Thule T2 Pro

The Thule T2 Pro XTB platform-style bike rack lets you carry 4 bikes using your vehicle's hitch. It is designed to carry bicycles of varying sizes and styles, and it can hold bikes with fat tires up to 5" wide. The bike trays adjust to optimize bike spacing and reduce bike-to-bike contact. The ratcheting arms and wheel trays secure your bikes by the wheels so there's no frame contact. The rack installs easily without the need of tools with the AutoAttach system. And the front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows the rack to easily tilt down with bikes loaded for easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area and fold up when not in use. Finally, the rack includes One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle.

Wheel-Mount Design for Easy Bike Loading

Thule T2 Pro ratcheting arms

The rack allows you to quickly and easily load and carry 4 bicycles on the back of your vehicle. The ratcheting arms securely hold your bikes by the front wheels so there's no frame contact. Simply push the button on the hook and slide it firmly into place over your front wheel.

Thule T2 Pro

The wheel hook also has a cutout on the side so it won't interfere with fat bike suspensions.

Sliding Rear-Wheel Cradles

Thule T2 Pro sliding rear-wheel cradles

The sliding rear-wheel cradles allow the rack to accommodate bikes with wheelbases up to 50-1/2" long, and they accommodate tires up to 5" wide. The cradles include ratcheting, rubber straps to hold your bikes' rear wheels securely in place on the tray.

Thule T2 Pro sliding rear-wheel cradles for fat bikes

For fat bikes, the strap needs to be removed from the bottom of the cradle and re-routed up through the side. This increases the usable length of the strap to secure wider tires.

Adjustable Bike Trays

Thule T2 Pro rear wheel cradles

The front and back bike trays adjust 3" side-to-side to ensure you have enough space when loading your bikes. Just loosen the 4 bolts where the tray attaches to the bottom of the rack, slide the trays left or right to achieve the desired spacing, and then tighten the bolts. This will prevent your bikes' handlebars from becoming tangled, and it eliminates the fear of bike-to-bike contact during transport.

Front-Mounted HitchSwitch for Easy Tilting

Thule T2 Pro

The front-mounted HitchSwitch lever allows one person to easily tilt the T2 Pro XTB. The rack tilts down with or without bikes loaded for convenient access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.

Thule T2 Pro

The lever also lets you fold the rack up for storage when you're not transporting a bike. This is great for parking in places where space is limited such as a parking garage.

Easy Installation with AutoAttach System

Thule T2 Pro installation

The T2 Pro XTB installs quickly and easily with the AutoAttach system. Simply open the Auto Pin, slide the shank into your receiver, and close the pin so it slides through the pin hole and shank.

Once installed, turn the hand knob underneath the rack to tighten the shank in your receiver. This will reduce noise and movement while the rack is installed.

Complete Security

Thule T2 Pro locking system

The rack comes with One-Key System lock cylinders to secure your bikes to the rack and the rack to your vehicle. Integrated cable locks extend from the ends of the wheel hooks and wrap around your bikes' frames to lock them to the rack.

Thule T2 Pro locking system knob

The hand knob also comes with a lock cylinder to keep the rack from being removed from your hitch. One-Key System cylinders can be swapped out to make all of your Thule gear keyed alike.

Video Transcript for Thule T2 Pro XTB 4 Bike Rack Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Thule T2 Pro XTB Platform Style 4-Bike Rack, part number TH9034XT-9036XT. That's for the black. Now it's also available in silver, and that's part number TH9034XTS-9036XTS. This platform style bike rack holds up to four bikes of all sizes and styles. We've got a fat tire bike, a mountain bike, a road bike, and a kids bike. It holds your bikes by the front and rear tires.

There is no frame contact. One of it's best features is it has the ability to tilt away with all four bikes loaded, so we can gain access to our rear hatch. The lever is here at the back to make it easy. Simply go up to it, squeeze it, drop it down until it rests. As you can see we've got plenty of space to open up that rear hatch and remove anything we want. It also doubles as a handle, this is going to help us lift our bikes back into position. Each one of our arms here has an integrated cable lock for added security.

I've gone ahead and removed most of our bikes to go over some additional features. Here you can see our rubber-coated ratcheting hook that holds our front tire. It's adjustable for wheel sizes between 20 and 29". Here you can see our front wheel cradle. It's going to accommodate a skinny road bike tire, a standard mountain bike tire, and a fat tire up to 5" wide. Here you can see our adjustable rear wheel cradle.

