Video Transcript for Review of Draw-Tite Heavy Duty Receiver Hitch - Mounting Brackets - 4916

Hello everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're gonna take a look at the 16 inch Mounting Bracket Kit for the Draw-Tite Class V Service Body Trailer Hitches. Now, these are universal mounting brackets that'll let you mount the trailer hitch cross tube to the frame of your heavy-duty or commercial vehicle. These brackets are required for installation of either the Draw-Tite Class V Service Body Hitch part number 41990 or part number 41991, both of those we do sell separately on our website. And just to show you what they look like, there's an insert, showed you the cross tube with the hitch receiver in the middle. Now, I mentioned two part numbers and the difference in those two part numbers is the length, one is 44 inches long, the other is 66 inches long, and as I mentioned, we do carry both of those hitches on our website.

Now, these mounting brackets here, to install them to the vehicle, they are a weld-on or bolt-on installation, and again, just to show you in the insert, there's the cross tube I showed you with these brackets installed, just to show you how they look like when they're ready to install. Basically, the bracket down here has a square cutout that'll slide onto the each end of the hitch cross tube, and then you adjust it along the cross tube to fit the frame width that's needed for your application, and then you weld the mounting bracket to the cross tube, and then after the brackets are welded on, then you can either bolt on with the holes here or weld on these brackets and cross tube to your vehicle's frame. Now, once they are installed, the center of the hitch receiver opening for your hitch will be about 16 inches from the top of the vehicle's frame rail to basically the center of the hitch receiver opening. So basically, what you're doing is this right here will be lined up with the top of the vehicle's frame rail and your tube will be inserted here, so when they say you get a 16 inch drop, I just wanted to show you, we're gonna measure, so if we go from the center of that opening to the very top the bracket right up here, you can see there's your 16 inch drop that you'll be gaining. Now, these do have a nice black powder coat finish to them over an E-coat base to resist corrosion.

Few measurements on the whole bracket itself, the width of the bracket, from this end to this end, is gonna be right at nine inches wide, the overall height from the very bottom of the bracket to the very top of the bracket is gonna be right at 18 1/4 inches tall. But that should do it for the review on the 16 inch Mounting Bracket Kit for the Draw-Tite Class V Service Body Trailer Hitches..

Excellent heavy duty product. As promised and delivered right to the door in a verry short time. Have had lots of product shipped from U.S. but this was the fastest and really liked the paitence the staff had in helping me find the product I needed for my older motorhome. Will be ordering much more from this supplier.

  • Can Weld-on Bracket Kit # 4916 Be Bolted to a Frame
The Weld-on Bracket Kit # 4916 is meant to be welded on meaning the crosstube gets welded to the brackets and the brackets to the frame. The brackets went through a design change and may or may not have holes in them. Either way they are meant to be welded on, not bolted on.

  • RV Hitch Recommendation for a Four Winds Built on a Ford E-350
Since you have an RV there is a solution for installing a hitch, but a custom fit would not work. I spoke to my contacts at Curt and Reese and the only styles of hitches that can be made to fit a RV like yours are multi-fit RV hitches like the # 41990 that has a 16k capacity. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.

Yes, you can install the Draw-Tite Ultra Frame Service Body Trailer Hitch # 41990 upside down. I spoke with my contact at Draw-Tite and he said that the top and bottom portions of the crosstube are identical in terms of construction/steel thickness so this won't be an issue at all. You will just want to make sure that with it mounted in this orientation on your vehicle that you will still have access to the safety chain loops so you can easily attach the chains. • Higher Capacity Trailer Hitch Recommendation for Cutaway Chassis 350 RV
For RV applications it's hard to fit hitches to them as the back of the RVs are all somewhat different and our hitch manufacturers don't go out and fit them all. This is a weld on hitch that would require either the 7 inch drop brackets part # 4907 or the 16 inch brackets part # 4916.
