Features to know about

Add Real Towing Power: Class III Strength with 3,500 lbs GTW

When you need solid towing capability for small trailers, boats, or light campers, this hitch has you covered with up to 3,500 lbs maximum gross trailer weight and 350 lbs maximum tongue weight. If you’re using weight distribution, the capacity increases to 4,000 lbs GTW and 400 lbs TW. The square-tube steel design gives it the strength and stability needed for consistent hauling without flexing or rattle.

Simplify Your Install: Bolt-On Design, No Welding Required

You don’t need a lift or a shop full of tools to get this hitch installed. The fully welded receiver bolts directly onto the frame using included hardware and the holes already there—no drilling or welding. It’s designed to line up cleanly for a straightforward mount so you can get back to loading bikes or hooking up a trailer instead of struggling with modifications.

Keep It Looking Sharp: Gloss Black Powder Coat Resists Rust

The gloss black powder coat finish over a protective base coat keeps the hitch looking good and helps prevent corrosion from road salt and weather. This finish not only protects the welds and steel but also blends nicely under the bumper for a clean, factory-style appearance that doesn’t draw attention.

Ready for Everyday Use: 2" Receiver Fits Common Accessories

With its standard 2" x 2" receiver opening, this hitch works with the gear most people already have—bike racks, cargo carriers, and ball mounts all fit without adapters. It’s built for everyday use, whether that’s carrying bikes to the trailhead or pulling a small trailer around town.

Fit like a glove. The two 7/16-14 bolts on the underside needed to be cleaned and tapped out as they were never used and 21 years of driving left the holes a tad clogged.
Suggest having a thread reamer or tap for those 2 underside holes . The threaded holes on the face were already being used for the U bumpers , no problem ,remove and put in new bolts provided to mount hitch.
I have made several purchases from E-trailer over the last five or six years, all of them had one thing in common, PLEASE THE CUSTOMER.
I,ll still shop around towing stuff, but it always comes back to these guys

by:

This receiver is entirely satisfactory. The problems encountered were not with the product, but rather involved rusted up threads in the mounting points on the frame - extensive cleanout and rethreading finally completed the installation.

by:

Product was exactly as advertised. The video made installation quick. The item is made from heavy steel and looks of good quality. The wiring harness installed easily without any problems. I was very pleased with the quick delivery, quality of item and ease of installation. It was a turn-key job. Thanks. I will recommend. I would send a picture, but I had the trailer hitch installed before I thought about doing a before and after picture.

by:

2nd Hitch I have purchased, 1 for 2010 Escape, 1 for 1989 Jeep. Both fit as advertised, the instructions made the installation quick and simple. Purchased the trailer wiring harness for both, same results, installation videos were great, made the install smooth.
Absolutely would recommend to anyone willing to "do it yourself"

by:

Super easy install! Ordered late Sunday and received Thursday.

by:

I was considering 4 stars because the hitch came scuffed up in a few spots, but then I considered the very fast shipping time as well as the fact that hitches will get scuffed up from normal use anyhow, so I gave this 5 stars. Excellent quality and fits perfectly. Thank you!

If you have a old jeep with bumperettes I would just save yourself some time and angle grind off the old bolts from the bumperettes. Too hard to get a socket in there to hold the nut. Then the new bolts can be fastened using your hand to hold the nut until finger tight and a socket on the outside to torque it down. One suggestion for the company could be to supply nylon lock nuts

Great product, top quality, and easy installation, great customer service and delivery. Thank You

Great Hitch. One issue that Curt might want to address is that the fitment for this hitch was supposed to be a direct bolt on but I had to make some spacers to move the hitch away from the sub frame because the lower tabs would not line up to the frame holes. It great hitch being using to tow a small trailer.

by:

As indicated, the hitch went on 'without a hitch' other than my hands were too big to get the nuts started, at least I did not have to put a wrench on them once I did manage to get them on. It looks great and I am excited to now have the capability to tow my small utility trailer and perhaps get a bike rack for the hitch. Thanks etrailer, for the fast service and complete shipping.

by:

Great product, looks good on Jeep and towed a trailer really well. Took a little longer to put on, you have to have a swivel socket to put the inside nuts on. Out side nuts and bolts was a breeze to put on and the bottom nuts went just as easy.

Great product, I have told many of my friends about where I bought it at.

by:

this has been a very good hitch, towing a 2500 pound boat motor And trailer rig
with my older jeep wrangler, and the light hook up was very simple and straight forward , very good clear instructions It takes less than an hour and a half to put it on, and another 30 minutes to attach the wiring harness no big deal, nothing tricky about it. My budget is limited so this was a life saver as well as money saver, thankyou for your products I will be buying more.

by:

I had to flip my bumperettes upside down to make everything fit, but it is exactly what I was after for my YJ.

by:

This is a very nice trailer hitch. It mounts very easily on a 87 Jeep Wrangler. The holes are in the right place, it was easy to put on, less than 30 minutes required, and is much stronger than the rear frame member it is attached to, what passes for a bumper on old Jeeps. It was shipped very quickly, and packed very well. I could not be happier.

No pictures required, it looks just like the video.