It's going to accommodate fat tire and standard tire bikes. It's adjustable along the tray for a max wheel base of up to 50 1/2". With all of our bikes removed, another great feature is it has the ability to fold up against our vehicle for better clearance. Back here we'll use that same lever, squeeze, rotate it up until it snaps into place. Now this would be ideal for parallel parking or pulling in your garage. With it in the upright position, it's the perfect time to point out that each individual platform can be adjusted up to 3" left or right for better bike spacing.

You'll just loosen up the bolts here and here, and the tool is included. Now we'll go ahead and give you a few clearance measurements. The distance from the center of the hitch pin hole to the end of the bike rack is about 60". When you have it folded up it's about 20 1/2". From the center of the hitch pin hole, to the closest part of the rack is 5". It's made out of a durable, steel construction with a powder coat finish so it's going to resist rust and corrosion and it features a limited lifetime warranty. Customers on our site are comparing this to the Kuat NV 2.0 4-Bike Rack. Both are going to be very similar giving you the capability to secure four bikes with no frame contact, and both have integrated cable locks. They both tilt away from the vehicle with bikes on, but the Kuat release lever is near the vehicle, where the Thule T2 Pro XT release lever is located at the back of the rack. Considering how heavy a fully-loaded rack may be, this makes for an easier time tilting the bike rack while loaded. Now that we've gone over the features, I'll go ahead and show you how to get it installed. Now this is going to be for 2" by 2" hitches. It does weight 96 pounds, so if you need to get an extra set of hands, that's okay. First off we want to make sure that our auto pin is in the out position. Now this auto pin does make it a tool free installation. With it out, let's go ahead feed our shank into our receiver tube. Then we can line up our pin holes. Once we got those lined up, we'll go ahead and push our auto pin back in. Then we can come back here to our hand knob and then tighten it up. We're just going to be turning it clockwise. This is going to tighten up the inside of our shank and our receiver tube to make a nice, solid ride for our bikes. It's going to reduce any play or rattle that we might have. Once we get it nice and secure, we can take our included keys and lock it up. By doing so, it's going to allow it to spin freely so no one can loosen it up. In preparation for loading up our bikes, we'll need to lower it down into the platform position. We'll come up here to our handle, we'll pull up on the gray lever, and then lower it down until it clicks into position. We can also fold up inaudible 00:04:40 arm and raise it all the way up. Then we can undo our rear strap. Since we're going to be loading up a fat tire bike first we'll need to take it completely out and reconfigure it. We'll take off the pad here. Then I'm going to push it and pull it all the way out. Then I'm going to come back in from the open side here, and pull it all the way up, and put my pad back on. As you can see it's a lot longer, this is what's going to make it happen. Now let's load up our bike. I'm going to set the front tire into position first, into the large cradle up here. Then I'll set the rear tire into the rear cradle. Here in the front we're going to secure our front wheel first. We'll raise up our arm, and we want to position it right in front of our brake caliber here, or in front of our fork, whatever comes first. Then once it makes contact, we'll give it a good push. Then we can move on to our rear cradle. I'm going to adjust it out to where it's center, and I'll adjust my wheel so I can go between my spokes, guide my strap through, come through the ratchet, and then ratchet it down. The rest of our bikes load up the exact same way. The only difference being, we don't have to reconfigure our rear cradle strap. With all of our bikes loaded up, the last thing we can do is run our cable locks. The way this works is, we'll pull the cable out, then I'll take off the head, I'll guide the cable between the frame, then I'll just plug it in. Then we can grab our keys and lock it up. With everything locked up and secure, we're ready to take it out on our test course and see how it performs. Here on our test course we'll first go into our slalom. This is going to show side to side action, such as going around corners or evasive maneuvering. Then onto our alternating speed bumps. This is going to show a twisting action, such as going over pot holes or uneven pavement. Then finally onto our solid speed bumps. This is going to show and up and down action, such as pulling in and out of a driveway, or out of a parking lot. That's going to complete our look at the Thule T2 Pro XT 4-Bike Rack.

