Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

It fit perfectly and the instructions were well written and correct. That doesn’t happen very often. I installed it by myself. I used wood blocks to hold it up while I lined it up and put the nuts on the bolts.

by:

Used a jack to raise it up and ratchet strap to hold up the exhaust. Install took about 1hour solo.

Bolts are seized but the unit is loose and i cant tighten the seized bolts so i just hear the thing rattling. Weld onto the frame if you can

@Jax Hey there, the bolts on a hitch receiver usually don't come loose assuming they were torqued down correctly according to manual's specs. Did you have a shop install this back in 2024? If so, I'd have them look at it and make it right. Otherwise, you can try spraying some penetrating oil a few days in a row to let them soak, then try to tighten the bolts all the way. Only being a year or so old, I wouldn't think the hardware would be unusable. Or maybe they got cross-threaded? that would be a different story :( Either way, sorry you're dealing with that. Rusty/seized bolts are NEVER fun.

Hey neighbor! Install looks great! What are you going to be towing with your hitch?

by:

This is the second Draw-Tite hitch receiver I have purchased from etrailer.com. Just like the last one, this was a good value for the money, was easy to install and does exactly what I needed.

The installation video was spot on. The parts fit exactly to my car.

I recommend etrailer.com to anyone who asks where to get towing accessories.

Also... They have great customer support!

by:
2018 Mazda CX-5

Heavy duty and well designed hitch. Etrailer.com makes this process so easy, they are an impressive company. They have elevated trailer hitch order and install to a science and their videos are second to none. Impressive!

by:

This trailer hitch was, for me, very easy to install. I did not have any special tools but with only hand tools and not even jacking the car up I was able to install it in less than an hour. I did need my daughter to provide an extra set of hands while putting the first bolts in. I was very pleased with the quality of construction and ease of installation. It looks like the hitch came the car when I purchased it new. I would strongly recommend E Trailer.

by:

Installation was straightforward. The hitch is tucked under the bumper so it's unobtrusive. I am happy with it.

by:
2019 Mazda CX-5

Great video, except, you had to undo the install After discovering the rear rubber mounts for the exhaust won’t go on with the hitch installed. Would’ve been better to note that before installing the hitch. ??

by:

The hitch was really easy to install thanks to the videos. Definetly a two person job to get the hitch in place to bolt it in.

easy install instructions, said about 20 minutes for a trained professional.

took me about 40 minutes. I had removed a rubber muffler mount from the frame and could not get it back on after mounting hitch

by:

It took me longer to install because my kids wanted to help, which shows it’s a fairly easy job. Now we are ready for our family road trips. Second time buying from etrailer, perfect fit every time

by:

Couldn't be happier with the purchase. The instructions were easy to read and the quality is superb.

Product Was good and fit perfectly on my car.Installation is super easy as with instructions and videos. This is my first time installing a hitch so initially I struggled as due to lack of help. After a little research and with the help of a friend Installed in 15 Mins(Research and initials trail not counted).Things to remember.
1)Car ramps will help where we can pick from [hardware store].
2)Flat head screwdriver and soap water is super good option for removing Exhaust from hangers.
3)Rubber bushes should be on top hooks and facing front side of the car(Not back side to-wards trunk).
4)Remove one facia screw(plastic clip) for easy adjustment which was not demonstrated in the video but advised in the manual.
5)Better to keep the fish wires of the back bolts to avoid pushing them inside the frame.(C-retention rings will help where manufacturer is not providing).
6)Second person will make the job easy.

Paint Quality is very very poor which is pealing out as mentioned by others in this forum.
Installed my Kuat rack which comes with stabilizer and fits perfect.
yet to test on the roads.

Pics or not so clear.

