If you have the letter 'M' in the 8th position of your VIN, the trailer hitch I recommend for your 1999 Jetta is part # C11070. This is a Class l hitch and it has a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
If your Jetta is the GLI model with the ground effects package the hitch will not work for you.
If you have an 'H' in the 8th position of the VIN, the hitch I recommend is part # C11010. This is also a Class l hitch with a 1-1/4 inch receiver opening.
None of these trailer hitches come with the hitch ball or trailer wiring.
The hitch ball mount I recommend for your Jetta is part # C45521. This ball mount has a 2-5/8 inch rise or 3-1/4 inch drop. If you need a 2-inch hitch ball you can use part # A-82. For a 1-7/8 inch ball you can use part # A-80.
For a hitch pin and clip you can use part # F-4.
The trailer wiring harness I recommend is part # 119178KIT. This kit comes with a circuit tester that helps you identify the wires behind your tail lights you need to splice into for installation.