Ok, I know it may seem expensive, but this rack is great. (When you figure your carrying close to 10 grand in bikes it's worth the piece of mind.) Carries all of our family bikes, from two 29ers, a 26 inch and the boys 20 inch bike with simple adjustments. In fact I switch from kids bikes to all 29ers all the time. No more stopping on the side of the road to adjust bikes on a frame rack. Bikes on and off the rack in seconds. Only drawback is the rack itself is heavy. 585726

We love this bike rack! It is sturdy and roomy! The only downside is finding a place to store it when it is not on the car. 400115

Excellent quality rack. Had to reorder as my wife backed the original one in to a gas station pole. So ordered a new one and got the 2-bike extension as well. Heavy, sturdy, and high quality. The instructions are pictures only, no words. For the main rack they are okay, for the extension they are a bit fuzzy on removing the handle for transfer to the end of the extension. Essentially you unscrew the middle screw until it feels disengaged. You can't see since it's internal and the screw does not come out. Then removing the screws on the sides releases the handle. They try to picture how to position the screw before putting the handle on which is where it could use some words or better pictures. Basically it needs positioned to both clear the handle house and the tab in the handle where the center screw will attach to. So really trying to hid the screw as much as possible in the block that it's in. It makes sense once you have it apart. Rack is easy to insert and remove from the hitch but maybe a little awkward and heavy for some ladies. Love this rack! 522972

This bike rack is extremely sturdy. Even when driving on rough roads or over bumps you don‘t have to worry about anything rattling or falling off. It is easy to use and handles any size bike. On the downside the rack is quite heavy so can be hard to put on or take off for short people. Also the rear tire straps are too short for fat tire bikes. Installing and taking off the add-on can be a chore and is not something you want to do every day. 615893

Excellent product. Install was simple. No written instructions. Just pics. Use all of the bolts when you put the extension on, my buddy brought the same rack and only put two screws in the bottom side. Drove over 700 miles Like that with 3 bikes and no failure... Impressive The Allen screws strip easily so don't over tighten with power tools. Holding the bikes with no touching was a breeze. Looked at this as a life time investment. Will never have to buy another rack based on what i.e. Seen so far. Loads bikes quickly. Tilts down and allows plenty of room for loading up the Honda Odessy. Although I wouldnt make it a habit due to the weight when loaded...it's heavy..Does drag just a touch on inclines when the van is fully load..4 bikes.. 4 people and cargo for a week trip. Can't complain about that. Van drove like it was nothing on the back when loaded..does add 5 feet in length. You'll need two parking spots at rest stops. 563151

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This is a great rack and simple to assemble. Very convenient to just throw bikes on and go. The only negative is that the box had a huge hole in it when I received it and the rack was all chipped up and scratched. I’m assuming that was caused by UPS during shipping. 653963

Much better than the typical bike racks that "hang" your bikes. Quite easy to load bikes and holds them very securely, with minimal chance for damage to frames, fenders, etc. Rack is quite heavy and probably not all that easy for some people of smaller stature to attach to the vehicle. It's also fairly large and storage when it's off the vehicle could pose a challenge. Did a lot of research before choosing this rack and firmly believe it to be an optimal choice, although in the case of a Jeep Wrangler it doesn't allow the rear door to be opened when the bikes are loaded onto the rack. 500565

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I was hesitant to spend almost $500 on a bike rack, but it was worth it. I've used trunk bike racks for years, which take a long time to mount and dismount, and I'm never comfortable on the highway with them. This rack is NOT like that. It's solid as a rock, easy to use, and I didn't worry for one second about my bikes driving on the I-95 corridor yesterday and today. The only downside to this rack, as a previous reviewer pointed out, is that the assembly instructions, which are only pictures, are frustrating and funny all at the same time. I watched a video online on the assembly and it was very easy with that help, but I'm not sure I would have figured it out solely on the instructions in the box. But even then, I had it assembled and on my 2018 Highlander with the bikes in about an hour. The hitch mount is superb - the "snugging" knob has the dual function of removing an movement of the rack in the hitch AND it locks, so that once it's tightened up in the hitch, it can't be removed. The rack itself is very solid and handles my wife's 50-pound electric bike with no problem. I put my road bike on with it, which is an easy fit. I haven't tried my MTB, but the rack is so adjustable that I can't imagine there will be a problem. Thanks to this rack, my wife went on a bike ride with me this morning for the first time in years because we were able to go to a nice trail (she doesn't like to ride on the streets around our neighborhood. I also tried out the cable locks this morning and they are very easy to use and a nice added feature. Some previous reviewers complain that the cables aren't very secure, but they seem pretty solid to me; certainly enough of a deterrent to prevent a quick snag by a thief walking by the vehicle. Best of all, this was the best price on this rack that I found anywhere on the internet! I purchased my hitch from etrailer and this bike rack - I'm very happy with both. 646818

