Hitch Recommendation for 2005 Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Published 12/21/2009 >
Question:
Wondering if there is much difference in clearance and appearance between Draw-Tite or Curt models for VW Jettas. Videos are a great help, but a I concerned about bottoming out on inclines and general appearance.

Expert Reply:
Both the Curt and the Draw-Tite Class I hitches for your vehicle are very similar in appearance and function. When installed, the receiver on either model would sit just below the bottom of the rear bumper. The available ground clearance below the receiver would be very similar with both models. The main discernible difference between the models is the finish on the hitch itself. The Curt model uses a finish that is much more glossy in appearance.
In a vehicle such as yours, the average consumer would prefer the hitch to be as unobtrusive as possible. If this is true in your case, I would recommend the Draw-Tite model.
