This hitch gives you the freedom to pull a trailer, haul gear, or mount a bike rack or cargo carrier. With a 5,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight rating and 500 lbs maximum tongue weight, it’s built for everyday towing and hauling. When used with weight distribution, those capacities increase to 7,500 lbs GTW and 750 lbs TW. This fully welded hitch bolts right to the frame using the included hardware kit—no welding needed. The precision robotic welding ensures everything lines up just right for a clean fit. How bent are we talking, Gavin? The arms/side brackets are actually made of a relatively mild steel so they can flex with the frame, otherwise they would break. This does cause them to get bent in shipping, but if it's only a little off, it can definitely be bent back into shape without any loss of structural integrity. If it is bent enough to crack the paint/powder coat though, we would want to get you a replacement as that is usually more than we are comfortable with. I included an article we have going over this in more detail as well as ways to bend it back into shape.

This can happen from time to time where the side brackets are knocked out of alignment. I know that you used a hammer and were able to install the hitch however we do have a FAQ that can help when this happens.

Well I do see that this hitch will not fit vehicles with a factory installed hitch.

But damage during shipping is very common. Hitches are made to flex during shipping to prevent cracks in the welding. I have a link below for your reference.