Great product. Easy assembly. Sturdy construction. Looks great on vehicle. Easily carries my wife's and my bike with plenty of separation. Bikes load easily and securely. The wedge design that secures bike rack in receiver is awesome. Slide rack into receiver turn knob and wiggle rack as wedge tightens. Over great design. Thanks Thule you have done your home work. 514976

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I Purchase of the 2018 Thule TR Pro with the Black Finish. I am very impressed with the overall design and stout construction. This is my first bicycle Rack that I have ever purchased. I assembled the Rack after installed the rack frame to the hitch of my 2018 Toyota Tacoma. I was VERY impressed with the internal locking system after placing the rack into the 2" x 2" hitch. After assembly I then loaded our Two BICYCLES . With the rack loaded with our two adult bicycles and temporarily lowered to the 4 or 8 o'clock position; and the inside Bicycle pedal in the 12 o'clock position. I am free to lower the tailgate of the pick-up and gain access to the covered truck bed of my Tacoma. The loading of the bicycles seems relatively easy. Just for an added level of load security I am going to incorporate a lower security strap to the front wheel hitches supporting baskets. And take the tail end of the strap and do a quick "Hitch" to the "Sheppard's Crook" that locks down at the top of the front wheel. Looking forward to some new places to Ride. Regular "free Shipping was fine to my home in 3 working days + the weekend. 509768

Installation pictures could have used words, but managed. The 8 mm bolts for attaching the platforms to the frame were binding, so I cleaned with a die and this made connection possible. Need to make a trip with bikes attached for further review. 414640

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I purchased an Ecohitch Class III hitch, and Thule T2Pro XTB bike platform for my 2017 Subaru Outback Limited. I did the entire assembly and installation in about 3 hours, one afternoon, with very limited assistance from my wife. The hardest part of the entire process was figuring out how to disconnect the connector for the backup sensors, and cutting the hole for the hitch receiver in the bumper fascia. The video was absolutely priceless to show how the little plastic pieces held the fascia together, and how they could be detached. I think that I might buy some new ones because they are not quite as tight when installed the second time. It was not clear from the Thule instructions, but it is helpful to have the hitch installed before putting the bike platform together, because the hitch can get the platform up in the air, and make the assembly a lot easier. I also found that the security cable was could be lengthened a bit, but it still fit, once I figured that the plastic piece was intended to be detached from the arm when it was serving as a lock. This is a very substantial structure to add to the back of the vehicle. I really like the Ecohitch, and the way that it is concealed behind the bumper. This makes it worth the extra money. The Thule is heavy, but now I don't have to lift the bikes up on top of the roof, which is difficult for us mature people with bad shoulders. And our bikes don't have a traditional top-tube, so we needed something that could hold the bikes by the wheels alone. All-in-all a good purchase, easy to install, and it looks like it will work well. I also plan to use the hitch to pull a small trailer, and it looks like that should work well, too. 476519

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

Love this rack! We have logged thousands of driving miles in the last year while taking our bikes to various rallies. We upgraded to this rack from a yakima hanging rack. I much prefer supporting bikes from the bottom which avoids any potential issues with cable stretch and bikes knocking into each other. This rack also provides much better visibility when driving (both unloaded and loaded). 561865

