Hi, everybody. Andy here with etrailer.com. And today, we're gonna take a brief look at this Valterra deadbolt lock for RVs. Now, this deadbolt is going to help protect your RV from intruders and provide you an additional piece of mind. This single cylinder is keyed on one side as we saw already. And so, you can lock and unlock from the outside with the included keys, and from the inside with this built-in thumb latch.
Now, this is going to be an easy, universal installation. And you're just going to use the included strike plate for the standard installation. And then you can remove this faceplate for the drive-in installation. And as you can see, I have this kind of loosely put together just to kind of give you an idea of what it's going to look like when you have everything together. This is going to fit 1 3/8 inches to 1 3/4 inches thick RV doors with a 2 3/8 inch from center of face hole to leading edge of door.
The throw bolt thickness is 5/8 of an inch and the stainless steel construction is gonna be durable and attractive. And this, as I mentioned already, includes two keys along with the instructions and the hardware that you are going to need to successfully install this on your door. We purchased the Valterra deadbolt lock for our camper which is a park model. The lock works great even though we had to use the old latch as the new one was a bit too short, the cylinders fit perfectly to it.

Easy to Install and works well. Wish keys could have been keyed alike with dead bolt keys.

Added these to an old trailer for added security work great easy to install
These were pretty much a bolt in! I had one deadbolt that required opening the hole in the door frame just because the new deadbolts had a longer throw. Overall im very happy, I can now lock my camper up tight.
Great value product. Wish these were available in keyed alike pairs.
Added this bar lock to the side door on my 6X10 Wells Cargo enclosed trailer. Easy installation and it works great. Fit is a bit snug, but it has not been a problem. Some aluminum shims under the hinges would provide a looser fit, but really not necessary. Price is a fraction of what it would have cost to get this bar lock from the trailer manufacturer. This lock provides a substantial increase in security for the trailer and is really well built.

The Deadbolt Lock for RVs is appropriate for a thinner RV door and appears to be of good quality. The installation instructions; however, are not good. They describe installing the lock into wooden doors and door jambs. RVs have metal frames and composite surfaces, so no faceplate or mortise is needed. The template is also useless; just careful measuring from the latch face to the 2 3/8" center hole is needed. Apart from poor instructions, the deadbolt greatly improves the security of our trailer door and etrailer is a good vendor to work with.

They are OK, showing premature wear in my opinion as the vehicle is only used 6 times a year
