Sometimes you just need a solid way to haul a small trailer, carry a bike rack, or mount a cargo carrier. This Class I hitch gives you a 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver opening rated for 2,000 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 200 lbs maximum tongue weight. It’s built from fully welded, square-tube steel that’s strong enough for light towing jobs and everyday use without adding bulk or weight you don’t need.
The custom design lines up with factory mounting points for a straightforward bolt-on install. You don’t need specialty tools or welding gear—just the included hardware kit and basic hand tools. The precision robotic welding ensures the hitch fits cleanly and stays aligned during installation, making it ideal for driveway installs or quick garage projects.
Everyday road grime and wet weather can eat away at unprotected steel. This hitch uses a gloss black powder coat finish layered over a protective base coat for superior rust resistance. The result is a strong, durable finish that keeps the hitch looking good and performing well over time, even with frequent use in changing conditions.
The 1-1/4" receiver pairs easily with Class I-rated ball mounts, bike racks, and cargo carriers—just add the drawbar, pin, and clip that fit your needs (sold separately). Whether you’re hauling weekend gear or light utility loads, this compact hitch gives your vehicle the flexibility to handle more without sacrificing clearance or appearance.

I'M EXTREMELY PLEASED. I PLACED ORDER 4:30 IN THE AFTERNOON. PARTS WERE READY FOR SHIPMENT AT 7:00 THAT SAME DAY. NOW THATS THE WAY TO DI IT. THANKS BOB
Great service and the installation was a breeze!!
Shipping was very fast and free! I haven't got to but in on my car yet but so far so good!
Excellent product and great customer service
Very easy to install! Quick shipping!
Easy installation and sturdy construction for the vehicle it is. Works as expected!
Easy to install. Haven't had a chance to pull anything. But seems stout. Only thing I'd probably add is a plate to the inside of the trunk pan on the vertical bolted side.
Not to keen on having to drill into my car body, but I suppose my rig realistically was not designed for towing. As far as the product it seems fine
It would be advantages to send out a wiring diagram for the tail Light assembly. Ray
Fast shipping. Good price and fit perfectly. Installation video's make it easy
Packaged well
All parts were included
Fit was correct
Easy install
I am using with a hitch mount bike rack and it works great.
This was easy to install and is very stable for use with a bike rack. The directions were clear. I have a 2003 VW jetta TDI and needed this to carry an electric bike.
nothing wrong! been great!
Easy install. Performs exactly as advertised. You will have to buy a special electrical kit to be able to hook up trailer lights.
Fits perfectly. Got it installed with no problem by local U-haul. E-trailer was super fast. Thank you for being an excellent, customer friendly company!

Still works great! Use it to carry 4 bikes, sometimes over 100s of miles. No issues.
Great product! Has worked flawlessly and I'm very happy with it. It was also easy to install.
Installed on a 2005 Jetta and has been used only for a Thule bike rack.
I'll be the first to say it. Mounting a hitch to a Jetta/Golf is sketchy. They say it's good for 200lb tongue weight and 2000lb load capacity; had I not tested it myself I would never have believed it. Four (3/8") bolts through the spare tire well on the left side, one 1/2" bolt and one 3/8" bolt on the right side. All through thin sheet metal. The install direction leave something to be desired. They tell you to square it to the car but there are no easy reference points to square to. I ended up using a magnetic level attached to the hitch, bolting the 1/2" side in and jacking the left side up till level. Then I shot a line down from trunk latch (theoretically center of the trunk) and slightly adjusted center on the hitch. To make sure it was square, I measured from the front of the receiver to the rear of each fenderwell (metal not plastic). I was out 1/32 of an inch so OK. The center of the receiver is your only reference point as nothing else is identical left or right of the receiver. I used black rtv silicone to seal the bolt holes. After install I am a big guy and stood/jumped on the hitch after installing (I'm 300+ lbs.) and no problems stood out. The only thing I didn't like was the 3/8" bolt on the left side deformed the tire well when torquing down to spec. A bigger washer should have been provided here.
It's first test came in the form of a 5x8 open trailer with ~900lbs of rain soaked sheetrock. I should say I also used a euro drawbar (does a better job of keeping the trailer level on the low car) and the recommended light harness which I would not recommend for the average user to install (reviewed seperatly C-56175). The trailer is ~500lbs empty. 10 miles round trip to the county dump and back. Up to 60 mph and stop and go and lights. Braking distance was obviously longer (no trailer brakes) and you can definitely feel the trailer (5 speed 1.8 gas turbo car). When I got home I looked for stress cracks, bends and re-torqued all the bolts for piece of mind. The instructions recommend re-torquing the bolts all the time. They should have provided locking washers with the kit or lock nuts, I may change the nuts out or put locking washers on when I get a chance for a little more piece of mind.
All in all for the price and since I sold my truck the convenience of being able to tow both my trailers around without having two vehicles is great benefit to me.
It installed well by following the directions. The [online] video is available too.
I would like to make a suggestion to Curt, the manufacturer. The bottom of the right (passenger) side angle extends far enough aft to nearly completely block the use of the tow eye on the car. My suggestion would be cut off the corner of the bottom of this piece. I wouldn't think at lease a small 45 degree angle would appreciably weaken the hitch and would leave the eye at least partially open and useable.

It was difficult to install. I too had to drill a new hole. The hitch did not slide into place. I had to pound on it with a 4 pound hammer to get it in place. It does serve its purpose well.
Could have better instructions, possibly some measurements to help install,or help align hitch.
I bought this hitch for my 03 Jetta and it worked perfect. I used it to tow a trailer from New Mexico to Michigan. Selecting the correct height hitch was important.
Still works great! Between the Smyth ute conversion (I installed the hitch while I was cutting the car and had easy access) and the flatbed trailer I’ve hauled furniture, motorcycles, and all kinds of stuff. Nothing has loosened or bent at all!
I find myself feeling so greatful i didnt have to fabricate my own hitch! i just sat on the couch and tap the phone screen a whole bunch and voila! i ordered the perfect fitting trailer hitch, i love the shape :) it was fun to set up. gotta love drilling holes in the body of ones car. thanks for this really easy shopping experience. hope you reading this have a wonderful time being alive, if you can help it!
Needed a basic hitch for the daughters 2003 VW Jetta 2.0 sedan, she has a small jet ski trailer and a hitch mounted bike rack. This hitch fit both criteria and was moderately priced. We had it installed by our local VW dealer and it went in very easily according to the technician. The design of the hitch makes it almost invisible the way it is tucked up underneath, very clean looking and does not take away from the rear clean OEM appearance. The attached photo was taken at the dealership during installation. I'm sure we could have installed it ourselves but we had it in for service so figured it would be a great time to just handle it. Very happy with the product.
Well made product - prompt delivery.
Installation was complicated by the right hand bracket requiring a nut be installed in an unusable location. The cavity of the tow bracket tapers to zero height. The predrilled hole has less than a 1/4" of clearance. I had to drill a new hole a couple of inches in front of the recommended position through both the hitch plate and bracket. Once done - the hitch worked perfectly.