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This is an excellent bike rack. It is easy to use, looks good, and hold the bikes very securely. No bouncing or rubbing at all. The lock cables are really handy to thwart casual thieves, but they really should be longer - it would make them easier to use. You can really only loop them through your frame front triangle. It is really easy to fold up and down with the handle on the end of the boom. The plastic locking knob to tighten the hitch to the rack is a little disappointing. It is under the vehicle and I will have to see how well it holds up to gravel spray from miles of gravel roads. It would have been nice to see metal parts in that area. You do have to assemble the rack. It is not that hard, but you do have to follow the instructions, which are good, but not great. My box/bag was missing a single washer, which I replaced with a silver one from my spare parts bin. The allen head bolts that hold the cradle and arms to the beams are very soft material, and it is easy to bung up the shallow allen head if you're not careful. In combination with the Draw-Tite hitch on my 2018 Subaru Outback, when folded up, the cradle of the inner holder is only a quarter inch or so from the end gate. It doesn't and can't actually touch, but it is close. The upside is that it folds very nicely against the back of my car, allowing me to close the garage door with the rack on and folded. And I can't even see the rack from inside the vehicle when folded. All-in-all an excellent rack. Give it some better hardware and longer lock cables and it would be nearly perfect. 440266

This rack is as good as advertised. I did a ton of research and selected this over the more expensive Kuat. If I had to nitpick on this rack it would be the weight, it's pretty heavy. 344369

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This is the most convenient and easy to use bike rack I've ever owned. Love everything about it. I've used it for one year now. I use it mainly for a 27.5 PLUS mountain bike, but I've used it for road bikes, non-PLUS mountain bikes and cruisers. I use it on 2013 Hyundai Sonata. My only issue I have is that the car rides low and sometimes the back of the rack scrapes on dips. But that isn't a rack issue--just a fact about having this rack on a car. Overall great purchase. 503860

Our second Thule T2, one 1 1/4", this one 2". After various Yakima and Thule hitch receiver bike racks, this beats them all. Ease of attachment to car, ease of mounting bikes, ability to lock rack and bikes, nothing else compares. etrailer purchase was quick and easy, as usual. 426632

Review: Draw Tite Class III Trailer Hitch/Draw Bar Purpose: Bicycle Carrier - Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack - 2" Hitches - Tilting - Black Vehicle: 2013 Honda CR-V My wife decided on the Thule T2 Pro XTB 2 Bike Platform Rack to haul 2 bicycles with on the rear of her 2013 Honda CR-V. An internet search brought me to etrailer.com. What a terrific Website! I purchased the Draw Tite Class III hitch. The choice was unequivocal after watching the outstanding customer installation video's on the website, the reviews by others who've done the install, and most of all the pictures that were on-line which has prompted me to add to the reviews with pics of my installation to help others. The cost was a very affordable. It arrived in less than 4 or 5 days in perfect condition and complete with all the hardware. The instructions are straightforward, but not detailed enough to show exactly where to make the cut in the protective plastic under panel since I wanted to keep the panel intact. The pics speak for them selves, and the video's and other reviews will give enough information on how to install the hitch, so no need to repeat there here. I used an oscillating multi-tool to make the cuts which took less than a minute to accomplish. The hardest part of this was making sure of WHERE to make the cut. I didn't take measurements like the others. Instead, I looked at the pics from other installations, picked the best ones that showed where to make the cut, printed it out on an 8x10 piece of paper and placed in right on the panel I was about to cut! There are manufacturing marks in the plastic and ridges in it. I just duplicated the picture (my pics also show the same thing) marked it with a pencil and cut it on the recommended 3 sides. Don't cut out a chunk like the instructions say to do! I trimmed the material attached to it on the inside so that the flap, and placed it back on the car with 2 screws to hold it in approximate position while I mounted the hitch (per the video). When it came time to thread the bolts into the frame, I just pushed the flap in, stuck my hand in there and threaded the bolts in place. Very easy. Tightening the bolts required a long extension for the torque wrench, but not a big deal. To secure it, I drilled some holes and installed tie wraps. I still need to put some 3M 4200 or 5200, or some RTV on it to seal the spaces. There is only one thing I miscalculated, and it's evident in the pictures. There is a 'gap' of about 1/4 in the flap behind the steel mounting plate. I should NOT have trimmed the whole flap until after the hitch was installed, but I did it beforehand allowing for 1/4 to accommodate the steel hitch hanger. I could have trimmed it to an exact fit after the hitch was tightened in place. To fix that, I will use some 4200 I have laying around and do a gap-fill by laying a big bead of it on a piece of duct tape and sticking it in place. I'll also put some around where the hitch protrudes through it to seal it off against dirt and water, etc. Hope this helps. By the way, I took my time on the install. I spend over 2 hours doing it, but there is a learning curve. I could do another one in half the time since I now know how to do it. *** George at etrailer.com has been extremely helpful with follow-up emails and offers of help if needed. They are a fantastic company and I would highly recommend them to anyone wishing to purchase anything from them! Thank you etrailer.com! 430310

