What's up everybody. It's AJ with etrailer.com. Today, we're going to be checking out this replacement screen door latch from JR Products. It's going to be an easy part to put on and replace. These aren't too difficult to break. I can imagine kids hanging on it, or messing with it or slamming the door too hard.
And if this breaks, then your door just kind of comes open and closes as it pleases. You can easily fix that. Let's check it out. Take a closer look at it here. It operates really simply just push down on this lever.
The tab goes in and then opens the door. You can even push it closed without pulling down the lever. You can see it's kind of tapered there, so you can easily just push it. I'll go behind there, not a whole lot of effort. I didn't have to push very hard.
I can do it with one finger. It goes right into place. So that's going to be good. If you're carrying a bunch of stuff in here, you just need to kind of bump it with your elbow or whatever. It's not going to take much just to latch in place and close it.
There's also a tapered spot here on the back of the handle. That's just going to make it really easy to close it and put it with the catch there. You see, I didn't have to touch it or lower this. Goes right into place. And now the screen door is attached to the door and out of the way. That was going to be a direct replacement for your Amerimax right-handed handle. It's really easy to install it. Didn't take us that long to replace them, check out how we did it. Something to think about before you start installing though, I want to make sure you get the right latch for your door. There's going to be two different styles. There's Amerimax. That's this one here. Then there's going to be Phillips. That's this one here. Now the difference is going to be is the Amerimax it's center-to-center bolt spacing is going to be three inches. And then on the Phillips, it's going to be 2.3 inches in between the two holes. So just want to make sure you get the right one for your door. You don't have to drill any extra holes if you don't have to. Another thing to think about is, do you need a left-handed one or a right-handed one We have right-handed variants today of both. They also have left-handed ones on our website, if you need those instead. First thing we're going to need to do is remove the old latch. You're just going to go up here and make sure you get the right tool for it. We have square bolts in here today. We're just going to back those out. Set that hardware aside. And repeat the process up here. You can just remove the old one. I'll come back and add our new one into place. So it just lines up with the holes there. We're actually, on second thought, going to use the hardware that came with this new one, because the old hardware was a little enlarged and they just went ahead and installed it anyway. We're going to keep this one looking a little nicer. So we're going to install with the hardware they gave us. So this time we're gonna use a Phillips screwdriver to run that screw in, but still keep it kind of loose. We're not going to go super tight we want to make sure it latches properly. So just going to get it started because it is a slotted hole, so you can move it side to side where it needs to be. So we're going to just kind of loosely do it for now and give it a test before we tighten it fully. Now I left it loose just for this instance. You see how it's not even close to catching there, but since it's slotted, you can push it over so that's going to be behind that catch and the door won't open. So I'm just going to push it in and tighten those down to keep it in place. So right there, it catches now so he doesn't come out until I pull that latch. Now this is the part of the installation where we replace the catch here, but this one's fine. It's not damaged. This would be the new one you would get. And you see the holes are a little bit different. And since this isn't staying on this rig today, we're not going to make new holes in the door, but just wanted to show you what it would look like. This is the new one that would come with it, and you want to line that up with your latch, but this one's going to work just fine. So we're just going to leave it in place. It also comes with the door latch that you can add into the inside of your doorframe, but ours already has one built into the doorframe here. So we don't need to replace it or install it. It works just fine. But it really is that easy to install the new latch for your door. It's not going to take you a lot of time to get that installed, as you saw me do it, and it just keeps it working nice and your screen door will operate properly. Well thanks for hanging out and hope this helps..
Great experience shopping with y’all. Thanks
Everything worked perfect. Like always.
As soon as I received the product I put it on and fit perfect.
Thanks for the fast service.
Showed up just fine. I wish I had known the difference between right and left hand latch. I got the wrong Side but it works fine anyway.
Perfect match for the old one it replaced, on our 2006 Forest River motorhome. Looks sturdy, should last a long time.
Delivery was quick. Although when I received the awning it was missing the drive side head cover and the toggle switch.
This product was an exact replacement for the broken part, therefore installation was easy.
I entered the Winnebago item number on you website and it showed this item. I had to make serversl modifications to get it working properly but it does seem to work. Spent at least two hours on the installation.
Works Great I have NEVER been disappointed in any product I have bought from etrailer. I open the box and I knew it was the right part and would worked. I took a Cross tip point and placed in my drill and fasten to my door. works great, Thank You
Works great. I haven’t broken it yet as I am hard on things apparently. A good sturdy latch that can be used in either direction I believe. Looks beefy and clean. Thanks etrailer :)

Product has been top notch for a door lock and latch. Also there is a deadbolt that locks firm. Haven’t had any problems with rattling or and loosening of integral parts. Very happy with purchase.
Just right replacement!
Oh my goodness. I bought a horse 2006 trailer that had a tack room with a screen door. The latch was broken and I thought I would never find a replacement part. Well, I luckily did! Super happy etrailer.com had exactly what I needed! Fast shipping too!
Thank you so much??