A year later and the hitch is working perfectly for me. It is much stronger than the rust bucket Jeep, pulls my trailer, wood splitter, and drags trees out of the woods to where I can cut them up. Strong, trouble free. I am very happy.

by:

Just got it installed. No problems, even though it arrived torn open. All parts and directions were secured inside though. We love E-TRAILER!

by:

Very happy with the service and the items!! Will be purchasing from you again shortly.
Attached is a picture of the hitch I purchased.

by:

Fits perfectly and easy to install (especially with a 3" body lift).

I opted to put the original bumpers on with the hitch. Photo attached.

by:

Exactly as advertised, straightforward, and looks like it belongs on the vehicle.

by:

This hitch was just what I needed. Quick and easy one man install! Great quality for the price. Now I can use my cargo carrier to haul things like my little minibike! Thanks

by:

Much heavier than I expected, guess explains why the packaging was partially destroyed. All of the parts are present and in great condition.

by:

I recieved my trailer hitch today by ups. I unpacked it and was very pleased with the quality and the look of the hitch. I took my time, did'nt hurry, and within a hour the hitch was installed. The hitch fit perfectly, everything lined up great. I have large hands, so i used needle nose vise grips to reach in to install some of the nuts, i included a picture of them, worked great ! when i ordered the hitch, i made a goof, so i called and Janice cancelled that order and helped me do another, she was very friendly & helpful. thanks!!!!!

by:

Good hitch, happy with it. However, the box it came in was beat to hell. Lousy packaging. Some scratches and marks on the hitch because of this. Wish I could provide a picture to show you.

by:

I have been a customer of etrailer for many years and will continue to be a customer for many more. I purchased the curt hitch for my 1995 Jeep Wrangler, no problem fits great and looks great! Shipping was on time as usual.

by:

As always etrailers was great! the product arrived on time and was as described. the installation video on the website made the install pretty easy. The video was lacking and the positioning of four of the bolts was almost impossible to get to. also be careful not to drop sockets and nuts in the gas tank skid plate (lost two nuts and socket). all and all it wasn't bad and probably had the job done in a little under an hour. i would suggest this product to anyone looking for a hitch for a yj. its not pretty but it does get the job done.

by:

Very well made, excellent paint. Installation was fairly easy, had to install 4 nuts up inside bumper frame, a little challenging, but not impossible. Heavy duty hitch, looks good and should do the job for me.

Hitch still looks new after winter driving and works good.

The hitch arrived on time as expected and fit my jeep exactly as the directions and video detailed. I reused the bumper guards with the hitch. I have ordered numerous hitch's from etrailer and have been completely satisfied every time.

Charlie, did you use the bolts that came with the hitch or did you have to get your own longer ones when adding the bumper guards? Thanks for the advice.

  • Can a 350 Pound Motorcycle be Carried on the Back of a 1995 Jeep Wrangler
Curt trailer hitch # 13657 for your 1995 Jeep Wrangler (YJ) has a tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds. The capacity only goes up to 400 pounds when towing a trailer and using weight distribution. So for hitch mounted accessories the hitch tongue weight capacity of 350 pounds it what you will need to go by. If the combined weight of the bike and carrier is over 350 pounds then you will not be able to carry the bike on the Jeep with a hitch mounted carrier. You would instead need to put...

  • Rear Bumper for 1993 Jeep YJ with Curt Hitch Already Installed
Based on how the Curt Class III Hitch Receiver # 13657 mounts to your 1993 Jeep YJ, we don't have a rear bumper available that can be installed with the hitch in place without some significant modifications. All of the aftermarket bumpers we have for the YJ though include their own integrated 2" receiver, such as with the Rampage # RA7648, so your best option may be to simply remove the existing hitch altogether if you are wanting to add a bumper like this. I have attached the complete...

  • Front Hitch Recommendation for a 1993 Jeep Wrangler
The front hitch part # 13657 that you referenced has been confirmed to fit your 1993 Jeep Wrangler. This hitch installs by utilizing existing holes in the vehicle frame. Since it does not require any bumper modification for installation there would be no reason your factory bumpers couldn't be retained. Several people who have installed this hitch have commented and said they were able to keep their bumpers like you mentioned. I attached an install video for you to check out as well.

  • Can Factory D-Rings Be Installed Over the Curt Hitch 13567 on a 1995 Jeep Wrangler
If you have a set of D-rings that are currently installed where the Curt Hitch part # 13657 would install on your 1995 Jeep Wrangler you could install them over the mounting bracket of the hitch as long as you got the appropriate length Grade 5 or higher bolt to replace the hitch's install bolts.

  • Is it Possible to Tow With 1-5/8
The best solution for you is going to be simply replacing that hitch with a new one, the Curt # 13657, which is a fit for '92 YJ's with the exception of Renegade models. The Curt is a Class III hitch that has a towing capacity of 3,500 lbs, tongue weight capacity of 350 lbs, and more importantly, a 2" receiver opening. To complete your towing setup you would want a 4-flat trailer connector # 118356, ball mount # C45030, 2" hitch ball # 63845 and pin and clip # C21500. I've added links...