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This is a great bike rack that is easy to load bikes onto. I get a lot of compliments on how tough it is. I've had it for almost 4 months now and have got plenty of use with it. etrailer is a great site to purchase from. I also bought a tow hitch that worked out perfectly. The only problem I had with the rack was that the squeeze/handle doesn't catch anymore. So I can't lower the rack. In contact with Thule to see what can be done to fix. T Hopefully it is a minor fix, so I can get back to loading bikes. :) 433659

I thought it was pricey for a bike rack until I used it. Best bickering rack I've ever seen. Super user friendly! My wife has No Trouble using it without me. Worth every penny! Everything I order from this Etrailer website has been better than I expected. I'm Most Pleased. 522144

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

This hitch was installed on my 2015 Subaru Forester 2.5i Limited. The website is fantastic and makes finding the correct products for your vehicle very easy. The hitch arrived in only a few days and came complete with all the necessary installation accessories. The hitch comes with fish wire for the frame bolts so you don't need to fuss with buying fish wire. Some reviews stated that you can go in from the inside of the vehicle but this is totally unnecessary and more work. Just follow the instructions, with exception of the muffler heat shield. You can drill 1/2" holes through the heat shield in the dimpled areas corresponding to where the instructions tell you to cut out the heat shield (see some of the other reviews for more detail on this). These holes allow you to securely fasten the heat shield over the hitch using the hitch bolts. Make sure you have a torque wrench and an 11/16" deep socket to tighten the frame bolts. I would also recommend removing the muffler which is very simple. Lube the muffler mounts with WD-40 to facilitate the removal of the muffler. You will save at least $300 installing this yourself. 485073

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I am very happy with this bike rack. Bicycles load and unload easily and quickly, and feel very secure. The cable-lock on the front arm is nice, but as it only secures the front wheel, I use additional bike locks if security is an issue. The bike rack itself is very secure and I like the way it locks in place as well. I also purchased two Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 inch, Code numbers 78690 and 75225. One is for a 2017 Honda Pilot, and the other is for a 2005 Honda CRV. All items were received in less than a week. Installation was a breeze on the Pilot, as there are nuts already welded in the frame to receive the hitch. The installation on the CRV was more complicated because there are no such nuts, and the muffler is in the way. The online instructional videos are excellent, and well worth viewing--especially for the CRV. Since I don't have a cold chisel, I used a small Dremmel grinder to enlarge the hole. I was looking for a hitch that would work on both cars and a motorhome, and this is excellent. I toggled through several on the web site and settled on this one because, even though it cost more, it would more simple to raise and lower by all family members to gain access to the back of the car with bikes in place. My only complaint is that it is not really compatible with the older CRV with the wheel mounted on the back of the car. It is perfectly fine with bikes mounted, but the larger front wheel basket on this rack does not clear the spare wheel on the right side when folded up. A front wheel basket with less of a profile might work. I also considered cutting off the interfering part of the basket so that it could fold up to the locked position, but I don't know how important that part is. I will use the rack for awhile first. 554081

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

I spent some time researching which bike rack to get before I settled on the Thule. I have a limited range of motion in both of my arms, so ease of operation (raising and lowering the bike rack; moving it out of the way, so I could open the back "gate" on my car); and being able to easily lift and mount my bike onto the rack, were most important to me. The more I used the bike rack, the easier it was to operate. I am extremely pleased with my bike rack. Another feature that I really like, is that it has a self contained internal locking system, which means I no longer have to have an additional lock to take with me when I travel with my bike. The one thing that I did not consider was backing up my vehicle down an incline with the bike rack attached. This is the one draw back. While backing down a driveway on an incline, the bottom protruding end scrapes and digs down into the street. We now have a permanent hole/depression, in the street immediately in front of the garage, made by the bike rack. My daughter has the same type of vehicle and has a Kuuat bike rack and does not have this problem. This is the only complaint that I have about my bike rack. Other than that, it is great!! 524990

After placing my order online the product arrived 1 day earlier than what was originally indicated. The box was in good condition. The bike rack was exactly as expected. Total assembly of the rack took about 15 minutes just because I added additional Loc-Tite to the other bolds that did not actually require them (for overly secure measure). I purchase through eTrailer whenever possible. 518313

