Optronics RVILL34 LED Interior RV Light Dimensions

Raw Lumens vs. Effective Lumens

Lumens are used to measure the amount of usable light that is put out by a light source. Raw lumens represent the number of lumens that the manufacturer claims the LEDs are capable of producing. It does not include the light's drive method or the amount of light lost from the lens or reflector. Effective lumens take these factors into account and represent the number of lumens that are actually produced by the complete light assembly, not just the amount of light that the diodes are capable of producing. This light has a 920 raw lumen capacity and produces 815 effective lumens.

Very nice product for a very low price. I think these are the best buy in trailer lights. They're good enough that I cancelled my plans to install a couple of 4ft strip lights. Brightness - very good, a pair fully and easily light up the interior of my 8.5x20 enclosed trailer. It helps that I have gloss white walls and ceiling. For a trailer with a plywood interior, I would probably go with 3 of these on the ceiling. If you need detailed task lighting, you might consider using 4 of these (two at the ends of the trailer and two spaced out between front and back). That would give an enormous amount of light thruout the interior. Installation: very easy. The covers come off easily if you use a blunt tool and push on the cover "slots" to ease the lens off. I used the blunt handle of a trim removal tool, but a piece of wood dowl would work fine as well, Even a screwdriver might be fine if you were really careful with it. The lenses are on tight but apply firm pressure an the lens will slide loose. The lights have 8 mounting holes but you really only need to use 4. This makes it easy because you just pick the holes that are most convenient to use (I put a pair into the aluminum header rail in my trailer ceiling). Don't forget that white is ground and black is power. I grounded the lights by crimping a small ring terminal on the white lead and putting it over one of the mounting screws.

Comments
I compared these with the lights in many other trailers and no question these are the best value in trailer interior lighting. There are better lights but at more than 5x the price. Quite a few friends who saw these in my trailer have bought these to replace their existing lights.

I bought several of these to replace the 20 year old florescent lights in our Class B motorhome. Super easy to install, though getting the clear dome off was tricky at first. These really brighten up the rig and we actually turn on fewer and get more light overall compared to the old lights. When used for a task like washing dishes or reading on the couch, they are great in providing plenty of illumination in the one area needed. And they look great as well. I like them so much, I ordered some more to use in a much newer travel trailer. Great product.

I changed out 7 double and 5 single lights to these LED lights in our 2009 Wildwood Bunkhouse. They are excellent lights and nicely brighter than the originals (many of which were beginning to melt the lenses). I noted in the reviews of the trouble getting the lenses off for mounting. I had all 19 lenses off in less than 5 minutes. Very simple. Just used a small wooden dowel (diameter of a pencil) with the end shapped square and placed in the small notch in the lense and gave a firm tap with a small hammer. Tap one side then the other and they are off. I rigged up a stop for the light on the camper table but could have used a shallow drawer or some such.

Comments
Lights have worked out great. The battery power supply fan never turns of now, but did originally when about 4 old lights were on. I am thinking of replacing the last two, that I thought last year would not be used much.

This LED light corrected the problem that I had with OEM lights in my 2014 travel trailer where RFI from the lights were causing interference on broadcast television. Of course I have other lights that need replacement, but this is a solution. Attached photo is for the single head light which also had the same problem.

Well nice light, much brighter, and it also lists it as a Custom Fit for the 2010 Keystone Energy TT Toy Hauler and is an LED, but you will find the lights that came in that trailer are much wider than this model. You will have to move the light over to cover the front holes and kind of press the roof material back over and have a few holes on the back side. I touched them up some with a paint pen and will have to find something to patch them with.

I installed these lights every 4 feet in my new enclosed car hauler and boy to they light things up! With no windows in the trailer and the door closed it's completely dark in there and the one tiny light supplied with the trailer was not going to do it.

Comments
Lights work great. I installed a master switch right by the door and when I enter I can light up the entire trailer. A million times better than the single light that came with the trailer.

I replaced the 12V incandescent light sources in my RV with these, about 12 of them. They were physically smaller than the original fixtures so they were not plug-and-play in my case. I ended up gutting out the flat LED panels (2 of them per unit) from the new units and grafting them into my original fixtures. That operation worked out fine. The lights are much brighter than the original bulbs with a much whiter light. Also they present a much lower load on the RV voltage converter/battery. They consume about 1/8 the energy of the old bulbs and are much brighter. These would be great in a new installation but you might have to MacGyver them to work with already installed lighting. Happy Camper!

