Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Chevrolet Equinox

Just received today and haven't put on vehicle yet but this is the second order from etrailer for me. The first hitch for my equinox worked great. Purchased this one for my son and I am sure it will be of equal quality. Speedy shipping-received in four days from my saturday late night order. Would always check etrailer.com first.

Thanks!

GREAT VALUE-EASY INSTALLProduct came packaged very well. Install was easy as described. Fishing the final bolt through the frame proved the most difficult for a first timer.

by:
2007 Ford Focus

I just installed this hitch. Have not had a chance to use it yet. But, it went together easily. It took a little longer than 30 minutes just due to the fact I had my son help me and was teaching him some things along the way. Other than that, it looks good to go.

by:

Installation was very easy, on both the hitch and light set up. Shopping was very fast too thanks

by:

Product was just as described. Installed in 30 minutes. Installation video was very helpful.

2007 Honda Pilot

I got the draw tite hitch package for my 2007 Ford Focus ZX3. Fish wiring was kind of a pain, I'd recommend using a slightly larger pilot hole than is recommended in the instructions. Other than that, it was delivered promptly, was easy to install, and generally works great.

by:

easy installation, have used a couple of years now with good results pulling a small boat on a lightweight trailer. totally satisfied!

by:
2004 Ford Focus

The hitch was just as stated, perfect fit. All the hardware was there and instructions were good. This will be great for my bicycle rack and towing a small trailer when needed.

Ford Focus

My hitch for my wife Focus arrived several days after I ordered it. Very Fast delivery time. I unpacked it and decided to give it a additional coat of paint to help perserve it. The next day I mounted it on the car with no problems. It only took me about a hour to mount following the directions. The only tricky part was fishing the bolt and retangle piece through the fram and into the existing hole. Thanks for a fine product and good service.

by:
2007 Ford Focus

Product Fits & looks good; I did have to drill one 1/2" hole; which is mandatory for installation on the hatchbacks. (2007 Focus 5-door) The hardest part was manipulating the bolt through said hole, as you need to feed it in through an access hole in the frame and fish it out. (I used a piece of string secured with teflon tape. Just make sure you use the correct spacer, so you don't have to take it apart upon the realization that you put the carriage bolt spacer where the round one goes!) But, all said & done, install took less than an hour, which is about 30 minutes longer than it seemed for the product to ship!

by:
2004 Ford Focus

The trailer hitch that we purchased was great! It fit perfectly - no problems. Installation took less than half an hour which included getting the hitch out of the box. My son now thinks that working on a car is something that always goes easily. He'll learn....

by:
2006 Ford Focus

The hitch was pretty easy to install. I have the ZX3 model so I had to drill a hole but it wasn't difficult. Everything looks good so far, no rattling or anything, and it looks fairly inconspicuous. I'm very pleased. I'll be attaching a cargo basket to it during a road trip (TX to TN) so I think it'll do the trick! It arrived quickly and the instructions were pretty clear. Customer Service also sent a link to a video that really helped the installation go more easily.

by:
2004 Ford Focus

The hitch did fit , but the last hole aleighned better after bending the hitch with a very large pipe wrench and a longer yet pipe used as a cheater bar for extra leverage. The kit did not come with the "fish wire" that the instructions seemed to indicate. The online video instructions were a terrific help!!

by:

Great web site easy to use. I like the fair prices, and I got free shipping with my order. My trailer hitch receiver installed just as easy as the installation video on your site said, Life is Good : )
Thanks etrailer.com

Ford Focus

HintMy car, a Ford Focus ZX3 hatch back required one hole drilled. I first mounted the hitch with the other three bolts, and then drilled the hole for the fourth bolt as directed. The problem then was how to remove the burr that extended on the blind side of the car’s frame where I couldn’t reach? Hint 1) I used a medium size Allen wrench, the long end secured in a drill motor. I inserted the small end into the hole by tilting it and proceeded to free spin it on high speed in side then drew back unto the inside surface with the burr, it removed easily. Hint 2) I used a combination of heavy thread or fish line could be used, and wire to insert the last bolt. First, fish the bent wire with small hook on end through the ½” hole you drilled and back out the access hole, then hook the thread and draw it back through. Second, thread it through the washer block and tie it around the tip of the bolt and trim excess. Third fish the washer through the access hole and using the bent wire position it over the ½” hole, then pull on the thread as you feed the bolt through, while assisting with bent wire. After bolt is extending through pull and rotate it, until the square neck of the carriage bolt aligns with the square hole of the washer and fully extends down. Finally add conical washer and nut and tightened. .

  • Will a Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Fit a 2005 Ford Focus ZX4
For the 2005 model year all Ford Focus sedans were ZX4 and would then either be an S, SE, or SES. If it only has ZX4 on it then it is an S model. Your 2005 model would not have the Street Appearance Package because that was not available until the 2006 model year. If a hitch won't fit there isn't anything that you can safely do to it or the vehicle to make it fit. It can make the hitch unsafe to use. But if you have the regular sedan (ZX4) then this will not be an issue.

  • Hauling Scooter With 1-1/4 Hitch Receiver
We can give you the tools to achieve what you're wanting but your vehicle is limited when it comes to hitch sizes and capacity. Since you only have 1-1/4" hitch options we don't have a lot of towing options for your Challenger X Scooter. We also can't use an adapter for the hitch as it will cut down the capacity too much to where it could not handle the weight of your scooter. Best thing you can do is get a specific trailer for your scooter. If you have a 2005 Ford Focus hatchback or...

  • Trailer Hitch Recommendation for a 2007 Ford Focus Towing Motorcycle Trailer
For your 2007 Ford Focus Sedan the Draw-Tite part # 24692 would be a great choice for towing a small trailer as long as it stays under the capacities you mentioned. Your trailer would need to be lighter than 2,000 lbs and have a tongue weight of less than 200 lbs for the hitch. For the vehicle you would need to check the owners manual to determine what the vehicle's towing capacities are as well. To complete your towing setup, you would also want a ball mount and part # 19256 for 1-7/8...

  • Cargo Carrier and Bag for a 2005 Ford Focus
I have a solution for you, but the cargo carriers that use the Rola TuffBak 59119 are slightly too large for the 2005 Ford Focus' available Class I hitches. Class I hitches can only handle weight to a certain point, and most manufacturers make their hitch receivers with a stop that prevents higher class accessories from being used. You can get similar functionality out of a etrailer Cargo Bag, part # e98990 and an appropriate sized carrier. For a hitch, I recommend Draw-Tite brand...