Let me start with saying etrailer is a great company and this is the second purchase from etrailer and I will definitely be a repeat again and again customer.
I love the detailed vehicle specific installation videos. You really made the job easy.
My most recent purchase from etrailer is the Mazda 2021 cx5 hitch, item number 76138.. I watched the video and took careful notes and the installation was as simple as it could be. Raising the back of the car is the only challenge but that has nothing to do with etrailer.
I had an issue where the installation video shows the anti vibration option. ( basically the second hole in the receiver. ) that was demonstrated on the installation video as well as pictures on the product page. My mistake, I did not check for this extra hole until after I had installed the hitch. Too late to take the hitch off and return for a replacement.
I called etrailer and explained my issue and they were very receptive and never made me feel like it was my mistake. In fact they conceded that was their error. The customer service rep even went as far to research my options and explained to me that there is an additional piece I could buy that would resolve the rattle. He offered to refund me the purchase price of the additional part. All great customer service treatment. My only issue is that I asked if instead of refunding me the amount could they just send me the piece that was equivalent in price to the refund they issued. Unfortunately the billing system at etrailer can not handle this option. So I am a bit disappointed that I would have to pick up the shipping as well as wait for my refund to clear when I feel like etrailer’s system should have just sent me the part. Especially after conceding that it was not as advertised.
Again this has not changed my opinion that the product and customer support at etrailer are second to none.

2018 Mazda CX-5

The hitch looks great! Just like the other reviews, an extrat set of hands to hold the hitch into place really helps! Once the exhaust hangers were removed, the installation went very quick. As per instructions/video/other reviewers...remember to put the rubber hangers back into place on the frame mounts BEFORE putting hitch into place. Now I’m just waiting for my bike rack to arrive and I will be ready to roll!

by:
2020 Mazda CX-5

Went in easy as excepted, did it with the car on the ground. I used a ratchet strap around the exhaust to the springs to hold the exhaust up which worked well Ans it was study enough I could rest the receiver on the muffler. The only hang up was our Mazda had an extra set of holes in the rail and the directions led me to put the bolts in the wrong ones which I didn’t realize until I was holding it up in place cursing at it. Just has to drop it and move the bolts over and it was all fine. With a 1/2” socket with extension I didn’t need a universal to get the bolts tight.

Last cranky bit, I didn’t realize it wasn’t made in the States. It must have been the only one that wasn’t. I would have paid the bit more for it. Supporting American labor. Oh well.

2017 Mazda CX-5

Nice product and install instructions and video were accurate. Just remember to reinstall rubber exhaust hanger prior to installing hitch. Found out hard way can't be done after hitch installed.

by:

Arrived very fast, the box was in good condition but the hitch had a few minor paint chips. Nothing that really worried, installation was very easy and looks great!

by:

After I got put the hitch on I noticed it was slightly crooked. I thought maybe I installed it wrong, but after looking at it the receiver was welded on slightly crooked. Not bad enough to go through the effort to take off and try to return, but in hindsight, I'd make sure it's straight before you put it on.

  • What Is The Best Trailer Hitch Receiver For My 2021 Mazda CX-5?
Absolutely! For your 2021 Mazda CX-5 there are a few different Class III Trailer Hitch options, the Draw-Tite # 76138, the Curt # C13315, the etrailer # e98902, and lastly the # EH68VR. Starting with the similarities each of these hitches has a hidden crosstube meaning that once installed only the receiver itself will be visible as you can see in the included picture. When it comes to differences the EcoHitch is a bit more expensive due to it being made out of recycled materials as you...

So I pulled up an online copy of your owner's manual to see if I can help you make some sense of it. One thing is for sure, the terminology is pretty misleading and can be confusing. The main takeway, I think you need to be concerned with is the gross combined vehicle rating (GCWR). It also talks about the total trailer weight (TTW) or 2,000 pounds but when you read what they define as the TTW it gets too confusing. I think you can simplify it by using the GCWR which the manual states...

I do have a solution for you to carry both of your bikes with your Mazda CX-5 but unfortunately an adapter like part # HTAD isn't the way that I recommend going. Not only does it cut the weight rating of your trailer hitch in half, it will also cause your bike rack to have more movement during travel.
