Hi everyone, it's Evangeline. And today we'll be talking about Rhino-Rack lock cores and keys. These are gonna be for your Rhino-Rack crossbars and we'll take a look at how they work, here at etrailer.com. For your Rhino-Rack accessories, maybe you have a plastic lock core already on there and you wanna upgrade to a metal lock core. Or, maybe you have some metal lock cores but they're not keyed alike, and you want them to all just use one key. That's when you can use the separate lock cores here at etrailer to replace them all.
So here I have lock cores, the master key, and the original key for our Rhino-Rack accessory. So we have this metal core on our end cap. And we're gonna star with unlocking that core, using the original key. With that unlocked, you can use a little, flathead screwdriver to just push that wafer down. And then you can push the entire lock core out.
You can then get your new lock core, with the master key, and then put that up to your accessory, line it up with the ramp, and then start turning. If in doubt, just turn it around until it pushes through. You can now do that with all of your different accessories. Lock them and they're all keyed alike now. So what do you need for your specific situation If you are replacing locks, we have kits that have multiple lock cores, whether it's two or eight or however many you need.
And then you can get that whole pack keyed alike. If you are trying to match your keys, let's say you already have a roof rack and you want your bike rack to match, you can also try to get the numbers to match your original set. I always recommend just getting that full kit right away. That way everything is replaced at the same time. Also, make sure you have your original key.
You will not be able to take out the lock core unless it's in the unlocked position. Otherwise, it's gonna be a little trickier for you.
