getaway to Astoria. It functioned flawlessly. The bikes were easy to load and unload and were secure during transport. I strongly recommend this product.

Bike Rack arrived in minimum time and was exactly as described. Have not installed yet, since I need to relocate the spare tire on my camper. I will use it in the same area as the spare tire.

I have now used the bike rack for two years. Many people have asked about it. I had my dealer move my spare tire underneath my fifth wheel behind the front battery storage area. He added a cable hook up to lower and raise the spare tire. Very similar to how spare tires are mounted in trucks. He did it for less than $100 .

by:

Everything went great from the git go, the rack was at my front door the day I was told that it would arrive. The installation was a snap; it took about 15 minutes to complete, the only tool you need is a 9/16" wrench. The loading of the bikes are quick and easy, much better than hauling them in the bed of the pick up, which took a lot of time trying to strap them so they would not get damaged during the trip. Today was my first trip with the bike rack, I hauled 2 mountain bikes for 75 miles with no problem or damage to the bikes. Great product!

by:

It's been just over a year tha I purchased my Swagman two-bike rack for my 5th wheel. The customer service I received form "etrailer" was exemplary. I had questions about the size and my CSR actually called the manufacturer got the answer and called me back! The rack was an easy mount requiring one wrench, two hands and about ten minutes. It's sturdy, looks great and functions flaulessly! Although it isn't a suggested procedure, at 265 pounds I stand on mine to wash my back window. Of course I stand close to the bumper and not on the outter edge, but my point is, it's a very sturdy unit and is at a great price point. If you need a rack look no further than, etrailer and Swagman!

Ive sold my 5th wheel and the bike rack but the new owner loved the rack. My experience with the rack is I cant imagine a rack being easier to install, more sturdy for the price point or in general a great piece of equipment.

by:

The bicycle rack mounted easily by myself without help from another person. It is very strong and holds our two bicycles just as I had hoped. I slipped a pool noodle over the upright support bar to prevent scratching the inside bicycle. The only thing I can suggest is that the product would have been better if it included the cover for the upright support pole and some strapping material to keep the bicycles solidly in place while traveling. The strapping material is not a big priority for me though because I have lots of it.

by:

Bike rack was exactly how it appears. Quality material of construction for what it is. Total time to assemble, about 20 minutes. Had a question about shipping time, got a quick response from George at etrailer. Bike rack actually came in earlier than scheduled date.

by:

Perfect and went on easy

by:

This was a great compromise in cost, ease of install and use.

Easily attached to the bumper (and saved cost as I didn't need to install a hitch on the RV).

Bikes went in well, but needed to use pool noodles to insulate the bikes from each other and from the central pole. (Will switch to more sturdy pipe insulation next time). Add some bungies and velcro straps (to hold the wheels) and you're all set.

Held our 2 mountain bikes flawlessly over our 8,000 mile road trip last summer.

by:

Cannot slide the two sections far enough apart so that both bike wheels will fit into their respective slot. When mounted the ends of the rack stick past the bumper on the vehicle side too far. This means that the ends are sticking into the cut out for the RV back wall above the tow hitch which limits moving the sections further apart. Also an improvement could be made by having a hinge that would allow for lifting the rack in an upright storage position.

It is possible that this might not be the bike rack for you. How wide are your tires? Would you be able to send a picture of your bikes on the rack?

by:

The rack was strong and easy to install. I am very proficient with rope and tie downs. I had my bikes loosen up on me during the one and only time I used these racks. It was hard to get the proper tension in the right directions without stressing the wheels and scratching the frames. I bought a hitch mounted rack instead.

by:

I ask for information on the bike racks that would fit my rv and they answered all my questions. My order arrived sooner than I thought and I installed it last nite and it will work fine. I am planning on sending pictures.

Thanks to all

The rack is great, just what I wanted. I recommend this to all the campers I meet with bikes.

by:

So far so good, using it to mount a generator to the rear bumper of our 5th wheel. Have not had her on the road yet, so I'm not sure how it will hold up. It feels very secure so I'm feeling good that it will hold up.

Bike rack working great,Ive been using it as a generator platform on the rear of my 5th wheel.

by:

It is a beautiful piece of equipment ever made to transport bikes on the rear of a rv

by:

Great price for a simple but effective bike rack. Have used it on the back of a 5th wheel RV, and overall it works well. Installation was very easy, be sure to adjust the position of the two pieces to fit your bicycle footprint. I just used some creative bungee cording to hold the bikes in place at the wheels and to the vertical pipe. The bikes are held firmly in place with very little movement.

My only real issue is with the vertical support, and its lack of adjustability. In my case, the bikes would lean towards the RV, with the handlebar hitting the glass window because it was so close. I attached a 2x4 spacer to the vertical support to position the inside bike straight up, and that took care of the issue, but it would be nice if there was some way of adjusting the bar.

Also, kudos to etrailer, for their great support. Delivery came early, and product was in great shape. I've used Etrailer before, and will continue to.

by:

I bought not as a bike rack, but as a platform to bolt a couple large storage contains on the back of my camper. My regular hitch style bike rack fits right between...worked great. I've been using it for one year now...no problems.

  • Bumper Bike Rack Solution for 2015 Jayco X20E Hybrid Camper
Hey Charles, so the reason the RV Bumper Bike part # S80605 that you referenced requires 2 inches between the bottom of the trailer body and the top of the bumper is to clear the mounting hardware. So if you are sure you don't have that clearance you wouldn't be able to install the rack. You could possibly modify the body to gain the clearance or a bumper hitch like the part # E-100 with an RV bike rack like the # S36FR could work too.

  • How to Determine If Swagman RV 2-Bike RV Bumper Mount Rack is Right For Your Application
Many RV bumper manufacturers construct their product with a plastic cap or a hinged door instead of endcap, allowing bumper to be used for storage; apparently you have this type. Open that end piece to examine if the seam has spot welds (short welds at a number of separate points) or one continuous weld running the full length of the bumper; take note of the thickness of the metal while doing so. Some bumpers, frequently identified as heavy duty, will not have a weld seam at all but are...

While the Swagman Bumper Mount Racks, parts # S80600 and # S80605, do give you some mounting options, these are designed for lighter 30 lb bikes so the bars that hold the bikes up aren't really designed for heavier 60 lb e-bikes.