Comments
Still working great and still very happy with the lights. I understand that some folks are unhappy that these fixtures have a smaller footprint than their old fixtures. This was my case and using the stock new fixtures would have left unsightly witness marks from the original mounting screws. My solution was to pull the LED panels from the new fixture and graft it into the old fixture. I was then able to use the brighter LED panels in the old incandescent fixture eliminating the witness marks but still enjoying the great benefits of the LED. For me this was not too difficult to do and after developing a plan with the first one, the other eleven were easy to modify maybe 15 minutes each. It is well worth the effort to try. Perhaps only buy one to experiment with to see if this approach would work for you.

I replaced two old lighting fixtures that had incandescent bulbs in them with the subject LED fixtures. The difference in the amount of light is incredible. It is similar to having two 100 watt bulbs. These fixtures are in an 18' enclosed car hauling trailer. They provide enough light to load, unload and work on my race car easily.

Comments
The lights are working just like new. Totally satisfied with their performance and durability.

Awesome in every way, size, light output ect. Used it for additional lighting in my work van. I had done extensive research and chose this one with no regrets !!!

These lights are excellent. I replaced the incandescents in my pop-up camper with them. The are way brighter and will save power when running on battery. I also put the dual version in the center for even more light. They are a little shorter than the ones I took out, so your wiremold could be a little short. That wasn't the case with mine because of the center light. I just had to remove and cut a couple pieces to fit. I highly recommend these as an upgrade to your camper interior lights. Happy Camping! The best led lights ever. Very bright, great for reading, doing puzzles, or whatever. Not the same size as your original, I bought some plastic plugs from Hobby Lobby to fill holes that exposed on my ceiling. Looks good. Easy installation snip 2 wires, scotch clip the the white @ black wires, turn on the power. Perfection

- RVILL34
by:

The 815 Lumens these 18 diode lights offer are certainly worth the money. Removing the plastic covers on each fixture is problematic with this design but with a little ingenuity I overcame that. Very satisfied!

- RVILL34
by:

arrived in a timely manner in good condition. Replaced 5 lamps WOW so much brighter than the originals. Also, much lower amperage draw as my converter fan no longer runs even with all 5 of the fixtures on!

- RVILL34
by:

This works really well in the bedroom of my trailer putting out twice the brightness as the original 12v filament bulb did. This light isn't fancy or anything and when you turn it on both sides come on but I am very happy with the illumination it gives. I have another one on the way.

- RVILL34

Thank you for receiving my order so fast, I’ve ordered lights led lights from y’all before so I know that these lights will work just as good as the others, thank you

by:

This was a fine addition to my travel trailer. I replaced all my existing lights that came with the camper. I now have over double the light and less than a third the heat that normal bulbs produce. Great product and as always with etrailer prompt reliable service.

- RVILL34
by:

These lights were a direct replacement for the OEM lights. Simple to install - as expected. After 1 year, they are still going strong. The spectrum is slightly more white than the original bulb and still very natural looking.

by:

These things are awesome !!! Installed 2 of these in my 12 ft. cargo trailer. It's like daylight in there now! I liked them so much I'm ordering 7 more for my camper. If you haven't made the switch to LED lighting, it's time. They put out a lot better light, generate less heat, and use less power. I think they are well worth the money.

- RVILL34

The new lights in my camper are so much better and brighter than the standard ones in the camper. Just a wonderful transition for my camper and etrailer.com was easy to use and delivered exactly what and when they said. Thank you!

Easy to install our trailer is 10 years old so LED light is much brighter.

If you are looking for an interior light to use in your 7x14 enclosed trailer I recommend taking a look at the Buyers Products LED Dome Light. I have had a chance to inspect these lights and they are extremely high quality. The metal backing plate and the lens face have a very durable and well made feel to them. We can definitely help get you going in the right direction with how to do the wiring as well as parts you may need. For the most part on the trailer it will be running a power wire like part # 10-1-1 (sold by the foot) to all of the light assemblies and then another wire for the ground.