Review from a similar Thule T2 Pro XT in Hitch Bike Racks

Overall, this is a great bike rack. Solid build, versatile and attractive. I love being able to angle the rack down so I can open the rear hatch on my Outback. Be aware that fork mounted bottle cages can interfere with the arm that secures the front wheel. Cages are easy to remove, so no big deal. Also, I have issues with the strap that secures the rear tire. It takes a lot of pressure to press in the tab to release the strap when taking the bike off. I usually have to use both thumbs. Perhaps I'm cranking it down more than necessary, causing extra tension. This part of the rack also seems like it could be the weakest link. I can see it wearing out and breaking at some point, but so far so good. Aside from that, I'm happy with my purchase. 646753

I just finished the installation of my new bike rack, and will take it for a long ride starting tomorrow (will provide my feedback once I am back). I just have one question: I have an extra key ; looks like an uncut key, and I cannot find any use for it. Any insights here? I do have the three locks and each one came with a key (different key number from the extra one). Not a real issue - just curious! 612952

Comments

he key blank you received is called a change key. Its used to remove the lock core if you ever wanted to change the locks. With the lock unlocked, youd the change key, and twist and pull. The core would come out. If you use the provided link, you can see how the key works.

Amazing price. Took a while to ship, but was worth it. Installed by myself and I take it off and put it on with proper lifting technique. The handle is worth every penny for this model to lift when the bikes are off. If you have a carrier with a pin at the bottom and you need to unpin to lift and a pain, this is the best you can use. 610042

This is one amazing trailer hitch! I have a carbon fiber hybrid bike and this rack puts zero stress on the frame. The best thing I like about the rack is how quickly I can put it on the car and have my bike ready to go. Yes, it's slightly heavy but for the average person it shouldn't be a problem lifting. I've had this bike rack for exactly 1 year now and have gotten quite a bit of use out it and have zero complaints... 609476

  • Do Arms on Thule T2 Pro XTB 4 Bike Platform Rack Lock Into Place when Not In Use
  • The arms on the Thule T2 Pro XTB 4 Bike Platform Rack # TH9034XT-9036XT don't have a lock per se but they also won't move when they are down. It requires enough force to move the arms that just normal driving around cannot move the arms. I have never heard of an issue with this bike rack where the arms have moved out of position.

  • Availability of 4 Bike Rack for Use on an RV
  • I am guessing by RV you mean camper or 5th wheel trailer. If this is the case then I recommend using the Lets Go Aero BikeWing T4 # B01458. This is compatible with up to 4 bikes and has a weight capacity of 160 lbs. It isn't a traditional platform rack but it does secure the bikes by their wheels so there is no frame contact. This bike rack has tilting and folding features plus you can remove the outer 2 trays if you will only be carrying 2 bikes. The BikeWing T4 doesn't come with locks...

  • Best Way To Carry Bikes Cross Country on a 2018 Subaru Forester
  • The hands down best way to carry bikes on your 2018 Subaru Forester is with a hitch mounted bike rack. This of course will also require that you have a trailer hitch installed but it will allow for the most amount of bikes to be carried as well as the largest selection of bikes to be choose from. Basically, you don't have to worry about the bike being too heavy, having fenders, or an alternative frame like you would for a roof bike rack or trunk bike rack. It will also be the easiest option...

  • Swagman XTC4 Bike Rack Will Not Fold Up on 2011 Toyota Sienna with Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Installed
  • I have a solution for you but first a little background information. The 5 inch clearance measurement for the Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 75237 was taken on a 2015 Toyota Sienna. We haven't had a 2011 in to install this hitch and take that measurement. Another thing is the Swagman XTC4 that you also purchased, # S64665, is only 3-1/2 inches from the center of the pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier when it is folded up. So even if the measurement had been exactly 5 inches it still...

  • You can use the Curt fat tire adapter part # C18091 on the Pro Series bike rack part # PS63138 to accomodate a fat bike like you have. Now for a USA made option the best option is the Thule T2 part # TH9034XT-9036XT which is expandable and designed for fat tire bikes as well. This rack only will touch your bikes at the tires too which means it will protect any delicate frame materials or finishes. I attached a review video...
