How thick is the hitch metal which I will be bolting to the frame of my 1985 El Camino?

Helpful Expert Reply:
The metal thickness, or wall thickness, of the cross tube of Curt trailer hitch # C12005 is 1/4 inch. The brackets on the sides of the hitch are obviously thicker even than that, 3/8 if an inch or so. The thickness measurement can vary slightly because of the powder coating. This hitch is rated for 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 300 pounds tongue weight. I have included a link to the installation instructions for you.
If you plan on doing some towing the correct ball mount to use with this hitch is # C45520. For a 1-7/8 inch ball use # 19256 and for a 2 inch ball use # 19258.
For trailer wiring use # 18252.
