The TracRac TracONE Ladder Rack w/ Cantilever gives you the reach and support to haul long materials like ladders or lumber without worrying about overhang. The included cantilever extension adds 32" of extra length over the cab, creating a continuous support system front to back. The ladder rack carries up to 800 lbs, while the cantilever extension supports up to 1,000 lbs. That strength means you can load heavy gear with confidence and keep it stable on the road.
Mounting the rack is quick thanks to its clamp-on design. The included aluminum U-channel kit and specially designed clamps secure the rack to the bed rails—no drilling required. Each upright base is held by two heavy-duty clamps that tighten down for a solid connection. When you need more bed space, the system removes easily to give you a more compact setup.
The elliptical crossbars are built with slots along the top and bottom so you can mount and adjust accessories exactly where you need them. Four heavy-duty aluminum load stops come with the rack and slide in the channels to keep ladders, planks, or pipe locked in place. The built-in airfoil strips reduce drag and stop the wind from whistling through the bars while you’re driving.
Each part of the rack is made from 6000-series aluminum that’s strong, durable, and rustproof. The silver dual-stage powder coat—first an e-coat, then a clear coat—offers extra protection against corrosion, scratches, and scuffs. Because aluminum is lighter than steel, the rack doesn’t eat into your payload, yet it’s tough enough for everyday work use.
A streamlined shape keeps wind noise low, and the internal web structure of the crossbars adds rigidity without extra weight. Each upright has a wide base for stability, so the rack stays firm even under heavy loads. With crossbars sitting 26-1/4" above the bed rails, you get the clearance you need for hauling tall cargo or mounting overhead gear.

It does sound like you are not happy with the rack. I did reach out to Thule about it. The cantilever is made with an angle to it to help with the support of a heavy load. It is designed that way to help absorb any flexing that might happen. The Trac Rac for the 2009 Toyota Tacoma does not come with side cleats that would give you additional tie down points to help prevent the load from moving however you can use the cargo buckles part # TH28500XT to accomplish the same goal.
